    Problems
If you have issues with this plugin, please report bugs at https://github.com/AnyOldName3/ModOrganizer-to-OpenMW/issues or ask on the OpenMW forums, OpenMW Discord, or MO2 Discord. I don't get email notifications for comments and bugs submitted here (even though I've turned on all the settings I can find for that).

    Linux/WINE
If you're using MO2 through WINE, this script will convert the Windows paths that get exported by the plugin to native Unix paths you can use through the Linux version of OpenMW: https://gitlab.com/-/snippets/2165310

    Known issues and workarounds

    • PermissionError: [WinError 5] Access is denied: 'C:\\Users\\User\\Documents\\My Games\\OpenMW\\openmw.cfg': This seems to be caused by Windows' Controlled Folder Access system, a security feature that stops things editing files in your user area automatically without asking you first. You can resolve this by adding a Controlled Folder Access exception for Mod Organizer 2 in Windows Defender.
    • [22:39:36.872 W] Warning: found duplicate file for 'D:/Morrowind/Data Files\Icons\s\B_Tx_S_fire_shield.dds', please check your file system for two files with the same name in different cases. and similar messages: You've run OpenMW through MO2 after using this plugin, even though the whole point of this plugin is that you don't need to do that. Launch OpenMW outside MO2 instead.

    Beta
There's a beta version of this available here: https://github.com/AnyOldName3/ModOrganizer-to-OpenMW/releases/tag/3.1.0-beta-2
It silences the deprecation warnings, and restores compatibility with MO2 2.2.x, at least in theory. I've had no reports from users of whether it actually achieves that last part, so if for some mad reason you're still using 2.2.x, please let me know whether this beta works.
No one reported back whether that beta did what it was supposed to, so it never became a release.

There's a beta version of this available both on GitHub and this Nexus page. It adds compatibility with MO2 2.5.x, but also breaks compatibility with anything older. It also introduces new features such as the ability to choose the openmw.cfg path and export non-Morrowind games which OpenMW is beginning to experiment with.

Does this just allow for managing the plugins, or does it work with OpenMW addons as well?

You're not using the latest version from here. You're using an old version.

      It's not a version issue.

It's an issue with the plugins folder as a whole.  It needs to be deleted and then the MO2 installation needs to be re-run.

just installed this today, after updating my MO2. Followed the directions, placing the file where it belongs within the folder structure.  Still getting errors.  Screen shot attached for proof of install date, file location (MO2 is installed in the base of LS, not a separate folder. works just fine this way until being updated) and to basically eliminate any comments declaring "you're using the wrong one".

Edit/Update: As of noon (-5 GMT) also tried the file from the github page as well. still erroring.

      Figured out the solution:

It's not a version issue as has been stated in other posts, after it was stated the latest version was installed.  It's an issue with the plugins folder as a whole.  It needs to be deleted and then the MO2 installation needs to be re-run.

Here's a slightly modified version of the script that supports .omwscripts + .omwaddon

For .omwaddons it gives you an error message, but if you just click "ignore" it usually works anyway

I no longer have access to my gaming pc atm but if you give me the error message, I can probably fix it.

Sorry didn't see that you replied. It's just the usual "The content of <data files> does not look valid" warning when you add them.

This looks like it enables every .omwaddon and every .omwscripts file in the VFS, but plenty of mods contain optional extra ones that you're not necessarily supposed to activate, so it's not something that's always a good idea. The philosophy of this plugin is that it exports the things MO2 knows how to handle, and leaves everything else alone, with the intention that I'll eventually get around to adding some level of support for everything else to MO2. In the meantime, there's Kezyma's OpenMW Player for MO2 which adds handling for things like groundcover files, .omwscripts and BSA archives that MO2 can't deal with yet.

Have you tried reading? For example, reading any of https://github.com/AnyOldName3/ModOrganizer-to-OpenMW#note, the descriptions for the betas in https://github.com/AnyOldName3/ModOrganizer-to-OpenMW/releases, the sticky comment on this Nexus page, the file descriptions also on the Nexus page, or even the last comment posted here before yours would be a good place to start.

If he did that he wouldn't be able to feel superior to the guy who likely just misinterpreted because it's actually not communicated well on the page for the casual person.

I had this issue with a completely separate plugin, and AnyOldName, your response is probably one of the succinctly worst responses you could have given. I'm sorry, but please just treat people, treat us, with respect.
I came here from across the internet after encountering the error in a totally different place to say this.

I've dealt with people asking this same question about a hundred times now. It is impossible to find a download link to this plugin that is more than twenty pixels from some bold text saying you need to use 3.x for MO2 2.4.x, and the 4.x beta for MO2 2.5.x. The first few tens of times it was asked, I went looking for more ways I could communicate it more clearly, but there's nowhere else to write it except as a face tattoo, and I don't think that'd actually be any clearer. If there's a download button I've not found, I'd love to hear about it so I can stop the torrent of comments and DMs I get, both here and on Discord, about this.

It's impossible to hit this problem except by refusing to read some text close enough to your mouse cursor that you must have seen it. It's impossible to post a comment here asking how to fix the problem without scrolling past the answer to the problem. I don't think it's respectful of other people's time to ask questions when the information's been right under your nose, and it's not a good use of the question-asker's time, either - if it's too much bother to read the text the first couple of times it's on your screen, surely it's too much hassle the third time. Learning to pay at least some attention to the text on the downloads page will save you loads of time in the long run. It'll also hopefully stop people DMing other mod and tool authors with similar questions in the future.

It's naive to think that it's safe to not respond, as when other people respond, they keep responding with incorrect information, like telling people to install Python (which won't make any difference to anything as MO2's got its own embedded Python interpreter and doesn't use the system one at all). If things were answered correctly, then I could leave it alone, but the incorrect answers just leave users still experiencing problems.

If the Nexus let me set up a bot that would respond to comments if they contained certain phrases or keywords, I'd do that, but there's no option to do it.

The plugin works fine, but as it says all over this comment section (including the sticky comment), the mod description, the files tab of this mod page (right next to the Download buttons), the GitHub description, and the GitHub releases section, you have downloaded a version that's meant for older MO2 versions for some reason, despite using a new MO2 version.

When I launch the game it shows a CMD terminal with these information and the game doesn't open. Anyone might know the cause of this issue? I'm suing the latest MO2 and OpeMW version, also I'm using the latest Python version too.

It looks like you've previously put things in the openmw.cfg that lives next to openmw.exe that are only supposed to go there if you've set up a portable install, but haven't set up a portable install. Reinstalling OpenMW should put that openmw.cfg back to how it's supposed to be, and all your mod setup should be in the on in Documents\My Games\OpenMW, so you shouldn't lose any data by doing that.

I think I might be dumb, but using this with the MO2 2.5.0 and after I use the tool (which directs to openmw.cfg) and launch the game, it's launching regular Morrowind, not OpenMW. Does this tool simply make it so I can manage OpenMW mods through MO2, but I still need to boot from the OpenMW launcher?
