Very often when you hit an enemy with a spear, they just stand still and stop fighting. Pretty broken. Cannot use this. Easier to just use console to add spears back into inv lol...
Hi, I like the idea behind this mod and would prefer to use this than the alternatives, to avoid my enemies throwing my spears back at me. However, I cannot seem to get the mod working.
When I throw a spear it gets stuck in the wall as intended, but for some reason a huge invisible wall is then created around the spear, much larger than its model. I can still retrieve the spear, but it disappears entirely rather than returning to my inventory.
One thing, I have my own .esp which makes an edit to the damage values of the throwing spear, and also adds some crafting recipes for throwing spears. Might it be an incompatibility issue? The changes I have made in my .esp are extremely light so I would be surprised, however I am relatively inexperienced with modding so I cannot say for sure.

so essentially I throw a spear and can loot two out of the inventory, I'm not sure what causes it or how to fix it, has anyone else had duplicated throwing weapons?
I could simply just loot the actual amount but at multiple hits it could be hard to keep track of the exact number (well I could remember what I had before but then there is the possibility of misses etc.)
It happens to me too. Apparently, only with Throwing Spears and when the head of the enemy gets pinned to some surface. This also affects the Throwing Knife Spear as well.
would it be possible to get an optional file where the spears don't get too broken (stuck) when they hit anything other then an npc/dead body and not just roll around on the floor with the ability to get easily lost or fly away from explosions? and if so you could have it to where you need a whetstone or something to fix it, i only ask because i love throwing weapons in games, and new vegas falls very short with getting them back
As far as I know, you can either have weapons able to get stuck in NPCs, or you can have them bounce off of everything. There's no middle ground where weapons can still get stuck in NPCs, but will not become unusable on hitting a non-viable target. It's a shame, but I'm not sure whether it's something hardcoded into the engine or something that could be fudged with scripting.
Either way, I have to be honest: Making such a big change would be way, way outside the scope of my ability. I'm nowhere near that good at scripting.
I don't use YUP myself, but from what you've told me, I'd advise either making a quick patch by hand to merge YUP's changes and this mod's changes or simply loading TAR after YUP in your load order :)
It'll be cool if you can actually see thrown weapons being lodged into an NPC. When I hit an NPC with the thrown weapon it doesn't stay there and disappears, but when I hit any other surface you can see it's actually lodged on into that surface which kinda bothered me. In Skyrim you can see arrows being lodged into NPCs ,why can't it be the same for new vegas?
It works... But when enemies get hit with a throwing weapon their AI Just cancels and they stand there until i hit them again, It doesn't happen with vanilla i tested it, it happens with other throwing mods too it's kind of odd
Love the idea, i'm just personally having issues with it :(

The only conflict I found was with YUP (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/51664) where it re-adds the flag "Player Only" after YUP removed it.
Is anyone else having this issue?
There's gotta be a way to increase the duration of them just like some mods have done with decals and bullet casings
