2.0.1 Preview of the mod is out with a small change by TonWonton I need reviews on it, this version is supposed to bring a small CPU optimization but we don’t know if it might also cause issues with Global Illumination. In short, it modifies the solver to prevent GI from re-enabling after a loading screen.
So, if you test this file, disable GI, play through cutscenes and dozens of in-game hours, and let me know if you notice GI re-enabling at any point.
Thank you very much in advance for your feedback!
P.S. The performance improvement will be really slight, in order of 0.1 fps in modern setups, more in CPU bottleneckeds setups.
is there a way to only remove the reflection stuff from global illumination? disabling GI removes artifacts from reflections but the lighting looks so bad
Will there be an option to disable thermal deformation? It causes the performance of the Oilwell basin to decline under severe weather conditions, and constructs monsters wound breakdown. thank you.
I searched a bit and didn't found any revelent setting in the Graphics Manager and PostProcess class, it might be elsewhere but i don't want to pass hours to dig this week i'm sorry. But how do you know how much FPS you exactly loose if you can't disable it ?
I played for 50 hours at 40 fps with graphics that hurt my eyes. And now I can finally play 70 frames with normal model quality. Thank you, God bless you, and good health to you, your family, and your loved ones!
Hello, translating your message gave me an hardly understandable result, to fix our language barrier issue, could you send me some records of the problem ? To clearly understand what is happening. Thanks you
sorry,my bad. I've found a problem! First of all, I'd like to express my gratitude for the mod you created. It's really effective for me. When the "no wind" and "no gi" options are enabled, my frame rate has increased by at least 15 frames. My graphics card is a 3060ti. However, there is also an issue. When the "no wind" option is turned on and I reopen the game, the objects that were originally being blown by the wind will come to a complete standstill. For example, the tent cloth above the base camp in the desert area. But as long as I re-check the "no wind" option, it will return to normal. And whether the objects are still or fluttering, the frame rate can still be improved.
"no wind" 选项将关闭风向功能,这意味着任何物体都不会对风产生反应。因此,该选项可以正常工作。 此信息也已翻译。
The "no wind" option will turn off the wind, which means that no object will react to the wind. Therefore, the option works as intended. This message has also been translated.
So @RhythmAM you mean, starting the game with wind disabled makes the tissues and vegetation static, but toggle it ON then OFF again in-game make it move again but keeping the performance improvement ?
In that case that's curious, i have the wind off but still see tissues and vegetation sways, but their sway is generic and unbound from the weather. That would mean in your situation, starting the game with wind off, also disable the generic sway (which consume almost no performance). Again, text will not be enough, i need a video of what is happening exactly.
First, when enabling the "no wind" option, upon launching the game for the first time, all objects will not interact with wind and remain static. Even in this state, performance is improved.
But, if you toggle the "no wind" option again (re-enable it), all objects will no longer stay static but instead sway with the wind—and performance still remains improved in this scenario!
Ah, apologies—this damn translation software misled me. When I properly enabled the 'wind' setting, I noticed objects in the game were being blown by the wind as intended, but there was no performance improvement.
hey there! absolutely wonderful mod. I have a question-statement, in the base game, I have this really bad shimmering textures issue, anything that's wet or metallic has this weird blurry shimmery tv-static effect on it, no video settings seem to be able to fix it. however, with your mod, disabling global illumination gets rid of the shimmering! that being said, disabling global illumination also absolutely ruins the visuals of some areas. I was wondering, is global illumination just a one-for-all toggle? or does the toggle in your mod affect a few different settings? would it be possible to make a version of this mod that lets you toggle off specific aspects of GI? so I can try to just fix the shimmering without completely axing the visuals. thanks!
edit: it might be related to screenspace reflections? I wouldn't know how to go about disabling those properly, I already have them turned off with the ingame graphics but it doesn't seem to fix anything
The mod simply disable the DPGI component, it's a sort of one-for-all. I found 757 methods in the DPGI class, there surely a way to customize it, but that would be hours of work for a bug i can't produce myself.
Also, do you use HDR by chance ? As you described it, it sound like what happen on HDR → LDR screenshot conversion.
Can you send a screenshot here to give me an idea of what is happening ?
not using HDR, and the shimmering is really hard to see in screenshots since it's most obvious when the camera moves. it also gets lessened by using ray tracing, but that's murder on my fps, so that's not viable either. heres an imgur with some pics I took with and without RThttps://imgur.com/a/lMmWKGB
I saw the clip you posted and the graphics shouldn't look like that, at least not the trees flickering. So I don't think it is a game problem
What scripts are you using? Can you list all the script files you have in reframework\autorun? Do you have the Disable Lens Distortion script installed?
Possibly other scripts as TonWonton said, tho; You can also try to remove the config.ini file from your game directory to reset the in game settings and see if one of them causes it. (Backup it before to remove ofc, or simply rename it to anything, that's same) If you edited it or used custom inis to improve your performances, you surely know that some settings in this file are not in the in game menu.
Also, you can try to delete the shader.cache2 file from your game directory, and check if your REFramework is up to date. I doubt that will help because shaders cache are rebuilt when it's needed and have no reason to be badly built, and REFramework shoudln't impact graphics. Although, the problem you shown on the screenshot doesn't look like a shader wise issue. But well, it's still free to do that to rule out these possibilities.
