Hello! Well, first of all, like some fella already mentioned, it looks like the weapon doesn't get the damage bonus from Cowboy perk, which is very sad. Well secondly, I'd advise adjusting the weapon's damage so that with Guns Skill 100 and a Cowboy perk the Big Iron will have 100+ damage, where as of now it's got only 60 damage while I've got 100 guns and a Cowboy perk, which is around 20 Dmg less than a Hunting revolver and Sequoia! This revolver is supposed to be one-of-a-kind, a special thing, so having it's damage above 100, around 110-120 with all the skills and perks maxed is fair, I'm not sure about leaving it in the starting location but why not anyways, it would be a nice starting pack. Oh, and when you discover the gun in Goodsprings, obtaining it is considered a larceny, don't know if it's a bug or an intended mechanics. Thank you!
I read Big Iron gun is "Colt Army Model 1860" was kind of copy "Colt Single Action Army"... maybe some changes like white.... holster.. would be nice...
Thank you very much for amazing review! :-) I really like style of your videos. They are quick, but also full of useful informations about mod (location, stats, shooting, overall look of the gun etc.) You're welcome. :-)
Probably yes. This mod doesn't replace original .357 Revolver, it adds new weapon that just have texture of .357 Revolver. For example, I am using mod that replaces vanilla .357 Revolver texture by texture of an old black powder Colt revolver, but my Big Iron looks same as original .357 Revolver. I think, it should be compatible with other mods. :-)
I'm getting a flickering texture on the gun. I have re-done archive invalidation and made sure the texture and model folders are in the right place. Is there a weapon texture pack I'm missing, or are there weapons mods that might make this not work?
Sorry, but it didnt work. I have no idea what it is, but I'd like to know if anyone else is having this issue to see if it is the mod or just me that has the issue
Yeah the texture was getting all mixed up and vanishing, but this version has fixed it. The gun looks rlly cool and i am gonna record a review of it in the morning.
I think it is odd though how other downloaders of this mod havent said anything about the texture glitch, unless it was just me. Hmm. o well
Thanks Btw, i recorded this before you released the final version. I hope there wasn't too much of a difference between them, but I will make sure to note on the youtube description that it has since been updated
Thanks for making this. It has been a slow week for me and this will be the first video of the week i do and with this being Friday too lolz
Thank you very much for amazing review! You was talking about that I credited someone that didn't make the mesh for the mod. Yes that's true, it was my mistake. The model wasn't made by PhaseRanger, but by RifleMann.
This is definitely a great idea for a weapon mod since there is a song in the game about it. A great first mod that I think you should come back to in the future and maybe instead of it just being a .357 revolver with different stats, you could model a completely different looking and unique gun with a polished texture.
Thank you very much! This was my first mod, and I wanted to test if it is even functional. I will maybe add some textures in the future, but I will probably start working on quest mod (I have some ideas about new story, that I would like to add to the game). I am just learning how to use GECK, so I will probably need some help from other, more experienced modders...
Maybe you should look on official GECK page. There is tutorial how to make your "own Vault". http://geck.bethsoft.com/index.php?title=Category:Getting_Started It helped me to learn how to use some features of GECK, such as how to duplicate objects, how to add them to in-game location etc. I would like to make some kind of mod like this (story of Vault, little town with some quest etc...) but I don't have much time. Maybe I will start working on some mod during the holiday, but as I mentioned before, I will need help of other modders.
I like your idea; and the weapon is not OP, which is good. However, if a may offer a few suggestions, I think you should consider using the long barrel .357 model for the gun, for a truly big "Big Iron." Also, the texture for "Lucky" might be a good base for you to start creating a custom texture for this gun (prehaps just replace the name and do a little recolouring?).
Overall, though, good work. I look forward to seeing some of your future mods.
Thank you very much! I used short barrel .357 revolver, because Big Iron that i found on Google images looked very similiar to short barreled .357 http://www.cimarron-firearms.com/big-iron-357-38-sp-4-3-4-in.html Wikipedia says: ,,The Ranger's "Big Iron" actually existed. It was a one-off custom handgun chambered in .45 Colt and featured a Great Western copy of the Colt Single Action Army frame, Colt 1860 Army backstrap, grip frame and grips and a cut down 9 1/2" Marlin rifle barrel. Marty Robbins saw it in Andy Anderson's famed North Hollywood gun shop in the late 1950s and wrote the song around it. Its current whereabouts are unknown." I wanted to add some texture in program called NifSkope, to make it look like the gun from the image (wooden grip, black barrel and that yellow thing around the trigger), but I am just learning how to use it. I will maybe add them in the future (or maybe this week, who knows? ) Again, thank you for your ideas.
