One thing that doesn't need changing: the PPC sounds. Love it. The bassy discharge with the familiar MW4 shriek at the end is perfect. Also really liking the reload sounds on the autocannons that you only hear from inside the cockpit. Rounds whizzing by. Missiles sound more rockety, which is good.
Suggestions, if you may: -Autocannons, mech rifles and machine guns Small caliber autocannons are barely audible, might want to tone it up just a little... or hear me out on the next thing... BF4 might have some interesting realistic sounds, but if it's possible to get the sounds from War Thunder that would be glorious. AC2 sizes with 35mm or Bofors 40mm sound, AC5 with the late WW2 Sherman 76mm, AC10 with modern 120mm and AC20 with the sounds from massive howitzers. Kinda same idea for the light, medium, heavy rifles... many sounds to choose from. And a plethora of machine gun sounds of different calibers to choose from for light, standard and heavy MGs. And it would be sick to have RAC sounds either from revolver cannons (fire rate around 1000rpm) or the gattling guns (30mm GAU-8 brrrrrrrtt RAC5 anyone?) even if the firing rate is way off though at 4000+rpm. -Gauss rifle No propellant burning, so theoretically no "explosion", but a really loud cracky sonic boom from the projectile leaving the muzzle and a low bassy hummm with a bit of high-pitched tinitus-sy sound and the end from the capacitors charging. This is one of my favorite weapons, so having it sound great really makes me smile. -PPC Perfect as it is IMO. -Lasers Not much to go on here, as there aren't any weaponized lasers yet. But a bit less buzzy than vanilla and a bit more low frequency humming, kinda like what Kh0rn did is great. Otherwise, vanilla is ok at best. -Missiles Again a huge choice of sounds from War Thunder. LRMs sounding more like heavy SAMs, MRMs like rapid fire rocket pods and SRMs like TOW missiles or something.
Most of the sounds have an interior and exterior versions as well.
And if you are willing to go one step above, there are many accurate sound effects in WT for vehicle engines (diesel or the Abram's gas turbine engine), helicopters, jets.
I play with all the Yet Another series of mods, so I included weapons from those, not just vanilla. If it doesn't bypass any copyright or proprietary data laws to use War Thunder as a reference (not sure Gaijin would openly share though), that would greatly improve immersion for me and many other players I'm betting. I'm not a modder, so I don't know how intensive building something like this really is, but I would gladly donate.
Props to you guys for making MW5 better mod by mod! Really appreciated!
Sounds are pulled out of the frostbite engine purely, with the exception of energy weapon sounds for reasons I'll explain in the front page when I can get it down. Volumes will be adjusted over time, since it can get difficult to balance loudness and... Well, audio balence.
I figured it would be too much of a massive undertaking. It was mainly a wishlist.
I'm not on discord, so I didn't see how big of a project you're building as you mention in the description.
Honestly, the more I play, the more I find subtle differences and variations in the sounds (missiles and autocannons) that make it feel more realistic. The slightly muted concussions from inside the cockpit and the echo from the outside really improve the immersion.
It might not be a major audio overhaul like what Kh0rn did, and sounds are a very subjective preference... but out of all the gameplay audio mods, this is the one I like the most and I'm very picky haha :)
Really curious what else you have in store! Will be trying out version 1.3 soon.

If you can add the nuke FX to mech doom blast, that would be cool.
Shotgun blast sound to LBX, instead of MG.
Maybe transition this into an FX and Sound mod.
Keep up the awesome work. :)