Edit: Talked about your issue to a gamedev friend, they didn't excluded the shader corruption issue, try to remove the shader.cache2 file and remove or rename your config.ini file.
I've tried resetting the config as described, and also removing any relevant REf scripts, to no avail. I deleted my shader cache and the config and had the files remade and the issue persists, full vanilla, clean install, the shimmering static stuff persists. so far, the only things that get rid of the shimmering are rtx and turning off global illumination list of scripts I use: autoskip_repetitive_cutscenes.lua better_camera_distance.lua FemaleBodySliders.lua HookWeaponLayer.lua lite_environment.lua map_icon_configurator.lua message_despam.lua mhwilds_disable_postprocessing.lua mhwilds_tweak_volumetric_fogs.lua persistent buff glow removal.lua removemonsterquesticon.lua skip_intro_logos.lua supressed scoutflies.lua wind_simulation_disabler.lua
I fear i have no idea of what is happening, the best idea i have in mind is to make a mod to completely customize DPGI, that would be long hours of work tho. Or if you have some basic knowledges i could send you the list of the methods names of the DPGI class (especially the Get and Set methods) and a dummy script with two buttons to call them and output their value then to change it, but for that you need some baseis. (How types like strings, ints, booleans, etc works, to be exact, to don't paste a number in a text field) And if you find what to change exactly, i'll automatize you it in a simple mod you'll can reupload at your wishes.
There is a bug in the game that sets ambient lighting to high if you apply the graphics settings, so I suspected it might have happened if you had a script installed that updates the graphics settings mid game. But if it is not installed and it still happens even if you do a clean install of the game that's weird. Did you check the script folder manually in file explorer or through REFramework?
I've read posts with similar problems where stuff in the game flickers like crazy, similar to the leaves on the trees. And it seems to be affecting AMD users primarily I think? What GPU do you have?
I've also seen some people say that it is caused by having the exe in windows 8 compatability mode? Check if you can change the compatability mode by right clicking the exe and see if enabling/disabling or changing it works
These fixes seemed to work for some apparently, some of the fixes seem kinda questionable though: - Delete the shader cache in MHWilds again - Open steam, click steam top left > settings > disable shader pre-caching > clear download cache - Click windows button + S, search for: disk cleanup > run as admin > select C: drive > select directx shader cache and click ok - Go into AMD or NVIDIA software and clear shader cache there. Dedicated button in AMD software, for NVIDIA try this. Then reboot - Find the steam exe and enable windows 8 compatability mode, do the same for MonsterHunterWilds.exe. Then restart steam completely - Open steam > launch the game > build shaders - After it is done rebuilding shaders, exit the game and exit steam completely. Then remove windows 8 compatability mode from both .exe files and launch the game
Other general fixes I would do if it still doesn't work: - Uninstall MHWilds from steam and then delete the game folder manually in file explorer. Since steam only removes the game files and not the other files such as mods, scripts, etc. - Downlad DDU and the GPU driver file for manual install (not through nvidia app or amd software). Then disconnect the PC from the network (make sure wifi auto connect isn't enabled if you're using wifi) > use DDU to completely wipe the GPU drivers and then reboot > install the GPU drivers without network, and after it done is you can reconnect
If it still doesn't work after this I'm kinda lost on what could cause it. Next step would probably be a full clean re-install of the OS It could also maybe be artifacting due to unstable memory/gpu overclock, or faulty GPU? Or maybe a game bug that only affects some people
I am also experiencing the same symptoms. I have tried all of the solutions above, but it does not work. The only option left is to downgrade the OS. I'm currently using 24h2. Is there a solution?
using an rtx 4090, so its not an amd thing in my case. I tried the shader stuff already, but had no luck unfortunately. same goes for the full reinstall. I'm hesitant to do a full OS wipe. I don't have these issues with other games, so I doubt its a problem with my gpu/drivers, either. I really appreciate the help, though, hopefully itll at least help someone else with their issues
This article was written with a translator. It was resolved, albeit unsafely. In conclusion, downgrading to Windows 10 was the most effective. Windows 11 24h2/23h2,Windows 10 22h2 In all three cases, crackling occurred in the original game. However, there was a noticeable improvement in Windows 10 22h2 version, and it completely disappeared by turning on the low ray tracing option. In Windows 11 24h2/23h2 versions, turning on ray tracing improved the problem, but the buzzing only coalesced and turned into a bigger buzzing noise. I won't be testing any more after this, I'm too tired. I hope this helps others with this symptom. My cpu - AMD Ryzen 5 5600 6-Core Processor 3.50 GHz My gpu - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060
turning off GI with this, or using ray tracing fixes it, but as mentioned earlier, turning off GI makes the game ugly and turning on ray tracing tanks my frames. unfortunately I've not found a fix. I have, however, noticed this issue occasionally popping up in another game, warhammer 40,000: darktide. it's not nearly as widespread vs wilds, only appearing on the greebles above the mission control map, but I think it might be possibly an issue with these games implementation of GI interacting with specific GPUs?

Sorry, I don't know its scientific name. Heat Haze or Mirage?
The last no fog menu is not activated and I don't know what the problem is
Really great job. Being tired of artifacts from GI
🥳👍
Thanks you
