Thank you for making this! The BOS armor was always kinda soulless. I have combined this mod with Upgraded EDE with plate and sticker by changing both upgraded models to "eyebot_edb.nif" in xedit. ED-E has never been better!
I've recently started re-playing this wonderful blast of a game and found this gem in the maze of mod folders that I keep, I remember being quite fond of this one as I had apparently tweaked it to my liking, I only do that to mods that I really love BTW! XD
I think this has to be the best ED-E tweaker mod out there as it fixes many of the problems that affect our bundle of death dealing joy, also know as ED-E! The main one being that ungodly ear ravaging sound glitch when ED-E gets the upgrades from the Followers. But there is also the many other improvements added that I quite love.
If there was one thing I perhaps did not like was the adjustment you made to not change ED-Es appearance regardless of upgrades made! Personally I quite like both upgraded appearances (especially the BOS one). So that was the first thing I tweaked for myself.
However, I had noticed some weird behavior while this mod was active! ED-E seemed to get stuck a lot more than usual, and by that I mean literally stuck on nothing sometimes on flat surfaces even! I had first thought this was an AI issue brought forth by one of the companion management mods that I was using (JIP). But then I noticed that ED-E seems to stop in specific instances.
The first one is when other companions usually enter their "Search Mode" and I guess ED-E probably attempts to do the same and just gets stuck instead.
The second one is when opponents get real close to the bot, he just stands there barely even attacking completely unable to move even after the fight, until the player is far enough away and I'm guessing the teleport function sets in resetting the AI.
Than it hit me, sometimes you'll notice that companions pull out their respective melee weapons when they enter this "Search Mode", regardless If they are in melee or ranged combat mode! After seeing this, I decide to open up xEdit to have another look around! And I notice that you put some sort of "Shock Baton" function in all three versions! You apparently state that this is some sort of cut content in the description that you decided to re-add.
So I decide to remove it, just to test things out at first! And lo and behold no more getting stuck for our favorite ball bot....at least so far! And yes I've tested this quite a bit. Both with ED-E alone and up to six companions together, it just seems to work.
Not sure why ED-E switching to melee breaks his AI, I am novice after all! But there it is, I would advise others test this out as well If they encounter the same problems.
I downloaded this mod before I started the ED-E my love quest and for some reason it prevents ED-E from triggering the audio playbacks when I talk to people such as Gibson, the quest still updates but I never get them?
I did excatly what Roy said, just changed the two model values under NIFZ - Model List (sorted) from his eyebot_eda.nif to the former eyebot_edb(and c).nif with FNV Edit. As usual youre a lifesaver Roy
I've noticed after upgrading ED-E's weapon by bringing him to the Followers of the Apocalypse his laser attack should now be blue right(?) but from time to time ED-E always changes from Blue to Red.. i see it happening every time he gets hit by ghouls he shoots blue laser from afar and after being hit he stops attacking for a sec and then changes to Red laser and then Blue again over and over on every single encounter.. . **the sound is even different, the Red laser has a loud sound to it and the blue laser is very subtle which i personally prefer.. i wonder if this mod fixes this? or is this a default feature? **And is this mod safe to add on an existing save whereas i've already brought ED-E to the Followers and i've also finished Lonesome Road and got all 5upgrades.. is it safe to add this on my current playthrough? i also have YUP and Unofficial Patch Plus..
Thanks for the quick response, it's greatly appreciated. So if I understood correctly, it needs an update patch to be compatible with the TTW 3.2.1; however, the potential conflicts with TTW 3.2.1 are either very minor or already dealt with?
Ive tried two other mods to give both functional upgrades and couldnt get either of them to work (as far as I can tell). 1 suggests it adds the armour look and the blue bolts but in the forum thread the author says he couldnt get blue bolts but the upgrade is still functional. I dont know how to test its dps to see if it has increased. That mod also says it buffs his stats including carry weight but that does not seem evident.
Both the other mods claim they should work if you add the mod after completing the quest. Not sure if this one works the same way ?

Should this mod add both funtional and visual upgrades to ed-e and can it be used after quest completion ?
I'd have to combine the meshes and textures to combine the looks, which is beyond my skill set. I can assure you that it does add both effects to ED-E though. I'll look into the projectile though, that should be easy to fix.
