By the way, if anyone has played De Re Militari, I like the concept of it, but with customizable xp, maybe we don't need such specific short troop trees. Give everyone a bit of possibilities, as long as they can survive more battles.
Hi. Thanks for the mod. I don't understand how to make sure it works. I installed Main file-Troop Tier Tweaks, in MCM menu I specified experience parameters for getting the next level. However, my level 7 soldiers do not have an experience progress bar. And, despite the fact that there were already several large battles - no one got lvl 8. What am I doing wrong?
Hey! Thanks for trying out my mod. It's hard to diagnose with only this much context. Maybe you can share with me your mod list and load order, then let's see if we can slowly drill down to the root cause. Perhaps also maybe a screenshot of the MCM menu config setting. Just the XP cost part. I suspect since the XP cost cap was increased to 1m, it's much harder to fine-tune the slider now. Cheers!
Thanks for sharing. From your mod list, it doesn't seem like there is a troop overhaul mod that exceeds T7. To my knowledge, Warlord: v1.0.9.0 only has troop definition up to T7 only. You can check the troop tree to see if there is anymore branching units after this unit.
sorry, I didn't quite get it. do i need some additional mod to see new troop levels? I thought your mod would just add the ability to level up vanilla wax.
No worries. My mod allows other mod to create troops definition past T6. For example, Warlord has max T7 troops, my mod would enable you to upgrade troops to T7 (max troop tier for Warlord mod). Boogies has max T13 troops, my mod would enable you to upgrade troops to T13 (max troop tier defined for Boogies Troops).
So my mod by itself, does not do anything. So if you have my mod installed and use vanilla troops, the max will be T6, vanilla's max troop tier. I didn't create any custom troop trees; so my mod don't add any additional troops.
Hey! I'm using ATC to create custom troop trees, and all the troop editing is done straight in their xml files, what's the respective level for each tier? I know native goes 6, 11, 16, 21, 26, 31. Is it just to keep increasing their level by 5 for each tier?
Hey! Previously when I was taking a look at MLW, I made a python script to generate the troop tier template that MLW uses based on the number of tiers I wanted. I didn't upload it before since it sort of wasn't part of this mod. But I think it would add great value to this mod, since you can technically have your own unique army with high tiers. So I have uploaded the script in the Miscellaneous section.
Edit Config.xml to the desired number of tiers. (e.g. 15 Tiers) Warning! Too high tier can cause the script to take a very long time to complete. <TroopTiers>15</TroopTiers>
Then run this command (you will need python to run this script): ο»Ώpython CreateTroopsXml.py It will generate troops.xml into the output folder.
Also to answer your question, yes, those level increments are correct. 6, 11, 16, 21, 26, 31....
I am very willing to try this mod, but I have some few questions.
First, is this compatible with another mods that add troops? cuz I am playing a modpack already that does have quite some troops, so will it work or do I have to remove those mods?
Second, will those troops be available for the bots too? Because...well, I would be OP if I was wandering with T18-T20 250 soldiers party around some T4-T5 parties. It would break the game.
Finally, what troops does this provide? Like, will the elite cataphracts be able to turn into tier 20, or will it add new troops that has tier 20?
Hi, so this mod is just a troop tier unlocker which unlocks troop to T20, it doesn't overhaul any troop unit itself.
So Boogies Troop Upgrades for example. If you just use Boogies mod without any troop tier unlocker, you will only see troops up to T6, which is the game's default max Tier.
But if you download any troop tier unlocker, for example this mod. It allows troops to reach higher tiers, only if you have a mod that overhauls their troops to that higher tier.
Boogies mod has troops overhauled up till T13. Warlord Battlefield has troops overhauled up till T7. My Little Warband is able to cater to T7 with their patch. Technically you can increase My Little Warband troop template up to T20, but you have to create your own patch. If you don't have any troop overhaul mods, this mod won't do anything for you, because it works for troops T7 and up.
So to answer your question, it doesn't add any new troops. Troops unlocked will apply to AI too, they can also upgrade their troops above T6. If the current troop overhaul you are using doesn't implement any troops above T6, then you won't see any difference using this mod.
Hope I was able to help. Have a wonderful day and enjoy the game! :)
Is there a reason why the max troop XP cost is capped at 5000 in the MCM options? Could it possibly be increased to a million or is there some hardcoded limit a bit above 5000? I'm considering making my own elite troop mod, but I want the modded troops to be excessively rare and powerful, hence a big cost in XP above the 5000 cap, which this mod unfortunately disallows.
I just felt that 5000 was quite reasonable, I tried with higher numbers but leveling was quite difficult. No worries, I can increase the cap further. I'll release another version with increased cap.
Well. So far the only mod I know of that takes troops tier above 6 are the ones listed in my mod description. There are probably some troops overhaul mods floating around that I am not aware of yet, since I haven't really been digging around. Afaik, Boogies is the only mod that takes troops overhaul to T13.
Thanks for the great mod! I have been really enjoying using this! If I have understood the mod option right, we can currently only modify xp required from t5-t6 and t6-t7 (noble troop) then that applies to all other higher tier troops. Would you consider adding options to modify xp required for troops upgrade beyond t6-t7 individually?
I think MLW has implemented custom troops the best so far.
Technically we are able to patch MLW on our own to include tiers higher than 7. However, each tier branches off to 2 upgrade targets, sort of like a perfect binary tree. So at T12, you have like 2048 possible branches.
An alternative which I can think of is to have a linear upgrade path after T6 / T7. Which means after T6 / T7, the troops will just have 1 upgrade target; in my opinion much more achievable. But I have never tried it before, so I'm not sure if linear upgrade path will work on MLW.
We could suggest this concept to MLW, hopefully the devs works something out. π

Let me come up with something for the next update.

From your mod list, it doesn't seem like there is a troop overhaul mod that exceeds T7.
To my knowledge, Warlord: v1.0.9.0 only has troop definition up to T7 only.
You can check the troop tree to see if there is anymore branching units after this unit.
For example,
Warlord has max T7 troops, my mod would enable you to upgrade troops to T7 (max troop tier for Warlord mod).
Boogies has max T13 troops, my mod would enable you to upgrade troops to T13 (max troop tier defined for Boogies Troops).
So my mod by itself, does not do anything. So if you have my mod installed and use vanilla troops, the max will be T6, vanilla's max troop tier.
