MAKE YOUR OWN UPDATE FOR A REALISTIC BATTLE MOD!!!
For all those who use the Realistic Battle Mod, I will post a tutorial on how to update yourself. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, I will not be able to do updates for Warlords Battlefield for over a year. In the latest version of Warlords Battlefield RBM 1.2.0, there are only two RBM swap files present. If you are playing RBM take a look at the tutorial below, you will have to make the changes on your own because the RBM author has not updated RBM for Bannerlord version 1.2.0 yet.
Go to Warlords Battlefield RBM ---> ModuleData ---> items_special ---> items_missile ---> open and copy everything from:
<!-- ************************************************** Aserai Arrows ************************************************** --> <!-- ************************************************** Till ************************************************** --> <!-- ************************************************** End ************************************************** -->
Go to RBM ---> ModuleData ---> RBMCombat_arrow_visuals ---> ---> paste everything and save (DO NOT DELETE OR REPLACE THE ORGINAL RBM FILES JUST ADD MY FILES)
Go to Warlords Battlefield RBM ---> ModuleData ---> items_special ---> items_ranged ---> open and copy everything from:
<!-- ************************************************** Short Bows ************************************************** --> <!-- ************************************************** Till ************************************************** --> <!-- ************************************************** End ************************************************** -->
Go to RBM ---> ModuleData ---> RBMCombat_ranged ---> ---> paste everything and save (DO NOT DELETE OR REPLACE THE ORGINAL RBM FILES JUST ADD MY FILES)
Go to RBM ---> ModuleData ---> RBMCombat_axe_pieces ---> Find 2 pieces:
Make sure the troop overhaul for RBM is turned off. It's activated by default. Put the mod and dependencies at the bottom of your mod list. I have almost all of the same mods plus some and the load order is:
-Harmony stack -Native modules -All other mods -Warlord Battlefield -Tier 7 Troop Unlocker -RBM -Armor Mods and their RBM patches
Was having the same issue where troops were all native when this Mod was at the top or middle of the load order and dropping them to the bottom fixed it. Otherwise, delete the mod folder entirely and redownload it.
Guide by frel123:
I have a strange problem, all the elite archers of the Sturgia shoot at obstacles and not at the troops themselves or do not finish shooting about half the distance. If the enemy is behind the hill my archers shoot into the hill... I don't know what to do with it.
I understood why, I violated the mod load order, and put it after the RBM.. This is what caused the bug.
Guide by sanyaogsanyaog:
I've fixed the problem with Improved Garrisons. It caused the problem with not-shooting archers on one hand, and vanilla troops on the other. You must place RBM + submodules at the bottom of the mod list, and above them, 7Tier and Warlord should be placed (the upper one is Warlord), and at the very very button of the list, IG should be placed, after Warlord + RBM.
Hello. I really like your mod, I can’t imagine the game without this mod! But on game version 1.2.9 your mod does not work. I tried all possible options, put it on a clean version of the game without other mods, the result is always the same, exactly after a game day the game crashes.
I was able to play on 1.2.9 for something like 100 days with no issues. Make sure to use the T7 unlocker for Harmony, and follow load order in the sticky note. The RBM version doesn't work with simple Vortex installation, manual required. Disable RBM troop overhaul.
Sorry, could you explain what that means "troop overhaul".? I use this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/mountandblade2bannerlord/mods/791 And for him I put this - Warlords Battlefield RBM 1.2.0
1) The option provided in the sticky, where you copy the RBMCombat_ files in Warlord Battlefield's ModuleData folder, and paste them in the respective directory of Realistic Battle Mod, and overwrite them. Since you load RBM after WB, its files are properly read. This method works, but it's not proper.
2) Troop mods that have RBM versions and have modified those files should never load before Realistic Battle Mod. It simply makes no sense. It is Realistic Battle Mod first, and then armors / items, and their patches, and then you can have troop mods. Those troop mods if done right can have RBM item files within and load just fine -after- the combat mod.
How? Do the initial few lines of 1) above, but after you copy these four files, paste them in Warlords Battlefield/Module Data/. You can actually rename these if you would like. You can also have them inside a folder like the other items, but I wouldn't, it would require re-doing them all (I am not sure). Next, go to submodule.xml and reference these four files like this. If you would like to add a separator for these in that file, go ahead.
With this, it would look like a normal troop mod with RBM-patched items and would likely work as intended, if the mod itself still works for the latest version, which I cannot confirm, but I can confirm that archers do not shoot at the ground like assholes with this method back when I used it a year ago.
