Nope. at least, not me. considering two people have stated theyve been banned, they also had additional mods on that they aren't talking about. I'm starting to believe this voucher tracking is client sided and you may very well be safe.
this kind of mod was available for world/iceborne and rise/sunbreak and not a single ban was issued at that time. If people ARE getting banned, it's most likely because of another mod they have, or they're participating in tweaked quests/investigations and arenas (even if they are not the cheater themselves- you can be marked and banned for association.) Just avoid modded quests if you can. I edited my character with this mod 30+ times because I'm indecisive af and I've been playing since launch. I'd wait for one more title update if you want to be completely safe.
Hello, I have a question. Does this mod accumulate a negative value for the number of times it’s used?
Although the credibility is low, one user on Twitter mentioned: “For anyone wondering, the voucher mod doesn’t interfere with any authentication on the servers. It rolls back a value on the client to -1 that tells the game you have the voucher. After ‘using’ the voucher, it goes back to 0 which then the mod rolls it back to -1 for next time.”
If anyone can provide accurate information, I’d really appreciate it.
I'm no expert on how this mod works, so someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
When using this mod, the number of time you edit your character seems to be recorded in you save file, and will go into negative values (although the number of available edits in game says '0'). I used this mod to edit my character 3 times, and have also used the free voucher. I have since gotten paranoid about a potential ban, so I bought both of the DLC vouchers (6 edits total), and once I did that the number of available edits in game was back to '3', so it must have been at '-3'. I then got more paranoid, and reverted to an old save backup, before I had used this mod and the free voucher, and my number of available character edits is now 7, which is the maximum available i believe.
So to answer your question, yes, it does accumulate a negative value for the number of times it’s used.
The dev of the other infinite edit mod also confirmed that the savedata records how many times you've edited the character. https://www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterwilds/mods/106?tab=posts
so I used this mod twice on April 9th so far nothing hasn't happen and my game is heavily modded with cosmetic mods, with that being said I play online sos arena everything, i play almost everyday and if I log on ill do 10 hunter ranks before i log off ill keep updates seeing people still have doubts about the mod. PS never bought any vouchers or the free ones they give out, today is April 15th
Thanks for the update. Keep us posted if you can. 1 more of your update and I'll for sure download it already xD been wanting to edit my char for a long time.
You're all too worried about getting banned. If it happens, just create a new character and start over. A ban doesn’t mean you’re locked out of the game forever, it just means you can’t play multiplayer with that specific save file. You can always start fresh with a new character.
misleading information, first Capcom bans ur whole steam account not just one of ur savefile, means u need to play this game on a whole new steam account, second getting banned not only disables multiplayer hunting, all the event quests and other online events will be no longer available and event quests are a huge part in the end game .
just got banned today i used this mod and a few others "not the DLC unlocker" but used some other mods online unfortunately like illegal investigations online probably got reported lol
@Kur0gaming You can still play the game, but I believe you're permanently stuck offline until the ban lifts. They'll more than likely will perma ban you for mods like this though. Making a new character does nothing, because it's your whole account that gets banned, not just the character. You can still play the game, but no more event quests, bounties or anything for you.
so............... did you get banned for obviously using illegal investigations ONLINE? or did you get banned for the ticket? cause it seems pretty obvious why you may have been banned without it being this mods fault.
Thats the fun part they dont tell you. I mean it would be pretty simple for us to mod the game if we would know what mods are not allowed and which are but instead of telling us the rules Capcom just bans people. And the best part is if you buy the next MH guess what you are still banned. So basically if they dont lift the permaban you have no reason to ever buy another Capcom game again. That sounds really smart to me.
Could you show some proof that you got banned? If they were banning for this particular mod there would be hundreds of people crying here or reddit lol
did you play with strangers doing those customed investigations? cause I know there're some folks out there who hates modding and will report u in game if they see an illegal quest.
I can confirm using the mod has NOT get me banned. I edited my character while at 0 vouchers and I am playing normally as of right now.
Here's what I did for a little extra precaution: - Turned off internet connection - Installed mod & launched game - Changed character appearance with the mod - Saved & quitted, uninstalled mod, and launched the game online
You cannot confirm this, Capcom has the capacity to ban anybody for any reason.
While most modding does not effect anybody but yourself, a mod like this does effect their ability to sell you their micro DLCs that give you character/palico edit vouchers meaning that if Capcom wants to ban you for modding, this mod will definitely be one of the ones they'll go after. It's highly likely that on the client side they track the number of times you edited your character and once you tick over a certain amount (since the number of times you can do this without a mod is finite) they'll know you cheated.
While it's "probably" fine, do NOT come onto a forum and "confirm" that it won't get you banned, because you can't even do that for any other mod on Nexus, but a mod that you can use to bypass their micro DLCs? That's where the first reports of people getting banned will come from.
Well.. the same thing exists for World. Character/Save-File Editor, so less "vouchers bought" for Capcom, tho you only can buy a certain amount. Not even unlimited..
And there not a single person got ever banned. No matter the mods actually.
