    Could you possibly make a version where the beaton is just a beefed up version of the regular cannon?
    IE; Not a continous beam weapon?

    I really like the idea of having these arc-chain like mentioned but I don't like the idea of the beaton being so different, also as aTOTNW user I'm a little worried about the posts concerning the messed up 3rd person animations when used with TOTNW. Do the Cannons still have the ability to 1 shot vertibirds? As a TTW user that also pretty essential.

      I also dislike the way the whole continuous firing is executed here! It looks so off, like awkward...like the gun's very design and philosophy was NOT done with continuous firing in mind, the whole shoulder mounted thing is counter-intuitive for that, doesn't suit this sort of firing animation and the beam itself looks awkward as it becomes thinner the farther it travels (while it should be exact opposite as dictated by mere logic of the very nature of the projectile itself), it just looks plain wrong...If it was arc lightning based attack, with wide spread arcs choatically changing directions and stuff like Arc Welder it would work better, but for a weapon of this sort it just doesn't stick the landing. Just a beefed up regular attack (one way or another) would be better option. Meanwhile i'll just be using regular version of Tesla Cannon as it functions the best and is the most effective between three variants with this installed...As a whole Tesla Cannon "sells" the idea of some sort of Energy Weapon that shoots explosive energy projectile the most, like Missile Launcher but Energy Version of it, ending up in electric explosion rather than regular one. That's how i always envisioned it before i used the weapon for the first time in F3, it has that intuitive thing about it, where you perceive it as "energy" version of the Missile Launcher...

    is there a conditional I could add to the weapon, projectile or chaining effect to make it so that the chain only starts if the initial hit impacts an enemy?

    Maybe there's already a mod that does this, but have you considered doing the same thing you did with the continuous beam to the Laser RCW as well? I believe Josh Sawyer mentioned that weapon in specific was always meant to work like that but they couldn't get over the engine limitations so things ended up settling how it is now (as in, a Laser SMG of sorts).

    If you managed to do it, it would be, I kid you not, revolutionary.

      Thing is, it's not really a "continuous beam", just a regular beam that fires fast enough and remains on screen long enough that it looks like such.
      There is actually a "continuous beam" definition for projectiles in the GECK, but until lStewie's Tweaks patched it it caused CTD just trying to use it. And even then, I don't think it can be made to work correctly.
      My theory is that it should make the weapon deal damage similar to an automatic melee weapon like the Ripper, by hitting the target on each frame and having the weapon's DAM divided by the framerate or such, possibly having the ammo consumption follow suit somehow such that the ammo use count would be the ammo consumed per second.
      But I have no means to make something like that. If you want a look at something related to the RCW there's this mod implementing a "PDW" as a unique variant of it.

      Checking out the mod you linked - it seems like the almost nailed it, but the need for reload sort of defeat the purpose. Still, this sounds like it's way more difficult to implement than I thought. Thank you for the through answer.

    Worth noting that the Beaton changes lead to some weirdness when used with Titans of the New West's animations, likely due to weapons being flipped upside down, and even though this weirdness is probably present on other hypothetical shoulder mounted weapons with concentrated beams, it probably won't be fixed on Wombat's end.

    TL;DR: If you use this with Titans of the New West, disable the third person shoulder mounted weapon animations.

    Sometimes, when I shoot enemies with the chaining cannons, they will turn naked and about half the time lose their weapon. Any idea why?
