Please post your system specs along with your observations - I'd like to try to put together enough datapoints to figure out what exactly is going on here and to try and fix it. Thanks so much, everyone!
A solution that seems to work is copying the original 1.2.2 files to system32 of your Proton prefix, and then replacing the original files in the game folder with the 1.2.3 files.
Make sure to add WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dstorage, dstoragecore=n,b" %command%to your game options.
To those unfamiliar with the Proton Prefix path, this should be your default /home/USERNAME/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/2246340/pfx/drive_c/windows/system32
That fixed the crash/freeze on startup for me. Though it's strange how I need the original 1.2.2 files in the system32 folder. (It crashes again, when using the 1.2.3 files)
The game also still uses CPU for direct storage, according to the options menu.
Just passing by to confirm a gain in performance by using this files. Went from a 90ish fps to something twerking (smoothly tho, no stutters) between 105 to 120.
AMD Ryzen 7 5700G not-overclocked RX 9070 Overclocked 4×8Gb DDR4 3600Mhz RAM 2560×1440p HDR display Custom in-game settings pretty much equivalent to high Framegen on, FSR4 on through AMD Adrenaline settup, 90fps framecap through RTSS instead of ingame limiter
Updated GPU decompression shader to be HLSL shader language version 2021compliant. This fixes TDR issues reported on older GPUs that do not support the optimized GPU decompression path
This f*#@ing awesome thing fixed my stutter/freezing even BSOD (blue screen of death) problem. I don't know how capcom managed f*#@ things up. Thank you so much man.
Short Summary: After TU-1 update I can only open game once and it was stuttering/freezing. If I close it and try to open second time I get BSOD (blue screen of death).
My gig if it helps. 4070ti 32GB RAM AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D MAG X570S TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI Motherboard (I think xmp is still open but it was open before the tu-1 update soo how much important I dunno)
I downloaded your file and placed it in the game folder, but the issue still persists. When I play, my computer lags and freezes intermittently, eventually freezing completely. I have to restart the machine to get it working again. My computer specs are 9800X3D, RTX 3080, 64GB RAM, and Samsung 990 Pro SSD.
I've found out what the problem was. I just had to disable XMP, and everything went back to normal. The game runs smoothly now, and the CPU usage, which used to be constantly at 90-100%, has dropped down to only 20-40%.
Since the TU1 has been release and I saw a picture that Capcom is aware of the DirectStorage issue, did they fix the problem or do I still need to use this ?
Nvm, didnt read the btm part. Cant delete my own post...
