UPDATE: New files haven been uploaded! They should work fine now Have fun! NOTICE: the installation files aren’t working properly. Will take care of that later this day!! Sorry
Hello, I feel I have ocd for requesting this but are you able to remove this red mark on snake's nose? It's on both sides of his nose that is a small dark/red patch. It kind of sticks out to me. I wish i could do it myself but i have zero experience in modeling or texturing files.
Hello, so I decided to dig into the files myself and I found the .dds file that is for the face. This is Solid Snake version. I edited it however I have no idea what do next because I am having issues converting the .dds file into ftex. If you are able can I send you the .dds file i created and you pack it into a .ftex file so I can get it to work?
It should work normally with the ftex tool. Download the latest version here: https://metalgearmodding.fandom.com/wiki/FtexTool then go to the dds file, right click "open with" and then select the ftex tool. You can check if the files are updated by checking the date of the files. Should be 4 ftex files in total.
Hey Iroquois, thanks for the reply I managed to get it working ingame. Everything is working wonderfully I just have 3 things I wanted to ask. 1. For my own modding purposes what tool do I use to unpack ftex files if a .dds file is not available? 2. Going to play around and see if I can find a way to get the stealth camo and the NV working if possible do you know what files they would be located in? 3. Since I updated the skin textures would you like me to send you the update so you can see for yourself?
Hi, glad you got it working! 1.with the ftex tool you basically unpack them by double clicking on them. that's what actually spawns the dds file when you unpack the original game files. you don't need a dds to unpack a ftex. with a custom dds you usually open it with the ftex tool so that the custom dds is repacked as a ftex file for the game to read your modded texture. 2. That's difficult to explain though I appreciate your will to help. The NVs and stealth camo don't have anything to do with them not working, it's the way my mod is created. Each head you see in the avtar custom menu isn't just one model but consists of more models (around 7-10) that are coupled together separately by the fova tool within the avatar's hair folder. Meaning the stealth camo can only apply to one of the models and not all of them at once. which is why you see parts of the head, hair or bandana work but the rest doesn't. This can only be fixed of all the models are merged into one model via fmdl studio which I haven't managed to do yet. You could of course try that, but I wouldn't bother with it if I were you. It's very tiresome and I'm not even 100% sure that it'll work. 3. That's ok. I'm sure you managed to fix whatever bothered you but I won't update it. If you like you can of course post your pictures in the image folder for comparison. Hope that answers your question ;) BR Pliskin
