Yep, the cylinder moves forward and seals around the forcing cone. This gives the measly 7.62x38R about 100fps more velocity and makes it capable of taking a silencer! Fidller, The NKVD/KGB wouldn't call it dumb... nor would any of the political dissidents that they shot with these.
I know they make shotgun silencers.......thats just dumb because the pellet spread decreases with a silencer and a revolver with silencer looks ridiculous.......just hink of a cowboy with a silenced revolver......
"just hink of a cowboy with a silenced revolver" You seriously think cattle ranchers wouldn't benefit from being able to use a suppressed weapon? If you actually know about or have at least seen horses and cows outside of your TV and coloring books, you'll know they spook easy if and when you have to discharge your firearm to get rid of snakes and coyotes. Seeing a cowpoke set in the 19th century with a suppressed weapon would seem silly being anachronistic, but this is FALLOUT, IT'S SET IN THE FUTURE! THERE ARE GODDAMN COWBOYS WITH LASER GUNS ALL OVER THE PLACE IF YOU HADN'T NOTICED!
This isn't a cowboy gun. This is a Russian gun. It has been used in many high profile executions over the years. Carried by commissars and assassins alike. I own two. One is stock, the other has been threaded and stamped for a suppressor. It is very quiet when fired with a 9mm suppressor. Look up videos on youtube or something.
OP thinks a suppressed revolver is ridiculous in a game where big green men can slap your head off your neck, robots being powered by human brains and a 12.7mm smg that doesn't seem to have enough space for a bullet feed mechanism exists
I realize I'm replying to a comment that was posted 11 years ago, but although the M1895 Nagant was adopted by Russia it is technically a Belgian design given that Leon Nagant was a Belgian firearms designer :)
Also, as for the reason why some call the M1891 Mosin and variants the 'Mosin Nagant' is because Sergei Mosin's rifle design was the most desirable of those submitted however the magazine of Leon Nagant's rifle was regarded as superior. So they actually utilized Nagant's mag design on Mosin's rifle design, leading many to call the platform the 'Mosin Nagant.' Though I heard years ago that Russians just call it Mosin so that's what I tend to call it. Still, Mosin Nagant is still perfectly understandable.
Back to the revolver, I have heard claims that the revolver in this mod does not look like an actual M1895, and that is quite true. You cannot see the loading gate on the right-hand side of the action behind the cylinder, the barrel seems big enough for a .40 or .50 cal when in real life the M1895 was chambered in 7.62x38r which is very much .30 cal, and I hear that the reload animation for the .357 Magnum revolver in the game wasn't used? That seems very foolish, for both that revolver and the M1895 are fixed-cylinder designs that reload from a swing-open gate.
I'll also lend kudos to mentions in the comment section that the M1895 can be silenced/suppressed. Maybe that wasn't very common knowledge 5-10 years ago but I think firearm aficionados of today are more generally aware that there's AT LEAST one oddball revolver design (with the requisite oddball 7.62x38r ammo with its casing stretching beyond the projectile) that can very effectively have a silencer/suppressor mounted to it. And yes I regard 'silencer' to be a perfectly acceptable word. It is colloquially understood and it is what the design was first sold as; a Maxim Silencer. It makes the firearm more silent than otherwise. Does a compensator totally compensate for recoil to the point that there is none whatsoever? No, it does not, and so I have no time for such foolishness. Call it a silencer, call it a suppressor, it's po-tay-to/po-tah-to. Everyone knows what everyone means.
Do they ONLY use the word 'suppressor' in the Military? I don't know, maybe. If so, then if you're in the Military then I advise you to stick to what you're trained to do. If you're not in the Military, then call it a silencer if you like. Everyone will understand what you mean, and I do not regard it to be a magazine/clip scenario in which calling a magazine a clip is quite simply factually incorrect. There is a difference between a clip (stripper/charger/en-bloc) and a magazine (box/tube/drum/quad-stack, etc.)
Anyhow, this was a fun comment to write even if it's a reply to a bloody ancient message which was penned by someone who may never see this reply lol Discussing firearms/ammunition is fun!
Maybe I'm just stupid or there's something with the mod because I can't find the revolver anywhere... I looked at the description but still nothing, can somebody help me?
No idea if you still check the comments on these but I have some constructive criticism: why not use the .357 Revolver as a base instead of the .44 Magnum? The real Nagant revolver was a loading-gate style and is generally fired in single-action due to its *outstandingly* bad trigger pull (something close to 20 lbs). It's also a fairly under-powered weapon IRL with pretty manageable recoil, all things considered.
Nagant 1895???? LOL ... never, never it is a Nagant 1895. I have not enough fantasy to see here an Nagant 1895. Maybee i need some LSD to see here a Nagant. SpamPTRS ... your mods must´nt see. No one is similiar to that what it should be.
I don't know if you still check in on these, but I wanted to thank you for this. This was the first pistol I ever bought, and I treasure my little beauty. It shoots like a dream, has an incredibly unique and cool firing mechanism, and is damn accurate. My only complaint in the real world is ammo is terribly expensive when available.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy the mod. The Nagant is a very interesting firearm for sure and, despite all of its quirks, it's a neat little piece of firearms history. I don't think I'd want to put up with that lengthy reload during a firefight though .
Nice mod. The build and texture may not be perfect, but you did the best you could with what the game could give. Thanks for putting in the work for it.
Love all your weapons Endorsed! keep up the good work buddy and may I suggest a Lee Enfield Jungle Carbine No. 5 MK I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVO1Gp6BtJE . I love it lol.

This SUPPRESSED Shotgun works quite well, and still has a spread.
Who cared whether it's a revolver or a handgun? It's not a stupid idea, it's completely logical and with the Nagant, it's completely possible.
Both are REAL.