Guys, this is my test about the top 3 unit for each class (Warlord Battlefield version 1.1.2 RBM version 3.8.5) (excluding skirmisher, and pikemen as they serve specific purpose)
How the test is conducted: open field, The troop are fared against each other on their specific categories 200 vs 200, on 5 rounds
I use Enhanced battle test with the following settings: 1. custom tactics 100 2. 1 general for each (RBM crash without general enabled) 3. use fast forward of RBM settings
for infantry: 1. Battanian Flaith Companion 2. Strugian Dismounted Boyar 3. Aserai Ghulam (its the tankiest of them all)
for shock Infantry (infantry with no shield): 1. Empire Elite Menavlion (Spear shock infantry! Spear absolutely rule in RBM, win by a landslide against other shock infantry) 2. Vlandian King's guard (Absolutely stomped other shock infantry at times lose against Aserai Sultan guard, but consistently lose against menavlion) 3. Sturgian Tsar's guard
for archer: 1. Battanian Elite Fian (stomps against other archer) 2. Aserai Al - khass (close 2nd) 3. Sturgian Duma Svita
for cavalry: 1. Empire Imperial Elite Catahpract (Stomp against other cavalry, especially good when they're dismounted making this the only versatile cavalry no shield means theyre vulnerable to Archer though) 2. Khuzait Khan's guard (although glaive are nerfed significantly in RBM, its still quite good, but when dismounted they lose terribly against any other infantry) 3. Sturgian Boyar and Vlandian Banner knight (Tied, could go either one)
for Horse archer: 1. Empire Elite Clibanarii (Heavy armor, and Spear need I say more? They absolutely rule in RBM especially after they significantly nerfed sword and axe, RBM really needs to make Axe have a percentage of blunt damage, axe absolutely trash in RBM) 2. Noyans Heavy Kharvaach 3. Sturgian Dvoryanin cavalry (too skilled, I think this is the best Horse archer troop in term of its functionality)
Overall I think playing Warlord Battlefield without RBM is the best way to play, until RBM fixed they're damage calculation on cut weapon, I suggest turn off RBM and play Warlord Battlefield without RBM. If you like RBM the only troop overhaul that I found is good is De Re Military.
Also, Battanian Suckzz azz in RBM, Rhompaian and Falx absolutely trash, that's why I suggest turn off RBM combat module. If you do play without combat module though and you use Auto Solve Rebalance that RBM recommends, make sure to turn off the AI vs AI battle, or else Khuzait will rule the world :(
I'll edit more when I reach the endgame about RBM and Warlord Battlefield, for now my test is just a dirty test of the troops.
Okay, so my new opinion on RBM + Warlord: It's actually pretty balance, and the troop tier that I make before is when it's against each other, where they weren't use for their purpose What I mean is this : 1. cavalry Archer is supposed to use kiting tactic against cavalryt to disperse them , and it was suppose to counter shock troop. But Countered by infantry.
2. Cavalry is supposed to counter infantry, skirmisher cavalry is supposed to be the BEST counter against infantry, but it's countered mildly by spear infantry.
3. Shock infantry is to counter infantry and skirmisher, while have a weakness to Archer or cavalry Archer.
4. Skirmisher infantry counter infantry (dismantling their shield) while they got obliterate by shock infantry
5. Archer is countered by infantry and cavalry, being better fared against crossbow
6. Crossbow is use to counter infantry (cuz their crossbow had more power against shield) while still weak against cavalry
7. Crossbow mounted Archer is to counter infantry while still extremely mobile (hence why Archer and cavalry Archer counter crossbowman)
The point is, each faction has their own troops and their specific use of troop composition, the tier list is just a test against each other which isn't a real world case. I'll be conducting another test to see which troops is best at what they're doing but for now this is some of the unique troops from what I saw from the equipment.
