Getting this mod to work was an absolute pain in the ass, I've gotta say. I'm leaving this here as a record of my problems and solutions that I had while installing this.
First and foremost, the original glass domes mod requires an older version of Project Atlas. From other replies in this thread I found that you can avoid downgrading by first installing the 0.7.0 version, find atlas_velothi.dds under "Project Atlas\01 Textures - Vanilla\Textures\atl" and copy it into "Project Atlas\Textures\atl" if your using MO2, or, if your installing manually, into the respective folder in your game directory.
Second, if your using an existing save, but have NOT entered any of the cantons, then you'll be perfectly fine, but if you HAVE, you'll find that the lighting of that interior has been baked and instead of using the mods dynamic exterior, it uses a dull brown skybox. There's some solution to this that I (fortunately) didn't need to use for my main character, but for those that may need it, you'll need to use Morrowind Enchanted Editor and delete the record of the cells from your save file. Don't ask me how, I'm just rephrasing what other people said lol - you might be better off using a different mod or just dealing with the lighting as it is.
Third, and probably the most obvious, don't forget to generate distant lands again if your using MGE XE!
I also have a couple of recommendations for anybody using this - if you're using distant lands, don't bother with transparent exteriors or glow in the dahrk with flicker - you'll just end up annoyed because they don't render with distant lands and therefore pop in at a certain distance, making it exceedingly jarring to play with and frankly not worth it as, in practice, you'll only be able to see one or two cantons at a time with the added effects. Instead, "glow in the dahrk still" is much friendlier on the eyes and less jarring, although I might change this once I actually get to play with it, as it does still pop in, but instead of being yellow like the flicker setting, its green and is less noticeable. The rest of the options are up to you guys!
P.S. If anyone knows how to get Glow in the Dahrk, Distant Lands, and these domes to work nicely together, please leave a reply! I tried my best getting it to work, but if I'm being honest, I'm way in over my head with this stuff and I feel like I've tortured myself enough for one Morrowind playthrough ;)
Edit: The load order in this mod is also very picky, and can result in the same brown sky effect in the cantons, so I found that putting the mod and its various .esps at the bottom of the load order did the trick for the cantons, and the Welcome to the Arena override just needs to be put above all of them. So for me the order goes: Welcome_to_the_Arena_v6.7_OV.esp -> Glass Domes of Vivec_atmospheric arena.esp -> Glass Domes of Vivec.esp, with Glass Domes being last to load. Might need to be tinkered with depending on your load order/mods.
Nice, gonna pin that. I'll try to eventually, somewhere in the rather distant future, remedy at least parts of what you mentioned. It does need an update.
Thanks VirusX76 for the post, helped me fix my issue... the mod worked fine then suddenly the textures turned opaque inside, while still being transparent from the outside... couldn't figure it out, reinstalling mod didn't help, until I tried your load order solution, and now it's fixed! I can't imagine playing without this mod anymore, so many thanks!
In case anyone is using this mod in conjunction with mikeandike's Vivec and Velothi Retexture, I've published an atlased version of those which also includes the legacy unified atlas that this mod uses. Check it out!
Having custom Velothi ATLASed textures (arkitektora, using only 1 atlas texture and not two) and still not being able to solve my graphical problems (exterior cantons where blacks), I managed to "solve" them by deleting exterior cells edits and leaving the interiors untouched. The interiors look too sweet to pass up. If it can help someone (and the author accepts), I'll upload the fixed .esp (it's the atmospheric arena one).
Hi, it's been a minute but I think I used the tes3 version of xEdit. About uploading, I never got the author's permission, and that mod loadout is long gone on my drive so I can't upload.
Could you please update the mod with the new atlas texture? This mod is gorgeous, and I love it so much- but no matter what I do, I can’t get it to work. I’ve tried making custom ATLASed textures, I’ve even tried using nifscope to rework the cantons from scratch- but I’m just not knowledgeable enough.
it’s a shame really, because this mod is incredible
Anyone have problems on OpenMW? I have unfortunately visited the foreign canton top floor before installing the mod, and was pleasantly surprised by the place being completely flooded (like some sort of fish bowl). And I have the aforementioned purple cantons, due to new version of atlas.
Well, I got the mod working as best I could, after totally flubbing the compatibility with TLAD-Necro for a long time and screaming at a brown sky (Embarassing). Just a little disappointed I wasn't able to remedy some seams created by UV maps that I can't seem to to touch in NifSkope. Shame that all the cantons can't be lit at night with the GITD patch, seems like a cell loading limitation, possible circumventable with MGEXE or something, as I'm using OpenMW.
Picture of the culprit. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. https://ibb.co/sgh5LtD https://ibb.co/ZmRPpsX
EDIT: Ran into issues with all NPCs swimming in the void below the plazas. Issues could just be my mod combinations. Choosing not to use this one currently.
