Fully functional after some hours of headache due to insufficient instructions about installation and requirements.
playing vanilla (except for bug fixing mods and patches, like YUP and NVTF and NVAC) - those bug fixing mods and patches eventually made me install NVSE (Script Extender);
i realized my NVSE was version 5 (downloaded externally), while Nexus Mods' version was 6.3.5;
Of course you only need to test one setting (Dehydration, Starvation or SleepDeprivation) to verify if this mod worked, as if one parameter was passed the others (almost) certainly were too. To test the thresholds and rates, make time pass faster (and get rid of your trustworthy Vault 13 Canteen, if you didn't already):
sgtm 100
Don't go much above 100 as your character might become too fast and die randomly whenever you walk depending on your surroundings. At last, check your status evolution (or decay) by reverting time speed (sgtm 1) and looking up your Pip-Boy or retrieving the values directly on the console:
player.getav Dehydration player.getav Hunger player.getav SleepDeprevation (yes, there is a typo)
Hope this helped! 😊
At last, mod endorsed. Thanks for making my Survival skill less useless. Now I finally have a reason to utilise my beautiful dozens of Caravan Lunches.
So, if I understand this correctly, this mod would allow me to change when hardcore needs harm you? Example, if I wanted hunger to kill me at level 300, this mod does it?
i would love a version that allows you to change the lethal effects to, or to edit each threshold separately but i did come up with a configuration that works for me (i play with 1x timescale) I wanted the effects to hit you much earlier than vanilla but long before killing, cuz being hungry thirsty or tired sure sucks and would definitely hinder combat; its not often that one misses a meal and dies on their way home from work. with these rates you'll be fine for a time then get hit with a debuff if you miss a meal. then if you ignore that debuff for an appropriate amount of time then you'll die. a consequence is that sleep kills you in less than 2 days but id rather that be much longer but with more intense effects like vision blurring and passing out. but yeah i just head cannon it as passing out and in the mojave taking a nap unprotected probably should be a death sentence
; For hardcore rates, lower numbers mean they increase faster. Defaults: Thirst 10, Hunger 25, Sleep 50. Sleep recovers 58 pts/hr slept [Settings] iDehydrationRate=257 iStarvationRate=2570 iExhaustionRate=166 iLevelOneThreshold=350 iLevelTwoThreshold=464 iLevelThreeThreshold=580 iLevelFourThreshold=696

Thanks, I am going to try this with Tale of Two Wasteland in 3.2.2 iDehydrationRate=5 iStarvationRate=10 iExhaustionRate=20 This should make for a realistic-ish run, even if it's a bit hard in the beginning due to lack of resources. And it's not so hard that you feel too bloody real. Basically, you will feel driven to drink any water source with rad under 5 (which should count for pure and clean water) and not have to drink toilet, polluted river, mud hole. And you will often munch on ant bits, radroach bits as snack --------- Note: Food and H2O is fine as 5 and 10, forcing us to eat and drink more often. I now drink on any water source with rad 5 or lower whenever I can. Sleep probabbly can stand to reduce to 15 or 10. Sure, it going to force us to drop much faster than water, but there's a ton of Nuka cola just sitting there. Drink that and sleep reduce a bit. 4 hour sleep is going to be normal. If you want 8 hour sleep as realistic need, its going to be 10. -------------- Exhaustion at 5 would make you tired before even Well Rested buff run out~ Dehydrate at 5 make you drink quite more often. OTOH, purified water are plentiful enough both in loots and in shops. Plus, if you take RadX beforehand, even faucet water would look like rad 1-2, which is safe enough.
Question though, I changed the threshold values in the ini, placed the ESP at the bottom of my MO2 list (override Vicious Wastes, and PN) and it doesn't appear to be taking affect. First activation is still at 200 even when I set it to for 450. Any ideas?
No dice sadly. I tried turning off Project Nevada and Vicious Wastes just to see if either version were in conflict with them, but still didn't seem work as I tried lowering the first threshold to 100 and it was still activating at 200. I have been testing on a game already in progress however, so I'm going to try on a new file later today where I haven't turned on hardcore mode.
This is long but reliable way to figure out what's wrong on your end:
1) Save your current load order as a .txt file using your mod manager so you can easily restore it in the end.
2) Disable ALL unessential plugins leaving only basic stuff active (game itself and all DLC for example)
3) Reinstall and reanable this mod. Try if it works now.
3a) If this mod works after disabling unessential plugins: Try enabling your plugins back on and launching the game, try 20 at a time until mod stops working once again, so you can narrow your search to certain group of plugins and finally you'll be able to find out what plugin was incompatible with this mod.
3b) If this mod still doesn't work after disabling unessential plugins: It means you missed some requirement or did something wrong. Try installing the latest JIP LN NVSE Plugin for instance.
Since MO2 has different profiles I just did a quick check on a vanilla profile with nothing but the base game, UI, MCM, and alternative start turned on with the control needs mod. I made a new file, turned on hardcore for the first time with the control needs mod already turned on. (tried both the first and test version, with the newest JIP as well of course and NVSE). After testing this I can safely say the speed at which they accrue seems to be working. Lower numbers worked faster and higher numbers worked slower. The threshold still does not appear to be working however, no matter what value I set the first threshold activates at 200 every time.
Same results unfortunately and I'm still not sure why.

would it be possible for u to add an ini to configure the values of vanilla sprint? mainly the thirst feature/ap feature, IF it isnt to much trouble. thanks for this mod man
This is easy to edit using FNVEdit, just load the plugin and look at the scripts, one of them controls the amount AP and H20 rates depending on the armor class you’re wearing. Lowering those numbers will help