For infantry : 1. Aserai Ghulam seems really good against other infantry and it's unique where their shield had 2000 health but small making them perfect to stall time in infantry while they're other troop is doing all the work (aserai has a really solid cavalry Archer, Archer, and an especially mameluke sultan guard, where they had a mace to obliterate any heavy infantry like palantina or praetorian for example) 2. Empire Palantina, a heavy infantry where they have a medium size shield, but a really heavy armor, making them really great against cut arrow (battania elite fian) and a spear as well, making them very versatile. 3. Empire praetorian, less armored than palantina but has a very big shield and a pilum to one shot any shield infantry. Equipped with shield as well. Big shield mean they hold out more arrow but simple armored mean they really weak against cut arrow, and lose any fight once theyre big shield gone
Archer Nothing special from each faction, remember though Although crossbow loses against Archer (they had lower range and slow reload) they're better suited against infantry due to their power to penetrate through armor and shield
Cavalry 1. Aserai vanguard faris Make sure to use their javelin to destroy infantry shield only! Needs micro management to do that though, but I'd you like to use troops doing what they're supposed to do, this guy absolutely obliterate any shield infantry you came across. Make sure they use only their javelin to destroy slow infantry though.. Theyre Jered had limited amount so, it's best to make the shot count... 2. Aserai Emir Unique in a sense that they Had the best one hand sword of any cavalry, meaning once not the best at what cavalry are supposed to do, but they win against any other cavalry one on one foot on the ground battle 3. Sturgian boyar Has the longest spear of any cavalry, their one hand sword skill also the highest of any cavalry, their horse also is the 2nd best of the cavalry 4. Vlandian Banner knight Classic vlandian, had the best armor, and horse of any cavalry. Their sword are lackluster though...
Cavalry Archer 1. Khuzait khans Kharvaach The best at what they do, had 2 quiver that are all pierced. And the best bow of all Cavs Archer. They only had a small sword though, and no shield mean they got obliterated from any arrow from any side... High risk, high reward... If you prefer a safer approach from khuzait their other cavalry is better and are better armored too. 2. Aserai Elite aswar Camels and long spear! Untouchable from melee position, high charge damage as well. Though low armored camel... Also, who doesn't love camel just roaming around wrecking havoc? 3. Vlandian Royal horse sharpshooter Better suited against slow moving infantry, crossbow means they can destroy infantry shield much better, but absolutely worse in other areas... Probably need a little buff, but they're crossbow is no joke against armored and shielded units.
I'll be conducting the test on their specific role when I have time... But for now these are the unit that are kind of a honorable mention, from the tier list.
Battania really need another buff though..., fall and rhompaian are a joke in RBM... What I suggest is giving them a higher athletics and more skill on their respective weapon to overcome their equipment weakness...
Hello! Interesting tests. But in my opinion:Today this is the most thoughtful and atmospheric mod for troops. But this mod is only for Cavalry. Compared with RBM horses, horses WB have more speed, health points, chardge damage ( x3 times), maneuverability. Playing as infantry is just HELL! DRM Playing as infantry (only infantry units in hero army) - hard but quite playable. IMHO: Horses need to be nerf If you are interested, test how much infantry (legionnaires) you need against cavalry of the same level in order to confidently defeat 5 times vs 100 horsemen of the empire of the same tier. Only with RBM. WB troops, DRM, Vanilla troops, RBM troops. I spent a lot of time testing the game myself. The results will be interesting.
I'm running Bannerlord 1.2.10, and have downloaded the RBM compatible version of the mod, and installed the 4 data files into RBM itself, before Loading, from top to bottom;
-Warlord Battlefield -Tier 7 Troop Unlocker -RBM
However ranged units, especially crossbowmen, cant aim or hit anything beyond 20 feet or in front of them. They aim high into the sky but all the bolts come down way before the intended target.
I'm at a loss of what I'm supposed to do to fix this. There are no other mods modifying troop trees, and through testing, the Blood and Smoke mod I'm running doesn't affect this either. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The issue you have with range of missiles is linked to Blood and Smoke mod. I read on that page a few weeks ago about people having the same issue. Check there for resolving that issue.
I see your RBM very low in your load order. It is recommended to have RBM much higher in your load order, ideally just below the vanilla modules. I would also put all the item mods, i.e. OpenSource Armoury etc higher in the load order, ideally just after RBM. This allows other mods like new troops etc. to use items from the Open Armoury.
Crossbowmen are useless! They shoot barely 20 - 30 meters in front without reaching the enemy at all. I don't have Blood and Smoke Mod, although I followed all the instructions indicated in their forum. I put all loading orders indicated on this page in several ways. And still, this game is unplayable with useless missile units.
Hi, I love the troop reworks! Higher skilled fighters make sieges much more challenging.
Only one thing bothers me personally: Why did Battanian Fians get a shield instead of another quiver? That makes them pretty much useless for anything but small skirmishes and the Battanians having worse archers than any other faction. I think they also should have bodkin arrows, instead of barbed ones. They are supposed to be the best archers in the game, make em strong again! <3
I guess u never heard the rumors about woman got tired of raising kids on Battania so they make a specific clan that specialized in archery? they are called the Dryads
I am using the Vortex launcher, I downloaded the mod and activated it through the launcher (also checked them mod folder and verified its there) - yet in the game the normal troop trees still appear? How am I supposed to use this mod of I use the Vortex launcher?
