Can anyone show me how to use? I lost my 100hr+ save due to not having backups :(, starter all over again And im trying to not get my save corrupted again due to a Game crash -_- :(....

      • Run the downloaded .exe.
      • If you've not yet backed up a save, skip this step. If you If you've backed up any saves already, it will display a list of all saves backed up, labeled by date and time they were backed up and ordered from newest to oldest.  You can select one of these to restore, overwriting your current save. If you don't want to restore a save at this time, do not select any of them. Click "Next".
      • It will ask if you want to backup the existing save file, if so, ensure that box is checked. It will back up your save data at the moment you confirm. If you don't want to back up your save data (such as if you are restoring a save), ensure that box is not checked. You may also have it generate links to the backup folder at this time. Probably you don't need these. Click next.
      • It will backup and/or restore your save.
      • Repeat as needed.

It seems this MOD doesn't have a save recovery interface. Do I need to manually locate the original game save files and overwrite them?
    1. It does have a save recovery interface.  Despite acting like an installer, it is actually the program itself.  When you run it the first time, it will back up the existing save at the time of running it.  Any time you run it after that, it will provide the option to restore any save it was previously used to back up prior to having the option to back up the current save.  Just select the one you want to restore, then when you get to the part about backing up the current save, probably ensure that is not selected, since you probably don't want to back up the current save if you are trying to restore an older one.

Hey, may I ask if you have a plan for an automated version?

Manually backing up my saves every time feels a bit tedious.

For example, I'd like a feature where the program runs in the background and automatically creates a backup whenever the save file changes, keeping the last 10 saves.

And maybe a system that keeps only the latest save per day, so I always have the last 10 days' worth of backups.

I recently experienced the host's camp location setup in a multiplayer game overwriting my own, and it made me realize that other players' mods could potentially mess up my save files. That’s why I started looking for a backup utility and ended up here!

Savegames are DRM protected and bound to Steam ID. They cannot be shared.

While nothing exists yet for Wilds, this was possible in World via the save editor. You could duplicate save slots and copy them to another slot and also take saves from other players and make it compatible with your steam save ID's. Hopefully someone gets a working version for Wilds soon.

Afaik there is no save editor for Rise or any of the RE engine games, worlds having one does not guarantee anything.

forgive me if it cant or if it's not possible, but I would love to know if it can duplicate one save file onto another slot?

Does this automatically keep making new backups? Or do I have to run this program each time I want to back up my updated save and at the end cancel the process of overwriting my current save file with the backup? Thanks

You only overwrite your current save if you select an existing backup, however there is an option to always backup the current saves before it restores from an existing backup.

It does not seem like it's saving save files on more than one Steam IDs. I have two saves from two different Steam IDs, but only one of them saves. I do not know which one though.

This is designed to read steam install location from the registry, if you have multiple steam installations then it will use the one that is considered default. It will then read userdata\*\gameid where the "*" is the user id which can be any number, if you have multiple folders that have a subfolder with MH Wilds game id, then the software will likely copy both, but will replace them in the backup folder with whatever last userid it copies from.

I'd have to figure out something so that if there are multiple "*" folders it will create a backup for those too.

is it possible to save the backup into the designated folder that I choose instead of default one?
