This version is from my personal files, downloaded in 2004. It contains a comprehensive User Manual, ESTemplate ini and other ancillary files. The versions archived on various other sites don't include these extras.
Sorry but the installation process is a little confusing, as currently written. Let me see if I understand what it is trying to do.
First we create a folder named Enchanted Editor in our Morrowind game folder. Steam users would be [C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Morrowind].
We run the setup, this asks for a location to install to [loc#1]. After it installs the files to loc#1 it then runs the installer we just installed. It asks for a location to install to [loc#2].
loc#1 would be say program files? [C:\Program Files (x86)\Morrowind Enchanted Editor] loc#2 would be say [C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Morrowind\Enchanted Editor].
Then we should continue using the installer to install the optional support files. It is unclear if the program would like us to use use loc#2 or loc#1. Indeed it defaults to [C:\Program Files\Morrowind Enchanted Editor] which the installer helpfully tells us does not exist.
Then there is the helpful help files, which we are told to "...copy the Enchanted Manual folder to the "Enchanted Editor" folder." Again this might be either loc#2 or loc#1. Also should we endup with files in [Enchanted Editor/Enchanted Manual] or just [Enchanted Editor]. Either way round, when I run the editor, the help tab does nothing.
Please, on the description for the 'mod' take the time to write out the exact steps we need to follow, using lots of words and descriptions.
Finally, maybe warn folks to have a magnifing glass handy, as modern users may be using resolutions which leave the text tiny.
Thank you for bringing this mod out of the archives, obviously I have taken an intrerest in it, but got a little lost along the way.
Yep, but the last time, I had to find three different files (program, manual, ESTemplate.ini) at three different locations. I had to search for them. For old fans like me, that might be fine. But for the rest of humanity, this is far too much of a hurdle. Files are on Nexus – or in Nirvana.
And when the tool becomes better known among younger people again, there may be even someone who wants to improve it.
