    In the period of history when heavy armors were more affordable and common in armies, hammers were one of the most efficient weapons against heavy metal plate armors.

      While absolutely true, those were hammers pretty different from the ones used to make such armor.

      But tbh, hammer is both a tool and a weapon. Same as Axes and Knives (especially German ones).
