Hi! I downloaded this mod and did a little testing before starting a new playthrough with it. I've only found 4 of the encounters so far (don't want to spoil them all) and some of the people have subtitle dialogue but no sound playing. The examples being the woman by the pool table in the Prospector Saloon (I can hear the man she's talking to) and the male NCR soldier by Yangtze Memorial (I can hear the female soldier talking). I had no problems with the rangers in front of the saloon or the two settlers by the Bighorner pen. I checked in xEdit for conflicts and redownloaded the mod, but still no luck. Any help would be very much appreciated! The bits I've seen so far were great!
Heya. The issue is 100% on your end. I've tried on 3 different test saves (but in a new game each time) and their voice sounds were all there, mod functions as intended. Try re-downloading the mod and testing on a new game.
Hey, thanks for the reply. I've tried many times, with and without other mods, on new saves, redownloading the mod, but nothing works. It sounds like your right that it must be something on my end, but I just can't figure it out. It's alright though, it's not a deal breaker. I can still use the mod and read the subtitles.
I can also attest to this. I'm running this on the High and Dry modpack and I'm also not getting audio for these NPCs. It's such a shame too because this would've been perfect to make the world feel more lived in.
Do any of the encounters involve interacting with the player, or is it only npc's interacting with each other? Thus far I've only seen npc's interacting with each other, but wasn't sure.
They don't, I use all of them with More Mojave, TLD, 3DNPCs, MikeBurnFireNPCs and Mojave NPCs. The encounter series seems to only add content, I don't believe any base game interactions are edited from a quick glance in FNEdit.
I don't really want to turn on bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles=0 in the INI since it slows my game down, so I might just have to generate facegen patches, just gotta figure out how to do it first.
Brillliant idea, honestly it's fine if they're not random, that way you can write them so they're related to the places they're in Hope to see more from this I'd try it rn but I'm well into the endgame of a playthrough
Ok so I'm back after having seen pretty much all the encounters and my main takeaway so far is that this is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING STUFF, genuinely blown away by the quality of the writing, creativity of the encounter situations, lack of any real bugs (only tested it on 1 playthrough), and even the performaces were generally surprinsingly good.
My favorite has to be the one with the 2 troopers over at the war memorial, it caught me off guard how it had me reflecting on the setting and the general themes of the franchise in a really elegant way. Great writing like I said, pretty much across the board. And all these characters make the world feel so much more alive you really notice there aren't any like those in the rest of the game.
In terms of feedback I'd say the only real problem I can identify is audio quality. Many NPC's sound fine but others are hard to hear. Wouldn't have got what the drunk ranger was saying if it wasn't for the subtitles. And it's a lot more noticeable if there's a vanilla npc nearby to compare audio quality. I wouldn't ask for professional mic level audio, but higher volume would go a long way imo. It's a very common problem in mods like these so I'm guessing it's not so simple to fix.
Got a few other observations but I'm mostly really really happy this exists and I hope to see much more from you in the future. I also hope these mods get a lot more attention cause they sure deserve it.
More populated Mojave means more potential enemies to worry about. Living Desert pairs well with DUST even though it's not intended to be used with it.
great stuff, noticed this is turning into a series and i'd be 10000% even more greatful if all encounters mods can be made into a single file download one day, so one esp, to save my load order! lol
Oh yeah baby, i really hope you go as far as Freeside or maybe The strip...So many possibilities for encounters in especially in the casinos, since in vanilla they are dead...Thanks for all your work,i installed many of your mods for oblivion and loved them...Keep it up!
