Because I'm getting bored of getting the same comments.
The "Fair and Balanced" tag isn't going away, I've already discussed it with nexus admins.
This mod came about from extensive discussions with members of the community at the higher levels of play. Speedrunners, Set analysts, Data miners and Data analysts, whom all came to the consensus that this was a reasonable change that had to be part of the base game in the first place, and that the balance between weapons isn't upset in any critical shape or form from this. Not only that but it improves the player's experience with a mechanic that's extremely frustrating for over half the player base (the weapons affected account for FAR more than half the playerbase because of usage statistics).
Not only that but it's even less impactful than changes in the console patches which give light weapons, Sword and Shield and Dual Blades tenderizing attacks outside of the claw. Attacks that have Motion Values WELL BEYOND anything they already have (SnS gets the highest motion value in the game as part of a tenderizing combo).
To those asking for pod drops on heavy weapons, that's something I've been interested in implementing but that mechanic is far more complex file wise because it's related to monster files not only weapon files. Not only that but the impact is not even close to the lack of tenderization on light weapons.
I'm closing comments now. I avoid blocking people because I also write modding tools and blocking someone from my content means they are gated off from a swathe of modding, but so far that's a policy many have been insidiously trying to make me reconsider.
Isn't this just affecting gameplay directly? It was intentional for light weapons to have to do two finishers to tenderize a part since they drop slinger ammo in return. Consoles still have it till this day. And considering that most light weapons have faster finishers than heavy weapons doesn't this just ruin the balance of claw mechanic by giving them one finisher tenderize on top of the already existing ammo drop?
They arent, the monsters stop dropping it after a few times, so light weapons get shafted hard when trying to keep a part weakened, takes longer to do and you quickly make the monster not drop ammo
1. Don't do it on a tenderized part. 2. Don't do it on a part two times in a row.
In a single fight my brother who only uses light weapons dropped us 5 slinger ammo. Monster ran a little later. He dropped us the same amount once the parts weren't tenderized anymore. It's simple to figure out, just get good.
ill do it to different parts un tenderised and no ammo after about the third drop consistently, but those first few times i can finisher the head 3 times and get ammo 3 times, after that nada, no matter where i clutch to light finishers suck compared to heavy.
It's also worth noting that all light weapons CAN tenderize in one hit. Grapple onto the monster, claw him 3 times, then do your finishing attack. Not only does this soften but it also enrages, and with how good agitator is your damage uptime is GREATLY boosted if it's in your set. If not, still worth if you know how to fight around the monsters faster attack patterns.
EDIT: I reconsidered my stance on this mod, it does make light weapons far less tedious to soften parts up with. And if the the top players and speedrunners think the changes are fine than I can't complain (as a casual player of the game)
Asterisk--> any plans to make either another mod or an OPTION for this one for custom tenderize timings? Id love it if parts stayed tenderized longer, or even the hunt duration on investigations
Looks like light weapons will be more usable now. Any plans (if possible) for making the claw less essential? Or extending the duration of weak points so it's less of a chore?
You people are crazy. Some light weapons have short clutch attacks, yeah. Gunlance is as long as any heavy weapon, actually longer than switch axe. And any light weapon still takes longer if you count in second aiming, grappling, jumping and finally attack animations, you could fit at least 3 heavy ones in that period. So in the end i have to, with a damn gunlance, spend more than half of the fight trying to cling to a monster instead of actually playing. Fair and balanced! And this is cheating! I came to monster hunter to swing weapons, not take damage from charges while hanging on the tail.
Honestly, Capcom should have made it so the new Gunlance feature causes the area to tenderise if you fire into the stake with your shells. But they didn't. So OFT mod here I come.
This mod is 'Cheating' and should be tagged as such. This is not an oversight on the developers' part, and it will affect gameplay for other players if you use this in an online session with others.
There is no problem with this mod existing. But let's not pretend it isn't a cheat mod.
It's hardly game-breaking and more of a QOL mod imo. It's not like you're clutching on to the monster and killing it in one hit.
I think even Capcom realises they dropped the ball regarding light weapons needing to tenderise twice, since apparently all of Safi's weapons tenderise in one hit.
As a Gunlance user, this mod is a godsend. Having to claw twice really saps the fun out of fights--especially when your clutch claw attack animation is slow as hell and the window to actually pull it off is narrow at the best of times.
i picked up the mod for dual blades but i started playing bow just now and i found out that bow claw finisher actualy makes 2 weekspots if u could change that would be nice
We all hate CC being essential by Capcom's force. And For those which is called light weapon, it is massive pain in game-play. But honestly it is something that changed game's system without development's permission and that is fair enough to be called as a Cheating.
I don't hate this mod being existed. I hope one day we don't have to use this kind of mod because Capcom will do something right. Capcom is obviously caring for what mods are released, so if it is true, I hope Capcom listen to this strong voice at the end.
But right now this is Cheating, sadly. Especially it affects players who don't have this mod.
