Appraising a feystone is a local process. So yes, even if you finished a mission with other players, this mod still works for you. And no, other players who finished the same mission with you will not be affected, they still get the normal deco drop rate.
I'll try it! I recently came back to MHW and decided to re-run from scratch, because I'm crazy like that. I'm looking forward to the grind for good decos, but I've already spent over 400h in my previous character, so I'm not against speeding up the process (especially for decos like Magazine which are more or less mandatory to Charge Blade).
However, I was wondering how your mod fits with "Modern Decoration System" that was also released recently: https://www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterworld/mods/5255 ? From my understanding, that mod affects drop rates, while yours affect the Feystone-->Deco conversion step? Am I right to think that they would be compatible? (If not, between the two I'd probably choose yours)
I downloaded Blackalicious's "Modern Decoration System Iceborne Edition" and checked. You can safely use both mods together since we did not modify any files in common. (Actually, according to the images he included, I think he wanted to change the drop rate of deco's from appraising feystones, but it seems he forgot to include the file, so you're good to go.)
From the files he provided, I only spotted changes to the argosy, bounties, and the steamworks machine. The two mods totally work together with no issue. However, I did not make this mod with changing the number of melding tickets in mind, so having both mods installed might give you too many decos. You can take a closer look at the description of each mod and decide for yourself :)
Btw, it's totally not crazy to re-run the game. It's the third time I do it, and I made this mod mainly for myself for that purpose. It's just such a great game.
I played a little with both mods (separately) today and like you, I came to the conclusion that using both would probably be way too imbalanced. Between the two, I enjoyed yours better, since I feel like I can target farm specific decos I'm missing (like My Name is Lavasioth! for the Magazine deco), and good feystones actually feel rewarding.
I recognize this comment is ancient in internet terms, but does this imply that you'd reccomend this mod even for someone starting from scratch (already played the game before)
Aka if I create a brand new character, would you reccomend this mod? Or would you personally reccomend I play without it for x amount of time collecting base world decorations for a while and THEN swapping to use the mod just before or just when entering iceborne?
I took a gander into the files and it should be working fine. No new lines or columns in newer game versions were added. You need to have the updated version of Stracker's Loader and Performance Booster though.
Thanks so much, this is a huge timesaver. I love quite a bit of grind, but I have my limits and the vanilla system crosses that line. If it's not fun, why bother?
Hey i wanna ask when you mean all decorations of rarity does it mean does it include decos that are only from elder melder like Shaver(Clutch Claw Boost) and Diversion(Provoker) ?
First major kudos for the mod. Super appreciated! While using it, I seem to be getting a LOT of LV4 decorations. Almost exclusively in fact. Is this supposed to happen or am I misunderstanding how to use the mod?
i have the same "problem". especially melding tickets are literally all just level 4 decorations. This mod maybe overdid it a little in the lower level ranges. maybe i can fix that with the editor.
ok after some data mining i found the reason you and me both only get level 4 decorations. The mod author changed it so that each gem can only appear in one rarity. Normally, the water resistance jewel 1 for example can appear in rarity 1, 2, 3 and 4. the modder changed it so that level 1 resistance jewels can only appear on rarity 1 feystones. I would recommend deleting the "deco_lot.diot" file in "Monster Hunter World\nativePC\common\equip". Not sure if he edited the deco_grade_lot file but that seems to be decent, so you can keep it. I guess it is also improved over the normal file.
This is, as mentioned in a comment below, intentional. With this mod, you don't get a lot of base game decos in Iceborne feystones (or melding tickets, which is also an Iceborne thing), because I'm assuming that you enjoyed the endgame of the base game and already had a lot of these. I'm assuming that the player will not want any more rarity 5 or rarity 6 jewel when they enter Iceborne.
Also, Ancient feystone (and steel melding ticket) has a 6.5% chance of giving a rarity 7 deco, and a 3.5% chance of giving a rarity 8 deco. This does not seem a lot, but you get dozens of steel melding tickets and ancient feystones, so when you finish Iceborne you will actually get a lot of rarity 7 and rarity 8 decos, way more than you will ever need. Plus, guiding lands give out warped feystones very generously, so again rarity 7/8 decos shouldn't be a problem.
If you are already in Iceborne and don't want to go back to the base game to grind for rarity 5/6 decos, go ahead and edit the files to your liking :D
thanks for the mod. huge QOL improvement. ---------------------------
for new players that might get perplexed by that comment, thats not really an issue. yes, you wont receive many base game decorations (levels 1-3 ) with this mod once you move on master rank and into iceborne story. rarity 9+ feystones have miniscule chance to give level 1-3 decosrations. thats actually good. however you need good lower level decos as well. and thats how you ll get them:
for lower level decoration once you hit hunter rank 50 return to high rank and farm greatest jagras event. look for a vid how to make him drop decos. that should happen early-ish on iceborne. till then work with what you have from low level decorations from base game story.
farm greatest jagras for 5-6 hrs and you ll have all the low level decos you want. mod works even on the base game, so greatest jagras will yield better decoration drops as well. so you wont have to farm that event for days. 20-25 clears should give you pretty much everything from low level decos. it drops about 30 decos per run.
there is no other way to get many decos fast in base game, so dont bother until you hit HR 50, you ll just waste time.
basically this mod makes all decos of the same rarity to have decent chances chances to drop.
on hunter rank 50 you need to come back for some mantles too (rocksteady, impact, evasion) there are HR 50 events that make them obtainable fast. so make sure to return to high rank and check HR 50 events anyway. they should be a breeze to clear with master rank gear.
after iceborn story you ll gain a ton of steel tickets from steamworks. they also drop rare lvl 1-3 decos to complete. though if you do what i said with greatest jagras, you ll have a ton of low level decos anyway. in endgame you dont need too many copies of any of them anyway
Thanks Leon for the great work creating this mod, and thanks sfaxtis for explaining the revised instructions for how to efficiently get items with this mod. You will save me 1000-2000 hours of grinding.
Does anyone know if this mod still needs Stracker's Loader? I've read that the native folder is being loaded again on the vanilla iceborne game, enabling many mods to work with the proper nativePC folder structure and this seems to just be an altered drop table file right?

And yeah, I'm having a blast re-running the game!
