The OpenMW version has been updated! It's now 99% like the original, but it's still a beta. There's a small chance that items could glitch on dropping, so please save before placing anything you can't replace. You can place and stack items anywhere now, and it should work.
You need to update OpenMW dev version to use this mod, as it relies on features still being added to the engine. Currently, a September 2024 or later release is recommended.
2.2beta5 and beta6 changes:
The code has been updated to work with changes in the OpenMW dev build (after July 2024), relating to bounding boxes.
Fixed object flickering when placing objects on banners and other objects using two-sided rendering.
Fixed object flickering when placing objects on the floor near walls when align-to-ground is enabled.
Known issues: When rotating a wall-mounted object, it may flicker or disappear at certain angle increments. It's a bug in OpenMW that needs addressing.
Love this mod, but how do you change which axis the object will rotate around? It seems to arbitrarily decide which axis that it is and often times I am frustratedly having to place and replace items until it decides to let me rotate along the desired axis.
The old Book Rotate mod features the ability to close any opened books. Would this be a feature that you would consider for a future Perfect Placement update? It's a struggle, not being able to close any opened books so that they can go with the closed ones on shelves.
if this ever gets an update, can we get a toggle to enable moving "owned" objects? Though i suppose players could simply pick up an item and stuff it down their pants when out of sight, isn't that sort of a realistic stealing mechanic in real life? if cheating/thieving is a concern, why not limit moving "owned" items to being in "sneak mode" and/or out of sight? What about limiting moveable "owned" items by their weight or monetary value? Perhaps manipulating "owned" items might simply lock you in place so you can't walk away.
if done correctly, this could even make thievery more strategic and fun. There should be SOME WAY to move "owned" items without rousing suspicion.
Would it be possible to script the witnesses or owners of objects to keep track of what you move somehow, so there might be an accepted threshold based on an NPC's disposition value for how many objects you can move, how long you've been holding/moving an item, or the distance traveled while holding it? That way the item's owner can call you out for fondling their belongings.
That said, i mostly just want the ability to move and rearrange items while shopping with other mods like 'Shopping Around', and to clean up messy NPCs' living spaces and fix out-of-place items. A simple toggle to enable moving "owned" items would work, even if it meant breaking immersion by potentially letting me steal junk more easily.
im running the OpenMW 0.49.0 RC2 that released 2 days ago. the description page for this mod says that it should be installed in "Documents/My Games/OpenMW/data" for Windows but there is no data folder in that location. where should this go? (NEVERMIND i created a folder in there and had to run openmw launcher in admin mode for it to leave the plugin enabled). Works!
im having a hard time finding where to extract to for the open mw installation, i tried the data files under steamapps/common/morrowind and i get the script to show up in the launcher, but nothing in game. any tips?