The Non-RBM file (Warlords Battlefield 1.2.0 - version 1.1.2) is corrupted and cannot be extracted. I use WinRAR and the displays an error message. Also, the file size on Nexus is ~200MB but the downloaded file's actual size is only 3MB, which is weird. Please check again, thank you.
Hello , i have the latest version , version 2.11 and it seems that all the troops are mixed, vanilla and warlords , i left just the warlords mod and rbm active and the same thing! if someone has a solution, please let me know! for me this mod is a must!
the mod runs fine, but i cannot recruit any of your troops. Only vanilla troops are recruitable but everyone else has the troops and i see them in the game.
i try to move this mod to the bottom of the load order, but then all the troops show up naked?

For infantry :
1. Aserai Ghulam seems really good against other infantry and it's unique where their shield had 2000 health but small making them perfect to stall time in infantry while they're other troop is doing all the work (aserai has a really solid cavalry Archer, Archer, and an especially mameluke sultan guard, where they had a mace to obliterate any heavy infantry like palantina or praetorian for example)
Archer
Nothing special from each faction, remember though Although crossbow loses against Archer (they had lower range and slow reload) they're better suited against infantry due to their power to penetrate through armor and shield
Cavalry
1. Aserai vanguard faris
Make sure to use their javelin to destroy infantry shield only!
2. Aserai Emir
Unique in a sense that they Had the best one hand sword of any cavalry, meaning once not the best at what cavalry are supposed to do, but they win against any other cavalry one on one foot on the ground battle
3. Sturgian boyar
Has the longest spear of any cavalry, their one hand sword skill also the highest of any cavalry, their horse also is the 2nd best of the cavalry
4. Vlandian Banner knight
Classic vlandian, had the best armor, and horse of any cavalry. Their sword are lackluster though...
Cavalry Archer
1. Khuzait khans Kharvaach
The best at what they do, had 2 quiver that are all pierced. And the best bow of all Cavs Archer. They only had a small sword though, and no shield mean they got obliterated from any arrow from any side... High risk, high reward... If you prefer a safer approach from khuzait their other cavalry is better and are better armored too.
2. Aserai Elite aswar
Camels and long spear! Untouchable from melee position, high charge damage as well. Though low armored camel... Also, who doesn't love camel just roaming around wrecking havoc?
3. Vlandian Royal horse sharpshooter
Better suited against slow moving infantry, crossbow means they can destroy infantry shield much better, but absolutely worse in other areas...
IMHO: Horses need to be nerf
If you are interested, test how much infantry (legionnaires) you need against cavalry of the same level in order to confidently defeat 5 times vs 100 horsemen of the empire of the same tier. Only with RBM. WB troops, DRM, Vanilla troops, RBM troops.
I spent a lot of time testing the game myself. The results will be interesting.
I'm running Bannerlord 1.2.10, and have downloaded the RBM compatible version of the mod, and installed the 4 data files into RBM itself, before Loading, from top to bottom;
-Warlord Battlefield
-Tier 7 Troop Unlocker
-RBM
However ranged units, especially crossbowmen, cant aim or hit anything beyond 20 feet or in front of them. They aim high into the sky but all the bolts come down way before the intended target.
I'm at a loss of what I'm supposed to do to fix this. There are no other mods modifying troop trees, and through testing, the Blood and Smoke mod I'm running doesn't affect this either. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This is my load order.

Best of luck with it.
I don't have Blood and Smoke Mod, although I followed all the instructions indicated in their forum.
I put all loading orders indicated on this page in several ways. And still, this game is unplayable with useless missile units.
Any ideas on how to fix it?
Only one thing bothers me personally:
Why did Battanian Fians get a shield instead of another quiver? That makes them pretty much useless for anything but small skirmishes and the Battanians having worse archers than any other faction. I think they also should have bodkin arrows, instead of barbed ones.
They are supposed to be the best archers in the game, make em strong again! <3
Thanks for the mod! :)
Please check again, thank you.
the mod runs fine, but i cannot recruit any of your troops. Only vanilla troops are recruitable but everyone else has the troops and i see them in the game.
i try to move this mod to the bottom of the load order, but then all the troops show up naked?
how can i fix this?
No RBM
