Just installing this is so eye-clawingly frustrating. target box not valid. target box not valid.
Can someone please just post their target line?
The aggravation this thing causes is immeasurable. I read the previous posts. But nothing gives the exact location of the double quotes. I got it to work it once, but it didn't launch, and every other time it was valid, it just worked a shortcut to some directory.
Nevermind, after hours of uslessness, here is the command line. You'd think someone would post this by now.
1.download. 2.extract. 3.put the shortcut where ever you like. 4.change the properties of the shortcut. command line "(where javaw.exe is located)" -Xmx1024m -DFallout.plugin.path="(your Fallout new vegas data folder)" -jar FNVPlugin.jar e.g. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe" -Xmx1024m -DFallout.plugin.path="E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas\Data" -jar FNVPlugin.jar
start in line "C:\Users\Anon\Desktop\(folder where FNVPlugin.jar is located)"
I tried to do this, but this mod doesn't come with a file called "javaw.exe." I downloaded Version 1.7 and I looked through everything in it, but there is no mention of the executable. Any help?
Install version 6 update 31 in order to use this program http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javasebusiness/downloads/java-archive-downloads-javase6-419409.html Then go into your browser(s) add-ons and disable the java plugin(s) (don't disable javascript).
Could someone tell me how I can run this program in administrator mode? I need it to be in this mode so that i can save it as my steam is located in program files. Whenever I try to put it into admin mode it just says that it is unable to open the jar. If there is no solution to this then how can I save it to a different location then manually drag it into the data folder?
Thank you Anon_Xer0. The process was a pain-in-the-ass.
Some people, like the creator of this software, assume that everyone has the same knowledge/intelligence as them thus putting many others in the dark. A good teacher does not confuse others -- but also, "those who cannot do, teach." This guy wouldn't have created this unless he was a decent programmer. Truly amazing that people can be so smart, yet so stupid when it comes to explaining it to others.
Another banger of a utility from Scripter Ron, I hope you try your hand at Oblivion and Skyrim someday. This is quick, no frill, efficient, no lag on the lowest end laptops, and has never failed me. You are my rock.
Edit: Checked the credits, and of course you were involved with TES4Gecko. Thank you for your work
Oh my Jebus this was/is the most effort I have ever had to do to get a mod working but I finally figured it out!
Installation: 1.Install/Update Java (This should be pretty easy since most computers already need Java installed for stuff like YouTube and whatnot) 2. Download either of the Files 1.6 or 1.7 (I don't think it matters I'm using 1.7 in this example) 3. Make a Folder to hold the mod/utility (I called mine FNVPlugin) 4. Use Winrar or 7zip to unzip the package, then extract or drag everything into the folder you just made (Just search Google for these if you don't have them) 5. DO NOT USE THE SHORTCUT PROVIDED! (It does not seem to work and may not work if you've installed Java somewhere else) 6. Right Click FNVPlugin.jar and go down to Create Shortcut (Above Delete and Below Copy for me) 7. Open the Start menu and search for javaw but then click see more results. 8. You'll get a new menu to pop up. Press Computer in the Search Again in: , bar under your results. (This will take a little bit because it is searching all indexed, non-indexed, hidden, etc. files on your computer and maybe you other connected hardrives but idk too much about that) 9. Hopefully you should have found it wherever you installed/updated java if not then try to look where you installed/updated java yourself or try something else (I really can't help that much here cause idk how Java installs everything or how all the computer systems work. Mine was located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin) 10. Now go back to the Shortcut we made in Step 6. Right click it and go to properties. 11. This is the part lost in translation that I finally figured out. You will start on the Shortcut tab go to the next one on the left General. 12. See the Opens With: click the Change button beside it. It will open a new window. 13. Press the Browse button and go back to where you javaw.exe was located and click javaw.exe and press open and the window will close now press OK. 14. Enjoy merging mods. This worked for me I'm using a Windows 7 64 bit version. Please tell me if you guys want/need a video tutorial or screenshot tutorial. I'd be happy to help.
would really appreciate a video man and I think I speak for a lot of other people when I say that it would be very much appreciated. gopher is not only loved for his mods but his videos an how to install easy/complicated mods. something like this for this mod would make mod happy modders just get to go that extra bit further
edit. nm it was very easy for me to get this mod to work ive just now got to figure out how to use it lol so many mods that I want to merge omg
Just tried this method. Everything works until i go to choose the javaw.exe and hit open it will not let me change the opening program from java se or the recommended java.
Sorry for the long wait everyone but I finally made a video tutorial that should hopefully clear things up, also sorry that it looks so crappy. http://youtu.be/k_eObi3EbxU
Thanks for the info. I just updated to java version 8 - 40. When I clicled on the FNVplugin.jar file, it automatically used the new java to open. Now to start merging esps. Hopefully I can get what I want done.
i just tried to double-click the .jar and it worked ...
Check for errors with FNVEdit afterwards, with the ones i merged, most of them could be corrected there (giving the errors the correct reference again. For me it was mostly some of the first digits of the references of the mod that was merged that were wrong)
great tutorial! i think im having a different issue- when I try to open an esm i get an error that says Plugin version 0.85 is not supported any ideas how to fix?
Try the Merge Plugins tool v. 1.9 instead with FNVEdit: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37981/? Yes, it is originally a Skyrim script - but - follow the instructions.
Is there anything like this for skyrim (or will this work for skyrim) .. I really enjoyed this plugin in FNV and the ability to work in a separate folder (always have a backup of plugin), and to copy assets needed manually. I don't like the Tes5edit script way of doing this as it will merge the plugins but does not copy the assets, unpack bsa's, or do the rest of the stuff that is needed, so if i have to do all that I need to work in a separate folder (especially if i have to unpack multiple bsa's to pack them into one). I looked at another plugin merge program and it had to be in game folder ... I don't want that either.
@Adarcer, are you sure. I have copied assets all the way when using TES5Edit. You have to tick the button asking whether you want to create a save or not?

?2.) "Shortcut" tab
?3.) Advanced
?4.) Tick box
This man slaved away for the community to code something simple and reliable. There are plenty of people who still want to use this utility.

Must say that ScripterRon really knows how to make a decent description.
