Thank you :) Tho I notice that etc fire damage from a campfire has the same sound as a sword attack? Tho I dont realy mind its not that common that happens haha. btw do you know of any good sound mods for armor/footsteps etc for Openmw?
That happens because Morrowind uses one hit sound for all generic damage, so it will play the same sound for fall damage etc as it does for combat sounds. It's a limitation of the original game. As for a good general sound overhaul I recommend Morrowind Acoustic Overhaul, it mostly works with OpenMW. You need to disable some of its .esps that don't work in OpenMW, just make sure to read the readme. Unfortunately MAO is kinda hard to find nowadays because it uses copyrighted files but you can still find it with some googling.
These are great but I wouldn't mind a normalized version— most vanilla sounds peak at 0dB or are at least heavily compressed, so these sound very quiet in the Morrowind soundscape.
That is something I forgot to take into account. I balanced these sounds with Morrowind Acoustic Overhaul installed. The vanilla sound balancing is pretty terrible.
I took the files into Audacity and bumped them all up by 5 db. Only one file peaked and only by like 1%. I think since you've balanced the sounds already, just giving 'em a little boost like that will help it compete with the other blaringly loud sounds of vanilla Morrowind. The volume mixer in the options can easily cancel out the 5 db. Love the sounds. Though I do miss the impact that the vanilla sounds had on-hit but its a great trade-off regardless. Thanks.
Is there anyway for the mod to play from a pool of a few variant sounds? Like the swoosh being slightly different on each swing of the sword? Or armor hits having a bit of variation. Seems the way that's how Skyrim does it or more modern games. Would reduce samey-ness.