Perhaps those people on reddit used something that unlocked the deluxe version DLC for free as well in addition to this mod? That, or they were using things that one shot monsters and got themselves reported. I did delete this mod, but I'm just being safe. Anyone used this mod over 7 times since its release and is still good?
@Nihrahk according to the cheat table I've used it 13 times. But I uninstalled the mod days ago. I have played in public lobbies with and without the mod (though not a lot, I'm not really into multiplayer)
For anyone curious about extremes, I'm one of those character edit perfectionists. I probably edited my character...50+ times? I'm not keeping track, but it was a lot. I didn't take any precautions with regard to Internet connection or deleting the mod. It's still installed now. I'm still playing online.
I haven't done an edit since all these fake ban posts started, but that's because my character is good enough for now. Will see what happens I guess.
I would recommend you to remove the mod just in case since you are done with it. At least if any bans were to happen we would know for sure that they really are using that save data info to ban people.
It's important to note that you "confirming" that it won't get you banned is like saying that speeding in your car won't get pulled over because you've been doing it for years and never got caught.
What you're doing is directly against their modding policy, which makes using the mod a bannable offense. While you probably won't get banned, there is no way to confirm it. Coming onto the forum and confirming that it wont get you banned could leave you liable if they do get banned. You don't know that you won't get banned, you're just assuming a current lack of enforcement you're experiencing will likely be the norm for most people.
I'm telling you that it's NOT confirmed that this wont get you banned, however yours and many other people's experience has been indicative that you'll probably be fine, which is fair information to share. Just don't post a definitive statement for something that cannot be known. It's not a fact, it's not confirmed, it's assumed, all of this is assumed, there's lots of evidence that supports this assumption, but it's still just an assumption. Don't tell me to chill because you're spreading misinformation about this to people.
How can I say this without making you look like an idiot?
I'm a random person who downloaded the mod, used it, and didn't get banned. I came here and posted "I can confirm that using the mod hasn't got me banned". Do you think I have higher enlightenment, or do I just mean that I didn't get banned for using the mod?
Capcom doesn't allow ANY mods officially. This mod is as much of a bannable offense as literally any other.
Again, Capcom does not have a history of banning people for using mods, and so far, it seems that the only people who have been banned have been those who tried to tamper with DLC activation which is done through the Steam Store. So if this continues to be the case, Capcom is still not banning anybody for using in-game mods, only those that tinker with Steam purchases.
This time around, I'm asking you to please touch grass instead of being mad online. My post has helped people clear doubts, and you're arguing over a worthless topic again.
@sherrif Sounds like you are confused on what he actually said and are making a point against something he didn't actually say.
What he said: "I can confirm using the mod has NOT get me banned" What you think he said: "confirming that it wont get you banned"
He said he's confirming that *HE* *personally* hasn't gotten banned yet. He is *NOT* confirming that other people won't or will never get banned like you are implying. He uses "me" you are changing it to a "you" which he never used.
"you're just assuming a current lack of enforcement you're experiencing will likely be the norm for most people" He makes no assertion anywhere that his experience will be the norm for others. "however yours and many other people's experience has been indicative that you'll probably be fine, which is fair information to share. Just don't post a definitive statement for something that cannot be known" That's literally all he's doing, sharing his own personal experience, that's it. And it's valuable. And because he is stating a personal experience, he can indeed make definitive factual statements on his own personal experiences. Because...
He never, at any point, made any claims for what others will experience.
If Capcom does something about this,a ton of people will be banned immediately, and this place will be filled with reports of people getting banned,in the end it still comes down to: if you're afraid, don't use it.
Soooo.....I've recently been addicted to grinding Arena. Been going real hard at it and even got a pretty decent time for the Dogashuma challenge (3.00 minutes flat). Thing is, I completely forgot that Capcom is allegedly going to scrutinize leaderboard times for "tampering". I know Capcom kinda of takes the "out of sight out of mind" approach to mods that don't affect multiplayer or other player's enjoyment like ReFramework, but I'm worried my uploaded time might invited more attention to my account.
I've only used this mod and a freecam mod for screenshots. I'm also not top 10,000 or anything (mostly because of cheaters), but I'm still concerned.
I pretty much have the same question, as I used it only once (Because I can't reluctantly buy just 1) and uninstalled/deleted it from the game, so I'm questioning that if I do the Arena Quest will it Ding me?
I'm hoping not, as I wouldn't be destroying the Leaderboard
I still believe that Capcom cannot track how many times you've used the Character or Palico edit vouchers. These settings are client-sided; similar mods are also being used in both World and Rise. As far as I know, no one has ever been banned for using similar mods.
With that said, your concern should be beyond the scope of Capcom allegedly scrutinize the arena leaderboards. Still, it wouldn't hurt to be extra careful. Wilds has been a great success for them, so it's expected that they will somehow improve dealing with "tampering" and mod regulations.
PS. F**k them for locking away Character and Palico edits behind paywalls.
I don’t even think Capcom has an accurate way of telling cheaters apart, except for those who do it too obviously, even if they found a way, I don't think it's relevant to this.
