Is this different to the one on Moddb? I'm not accusing you of anything! I'm just asking if you're porting it over to the Nexus. I enjoy the Moddb one, but it feels more like a William Shatner companion playing Kirk, as he often breaks the fourth wall and says lines from Shatners other roles. He even breaks into song about someone called SlimShady or other. Anyway, I'm mostly just asking if this is a bit more serious than the other one. I love the idea of Captain Kirk following me more than William Shatner...
and it is more serious, tried to make him have kirk's personality (hope i achieved that pretty well) and it contains no lines from other roles form william shatner. and for all i know, slimshady has nothing to do with william shatner (might be wrong tho) idk. so yeah :)
Felt like I needed to say the Shatner singing SlimShady is from Futurama. Shatner voiced himself in an episode and did a rendition of SlimShady during that
It's a mod, Jim, but not as we know it... Great idea! But your current lore needs a tweak because in Star Trek an atomic war happened too.
And they both occur in the mid-late 21st century - 2070s in Fallout, and 2050s in Trek (in TNG and after). In the original (Kirk's) series WW3 was said to be the 1990s, though one could just argue that a WW3 of sorts occurred in the 1990s in Fallout too but left the US (relatively) unscathed - it just wrecked Russia and the Mid East and damaged the US economy enough to accelerate China's rise and subsequent attempt at World domination, leading to Fallout's Great War of the 2070s (or Trek's war of the 2050s). The recovery in both timelines sort-of begin the exact same year - in Fallout the Free States give the all-clear signal in 2079, and in TNG (Encounter at Far Point) Earth's recovery is said to have begun in 2079 too!
Thus the only big difference is that in Star Trek the recovery is a lot quicker - Why? because Cochrane's launch attracts First Contact in the 2060s. So if Kirk arrives in FNV, he might wonder what happened to First Contact? Indeed, maybe this is why Kirk has beamed down to find out. Well, my suggestion would be perhaps Mr House interfered, stifling Cochrane's earlier research because the autocratic Mr House wants the dream of colonising the stars to be lead (and controlled) all via himself. Maybe he had Cochrane killed and stole his research, or trapped him in a pod and used his mind as the real scientific intelligence behind some of Mr House's supposed brilliant inventions...

Just thinking out loud.
