      I just installed an Holy crap this mod rocks i love you thank you so much I would buy you a beer if I could send ya one. I absolutely love HBG but felt that rise HBG had lost its charm, this mod give sit back (maybe a bit too much but still much better than base HBG s#*! shot)

    here the damage remains the same, for me... I think it didn't work

      Odd. Hitting the side of the toad with white numbers I get 44 with my mod, 31 without. The version I use is the one I downloaded off nexus, so it should be the same as everyone elses.

    Nice band-aid, since Charge shots just seem kinda pointless and CC is way to risky. If someone can figure out how to change CC, thatd be ideal.
    Buffing charge shots means breaking damage when CC is active, as well as breaking wyvern and probably ele-pierce.
    Buffing CC means just balancing charge shots to compete with crouching DPS without busting anything in particular.

    So I see this mod as great for casual hunters that want to use Normal, Pierce or standard elemental and arent about meta. If its DPS is still lower then meta hunters wont bother. Buuut thats assuming no CC, if you get CC youre getting 3.2x damage at like what, 2x RoF? CC kinda sucks but if you get is active your DPS would go sky high.

    I appreciate the mod, will definitely use it since I was one of the guys who saw charge shots in the reveal trailer and was like "Oh that makes so much sense since HBG is like gunner GS, and this patches the HBG/LBG damage disparity coming from World!" only to find... they kinda suck? That damn brace animation please someone figure out how to remove it.

    My quick fix idea is to just stop CC from cancelling on trips or roars and such, as well as speeding up its animation cause got damn! Plus remove the brace, of course.
    No Idea how easy that is.

    My complex Idea is to remove CC's "crouch" animation, and instead, play the loading charge animation immediately. Its just too long and risky to play the full animation right after taking a hit. Then, youd make it so the buff activates regardless of being hit. For balance, the load-cartridge animation would still count as a counter and if you take a hit, you finish the animation and get a bigger x2 duration buff, rewarding a counter but making it not necessary.... no idea if thats even moddable though. But id balance that out by making it cost 2 bugs. The player can spend them to buff safe, or risk a counter for a bigger x2 buff.

    My never-gonna-happen idea is, do all of the above, but make charge shots work like "power reload" did in Generations, it buffs the next X shots, not time. So for example, the next 15 Normal shots can be charged per use, if you manage to get a counter off, you instead get 25 bullets of buffed charge speed. This rewards constant counters, but doesnt just cancel the buff if you get hit.
    Thats a deep mechanical change I dont think anyone other than a dev can do, though. Maybe MH6 eh?

    Just some discussion and wishful thinking, I doubt anything major can be changed at this point. Thanks for the charge buff mod!

      Thanks for the discussion. It actually is really valuable because all the feedback I and others can get in regard to lacking balance is fantastic to use to target key areas besides just number tweaks that weapons may need to really shine.

      There's a lot of changes I want to make that aren't just boring scaling, problem is a lot of those values for those are scattered and in much more complicated places than just tweaking the scaling. I want to remove the brace off of charge shots, I want to remove or massively speed up that god awful counter charge animation that makes it virtually unusable in G-Rank. I just don't have the ability yet to do so, but I know it's possible because there's files called .FSM that while are much more difficult to work with than the .COL (basically scaling numbers and raw/elemental values) but have the ability to mess with animation speed, scaling and combo-linking.

      I honestly hope that somebody makes a proper mod to incorporate these ideas because I'm completely out of my depth with more advanced changes like that, but if I learn how to I'll also rework Surge Slash so that Strongarm goes directly into TCS for that switch skill versus using the final combo in the Y/B/Y+B combo chain.

      This mod is balanced around, as sad as this is to say, just not using Counter Charge at all because I've found it almost entirely useless in G-Rank with the new monster speed and aggression. I have almost never been able to get it off without getting hit in the animation lock that follows a successful counter. I am almost entirely sure Counter Charge with my mod ruins game balance, but I can't do much about it unless I nuke the Counter charge values which is possible, and maybe an idea to incorporate into the mod while I figure out the .FSM files that are linked to animation speed. It is also relatively easy to edit the wirebug cost, so that could be implemented as well. 

      I appreciate the feedback and hope I can eventually get better at this Rise modding thing to incorporate it. I really wish they would do a balance pass on some things like Surge Slash and Charging Shot, but Capcom doesn't really tend to revisit balance after the release in a lot of cases.

      Agreed. MR4+ just invalidates CC, even if you can get it off, its always a risk to try it. I think it was MR5 I just completely disregarded it, since even when exploiting the longest window of opportunity... its somehow still not enough.

      Good work man, this mod is letting me just semi-casually-semi-meta use charge shot. Even if its a quick and basic fix, just ignoring CC and using straight charge shots does feel good, like I can see this being how it is in MH6 if they keep the charging mechanics.
      Swap scrolling in and out of charge/crouch feels great, really lets you dynamically hunt without feeling like your DPS just fell off a cliff.

      No, only for the people with the mod installed. If It's just you, you'll get the modifiers but they won't unless they also install it. This is how most Rise mods typically work, not just mine.

    IMO, the best thing you can do to improve charge shot QoL is not to buff the damage from charging but rather to make it so the counter charger buff lasts a little longer / persists through sheath like other weapon buffs. 

    Secondly I have a small request - could you do a mod to change the special ammo type of guns to another, namely Antique Machina to WyvernSnipe? Been messing with the sticky/cluster build with that gun and having the machine gun instead of the exploding sniper rifle feels weird.

      I've thought about the counter charger buff. I need some time to poke around the files to make the change, I'm really new to Rise modding and it's a bit trickier than other games I've touched on. If I had the ability to do that I would fix Gunlance's sheath issue asap. These changes aren't in the same files I'm editing and can be much more complex. Numerical changes are really easy and can be done in minutes.

      Again, I'm pretty new to modding Rise so not sure I could touch on the special ammo thing. I made this mod as a simple patch while I learned a bit more about rise modding in my free time.

      This is the data as relating to the changes I've made. The Crouching Fire adjustments are here, but I can't seem to find anything pertaining to HBG Silkbind durations which other weapons store in their respective .user.2 file, which makes me think It's under a different file structure like FSM.

    You may want to remove the mention of "silkbind" from the general description of the mod. Regular charged shooting doesn't use wirebugs in any capacity, so it's just a switch skill and not a silkbind. When I first read the description I got confused and thought you were talking about HBG's Counter Shot.

    Also, neat mod. Might try it just to see how busted Wyvern shots can get. :P

      Thanks for the tip, I'm getting my terminology all mixed up from poking around so many different files.

      Wyvern Shot is definitely benefiting the most, but do note I didn't touch any status scaling as not to completely destroy the balance. Piercing elemental shots will also benefit a lot.

      let me know how you find the balance. I've tested this very little and could use all the feedback I can get to create the best mod I can with my limited skills.
