# Need for Speed Most Wanted RETEX Mod

## Installation Guide

Thank you for choosing the Need for Speed Most Wanted RETEX mod! Follow the steps below to enhance your gaming experience with improved textures and visuals.

### Prerequisites
- A copy of Need for Speed Most Wanted installed on your PC.
- Mod is compatible with almost all existing mods
- Download and install the necessary modding tools to apply the RETEX mod.

### Installation Steps

1. **Backup Original Files:**
- Before proceeding, make a backup of your existing NEXTGENGRAPHICS FOLDER. To avoid any issues, simply rename the existing folder to NEXTGENGRAPHICS_BACKUP OR WHATEVER YOU WANT TO.


2. **Download Mod:**
- Download the latest version of the RETEX mod from the Google Drive link:

3. **Installation:**
- Extract the contents of RETEX_V1.7_.rar into the game directory where speed.exe is located.
- Open RETEX VISUALS AND MORE.rar file. Drag and Drop Attribloader.asi and AttribMods folder into the game directory for RETEX CUSTOM VISUALS AND OTHER SETTINGS
[You can skip Attribloader.asi if you already have it installed].
- Drag and drop SCRIPTS folder into the game directory.
- [You can skip the SCRIPTS FOLDER if you already have NextGenGraphics.MostWanted.asi].
- It is recommended to use Dxvk d3d9.dll for faster loading of textures [THIS MAY DIFFER AS PER YOUR SYSTEM SPEC].
- Open VLTed v4.6 → Open game directory → Press CTRL+i to install script
→ Select RETEX_TIRE_SMOKE.nfsms from VLTed folder included in RETEX VISUALS AND MORE. [ To uninstall select TIRE_SMOKE_UNINSTALL.nfsms ]
→ Select install
→And press CTRL+S to save (exit after saving)


4. **ROAD OPTIONS:**
- I have included 2 types of roads: DARK & LIGHT, both with 2K / 4K / 8K, for a total of 6 options.
- Currently, RETEX is running with 4K LIGHT ROADS for performance-friendly experience.
- Download and Extract your road choice to play with.
→ Open rar file of any roads from given 6 options
→ Drag and drop textures folder into NEXTGENGRAPHICS/TEXTUREPACKS/RETEX/
→ Select replace all when prompted and all your roads are changed to either LIGHT or DARK

5. **IMPORTANT NOTE:**
- Your game must be 4GB Patched.
- You might see some textures not loaded at the very start of freeroam or any race; don't worry, it will take time to load everything [60 secs more/less depending on your system specs].
- ReTex also works with Plak Graphics mod; only for Ultimate Edition Users, I have included Emitter settings for ReTex, which you can install.
- For Plak Graphics Ultimate Edition users: If you already have your own emitter settings, make a backup of the Plakgraphics folder located in the game directory.
- Download and open the rar file, drag and drop Plak graphics folder into the game directory.
- For future Retex updates, if prompted, replace any existing files with the modded ones. This will overwrite the textures with the improved ones.


6. **Launch the Game:**
- Start Need for Speed Most Wanted, and enjoy the enhanced visuals.
- In game settings, TURN OFF overbright and change Visual Treatment to LOW
- If you happen to have blackscreen or crashes it is not due to this mod, maybe you have too much cars installed which is 1 of the causes of random game crash
- This mod requires dxvk d3d9.dll file to run, so dont miss while installing
- You can use Xbox 360 Stuff Pack [v3.2 Beta] by Elaymm4 - https://nfsmods.xyz/mod/1200 , but only use shaders and simply drag and drop into your game and replace files
- I only use these 12 shaders from Xbox 360 Stuff Pack v3.2 Beta into my game built

8. **Credits and Distribution permission**
- Other user's assets → All the assets in this file belong to the author, or are from free-to-use modder's resources.
- Upload permission → You are not allowed to upload this file to other sites.
- Modification permission → You are allowed to modify my files by just replacing it make sure it have similar texture names, do not change folder structure or you will need to make changes inside textures.json.
- Asset use/Conversion permission → You can convert this file to work with your mod pack or other games as long as you credit me as the creator of the file and mention download link of this mod.
- Asset use permission in mods/files that are being sold → You are not allowed to use assets from this file in any mods/files that are being sold on other platforms.
