Thanks for all the community feedback and playtesting done for this mod - 16/02/2024 Released Pruned version of the mod until I potentially redo many of the larger assets to conform to what appears to be engine limitations.
Just a question, also I may just be dumb. Is this like an all in one of your other foliage mods or do I need to download those as well? love your animations and trying to use as many as I can without fps loss. :)
Hello captain :D .This covers most of the assets my first mods did, the older mods do have some plants that this doesn't have, but they are pretty unimportant.
This mod here, will very likley impact your perfoamnce with the original mod - best to follow what I said on the main mod page about "performance" . so what you probably want to do is download "Pruned", and then go and download "Animated foliage for fallout new vegas" and let "pruned win any overwrites" . then you should be good!
If you're feeling generous, I vote for a patch to New Vegas Palm Trees Enhanced! The quality from vanilla is night and day, but I just hate giving up your anims :') Excellent mod, thank you
Yes! This^ I love the look of the enhanced palm trees in that mod. Vanilla palm trees have a boring trunk design in my opinion. We need versions of the enhanced trees that sway in the breeze.
you know reading this now, I dont think the engine could handle this . if a mod added superior ambient occlusion to the strip and jacobs town this mod might work fantastically. but I dont know of any, so if u know any.
Long time no see, Ashens! :D Yep, I am still around and I have been starting over from scratch in the past several days. I am currently making another mod list and I even put a seperator category in my MO2 and I named it "Ashens' Animations". It's very fitting of course. ;)
I see you released another banger here. Awesome job. Can't wait to see what you come up with next!
Hehe, wonderful idea Eggman had with calling it BNB. LOL
Hey ricky, very long time :). I think my root folder for my custom mods is called "Ashens Animations" so its most fitting! yeah that was a pretty funny name lol, glad to have stuck with it for so long XD.
This mod is absolutely fantastic, but it *can* have a performance impact, at least in heavily forested areas. I haven't done extensive testing but did notice a heavy FPS drop in Jacobstown specifically (80-90 FPS down to 30-40). Anyone else noticed something similar? I'm using this overwriting Wasteland Flora Overhaul, so perhaps that's the reason?
Hi! I am very glad to you like the mod, thank you very much :D . I play with an FPS limiter so with and without the mod my FPS stayed consistent but I suppose you might play with high fps making it more obvious . this is very handy news for anyone who plays with high fps . I dont believe overwriting a mod would cause FPS drops like this, so the cause is likely this mod . but of course like you say more controlled testing would be required . if you wanted to do that by unistalling and instilling the mod and recording your FPS then that would be very cool and I would credit as a Playtester if that would be nice. but if not thank you !
I just meant that I'm using this on top of WFO, and so it's possible that that mod places more trees in Jacobstown and so that is what pushes the FPS loss when combined with this mod.
It seems like I'm getting some FPS losses in the strip with this active too, however.
Wasteland Flora Overhaul+graphics mods+quality LOD+hundreds of other mods, went to Jacobstown + Strip + everywhere else and didn't notice any FPS drop.
Very strange. Did you regenerate LOD? I didn't, and I suppose that is the only thing I can think of. I'm not even using particularly high-res textures.
Wanted to say I'm having the same problem, using NMC Medium, Flora Overhaul (replacer only), NVTF, Vulkan, and I get very high framedrops in various areas with this enabled. I know it's the culprit, or at least part of it, because disabling only this foliage pack fixes it. I also have Enhanced Landscapes which adds a decent amount of plants, so that could be part of it.
The performance issues are likely caused solely by the Red cedar trees in Jacobs town, meaning the trees: Italian cypress; queen palm trees; date palms; ficus;
and pretty much every other tree except the red cedar can be used with minimum performance impacts .
I was also getting severe performance dip in Jacobstown, -30fps, and I traced it to this mod. I tried first only getting rid of the Red Cedars since Ashen said they were most intensive. That got about 10-15fps back but I was still taking a hit. Fully removing the mod and it was back to normal. Will add that I use WFO which probably compounds the issue, and I never noticed a problem with any other part of the map. But something to keep in mind I suppose.

Edit: Nevermind, I need to read more thoroughly next time.
At the moment, nope, I don't know of any.

Yeah, I am so happy to see you again.

Of course, after every such installation, where the exterior graphics are changed, I regenerate the LOD.
Fast travelled to Jacobstown and do a 180
With mod - 80fps
Without mod - 140fps
I play 1440p
This mod is really good but I can't sacrifice that much
Thanks for this and all your other stuff Ashens (Which I use) :)
