When i first downloaded the mod i was disappointed i couldn't get it to work, but i finally got the time to test and troubleshoot it fully and i figured out what my problem was. After using it for a while, i think more players need to try this!! i think more players would appreciate what it does if there was a slightly better description, instructions, and maybe a few options to make it more user-friendly, so i have a few suggestions :
- instructions could be clearer. The concept sound so simple, but i ran into confusion immediately. (though, admittedly, i am an idiot...) The keys i bound (Z and X) weren't working while standing still except for while sneaking, but once i tried them while moving (holding W), it suddenly worked for walk speed. Then i couldn't figure out how to tweak running speed at all until i toggled run with caps lockand holding W. i don't know why, or if this was even the intended method, but the "fix" was so frustratingly simple that i wished there was a readme, an on-screen explanation or warning in the config menu that one must be moving (if that's even intended) and that always run must me toggled, not held.
- What if once the player finds the walk speeds values they like, they could bind a custom walk speed value to different custom hotkey? Like ALT+1 for 0.5x (slowest), ALT+2 for 0.7x (slower), ALT+3 for default, ALT+4 for 1.25x (or something else between walk and run)
- Or give users a space to input their own numeric values, since characters' speed stats can vary so much.
- it would be super convenient if the mouse scroll wheel could be used in conjunction with ALT (so as not to mess with camera zoom and existing keybinds) to increase/decrease speed. That would feel more intuitive, and smoother since the values are only modified by 0.025 at a time.
- i appreciate the ability to tweak run speed but it feels a bit superfluous compared to the usefulness of walk and sneak speeds. With enough tweaking to the speed controls and broadening your characters' "walk" speed, walking could function as both slow-walking and jogging all the way up to running, while the current "run" function could serve as a "sprint" like Skyrim's movement system. (third-person animations wouldn't look so smooth from a walk to a jog or run unfortunately, but first-person perspective would still look fine)
- The on-screen display was VERY helpful for finding a value i liked, but once i figured it out, it would be nice if i could toggle it off for immersion, assuming preset and custom values are made possible. Characters' stats dictate speed, so values will vary between player and their tastes. Visible numeric values are helpful, but also a bit intrusive. A simple ON/OFF toggle would suffice.
...OR...
- it would certainly be more work, but what about HUD icons, like the little weapon/magic windows with their little bars underneath? Maybe different icons for walk, run and sneak with the bar on bottom showing your current speed setting? (sorry, i know i'm pushing it...)
- While the mod is certainly convenient for starting characters with low speed stats, being able to increase your characters' movement speed beyond what they're level or trained for feels too much like a cheat. Could you add a toggle to disable speeds above 1.000? -or cap it at 1.5 and greatly multiply stamina usage to match with a cap determined by character stats somehow?
- Lastly, the name of the mod only hints at what it does. i don't know what else to call it or how to "advertise" its use and purpose, Something like "Custom Movement Speed"? GSpeed or GodSpeed sounds neat but it doesn't suggest much except that it's probably another "cheating" tool. Personally, i intent to use it for immersion, but that's just me. it could be the next best thing to analog WASD control.
i see a lot more potential in this as a character movement overhaul than a simple "make-your-character-run-super-fast mod".
Granted, i know near nothing about Morrowind modding, but it feels like the modding scene has exploded with near limitless possibilities with LUA script. Lately i've been seeing a lot of cool mods and concept ideas that were proposed and deemed "impossible" way back in the mid 2000s that have since become reality, so please forgive me if what i'm suggesting isn't realistic, or more work than it sounds. :) Again, i think this mod would be more widely appreciated (even required) by more players if they better understood how useful it is. At least as an immersive movement tool, rather than a cheat mod. For instance, Archimag's recent impact Sounds is a good example of game mechanics i didn't realize were missing -and i now can't live without. i think Custom Walk Movement Speed, or whatever you decide to call it is one of those game mechanics that everyone will appreciate, and won't be able to live without once they try it!
Well, it all came from trying to get a quick and dirty mod for a simple/well defined request on reddit channel, I did not think much about it as a mod for wide audience. About the name, it is just me as non-english speaker playing with english ways of saying. About mods not working with certain keys assigned, often it is a conflict with another Lua mod using the same key shortcut, so that is the 1st thing to check usually

So thanks for making it. :)
