For those claiming this does not work... they are not following the instructions clearly. Please read instructions on first page. To summarize, you need to download the other mod to decrypt your file. It's on the main page instructions. Steps to shortly summarize are... 1. Decrypt your save file. 2. Open it in the save editor and edit your monstie however you like. 3. Re-encrypt back your save file. 4. Replace the new encrypted save file with your old one.
I just tried this mod today, on newly installed MHS2, and it works. Please read instructions.
bro it works just figured it out, you gotta put your .sav into both input & output followed with your steamid64 then press decrypt
also for anyone that reads this, this save editor mod is garbage. I tried to figure it out but its just way to confusing and a waste of time even with the guide. ill send a link to a better simpler MHS2 editor way easier to use and simpler, just make sure to use the other tool that's mentioned in this mod page to decrypt an reencrypt your save
this site is to find your steamid64 - https://www.steamidfinder.com/
and here is the better mhs2 sav editor I'm currently using - Monster Hunter Stories2 SaveDate Editor(Modified Version) | GBAtemp.net - The Independent Video Game Community (btw to edit an existing monster or egg to the monster you want, just type in the monsters ID that you want in the "ID" section and the egg / monster your editing will change to the desired mon. after your done editing make sure to press file > save. then reencrypt with the instructions above
also heres a useful websites to figure out genes, it'll make it easier when you edit your monster/eggs genes - MHST2 Gene Browser | Monstie Browser
Tried to use this but the instructions on using this are extremely unclear. I try to decrypt my save, app closes. I try to use the save editor, app closes. This should either be removed from the nexus or updated with step by step directions on how to use this because this as it stands is CRAP and doesn't work.
I am so lost... I would like to learn how to save edit properly. Could someone please take the trouble of writing down an updated guide? Is this thing even working on version 1.5.3?
1. does using the talisman editor capable of spawning in equipments as well? i can see that in the drop down boxes that you can identify said talismas as weapons or armor. infering that the base id is the id of said equipment, a handy table would be appreciated. also, in the same vein, assigning its level is the same as upgrading it with the smith i pressume. Edit: It seems that adding weapons/armors using the talisman menu has this weird interaction where it will be in the talisman menu(obviously), and equipping it there would cause a phantom equipping of said weapon/armor, causing you to equip more than 1 of the same type of equipment if permitted. i suggest not using the talisman maker to generate equipment for now. it can work but as i said, it causes you to make it inside the talisman box. further testing needed
2. about some of the monstie eggs. in particular, namielle. some sites doesnt list her as a monstie but you can get her using this. will this result in some issue down the line?
3. in the item editor, i can see the dlc stuffs like ena's cheerleader costumes. can i add the layered armor that way?
2: changing eggs to unobtainable monters usually just crashes the game, if not listing the save as illegal, if you can obtain Nam by doing this and neither of the above happens you should be fine
3: as far as i've tested dlc items still require you to have the dlc in one way or another, the item itself can still be obtained but will not show up in the menu when trying to use it

not sure how to fix the invalid data issue
I've got my save file from my Switch.
Converted it from NSW to PC
Decrypted
Edited a Monstie
Saved
Encrypted
Converted back to NSW
Moved file back into Switch save folder
Loaded game and the save file just doesn't show. Previously I had a save in save slot 1 and now I don't. Just the autosave.
EDIT: Placed a backup file into my switch saves folder and slot 1 reappears so I'm assuming the issue is in the conversion process somewhere.
