Will vault 19 Powder gangers joining the khans affect this mod/FPGE?

This might sound odd but I have a question.

I love this mod, but I've noticed several playthroughs now that I cannot get Papa Khan to have any new dialogue. If I kill him, and speak to Regis, I can get the option to ask him to stay in the Mojave though.

And I was wondering if there is a console command I can input to trigger Papa Khan's "Stay in the Mojave" dialogue options to come up.

I know that the "make yourself Papa Khan's heir" command is "set vstoryeventnelson to 2" so is there anything similar we could console command so that Papa doesn't have to die in every playthrough of mine?

On gameplay side I agree that not disappear another faction is a good thing.

But on story side I have to disagree with this idea. Red Rock Canyon is a strictly defensive area. Plus Khans are earning big money from selling drugs. Once a community do that, they are rarely calm down enough to do real works like farming or raising cattle or doing factory works.

Also, Mojave is too bloody crowded to suffer Khan's presence. NCR squatters and cropsharers are migrating in. The locals, from Freesiders to Westsiders to Fiends to Vipers are still there.  If Khans stay they will just become another target and can not be left alone to grow.

There is logic in the development of having the Khans left for greener pasture. Their mentality make it so they cant live along peacefully with other groups. My way or high way, kinda like that.

If Khans can live in a land, they would have lived in NCR long before. They have strong roots there, after all. But they still left. Not just because they are defeated (because the defeat in F1 doesnt prevent them from rise again in F2), but because they are nomads, or at least, have strong nomad tendency.

You can give them Vegas and entire Mojave with Claim the Mojave mod. And by description, this mod infact addon for it, but without masterfile binding. Its really not much sense for GH to be in Mojave after Hoover Damn without this mod

I would disagree with this sentiment. The Khans have had a working relationship with quite a few outside factions, including the Followers of the Apocalypse. They are also quite tolerant of outsiders as long as they aren't NCR, and even that is just because NCR continues hostility against them.
But they can be convinced to create medicines as well as chems, agree to harbor ex Powder Gangers, put aside their anger to help the NCR, etc. Papa Khan is shown to be a very level headed ruler who listens to reason and criticism. And the Khans also farm and hunt for meat and hide, so they have some economy and culture outside of chems.

The Khans sell drugs in large amount to the Fiends. Not just piecemeal but in bulk toward the biggest group of Fiends, which live in Vault 3. The profit is going to be huge.

With that kind of thing, can they stay calm enough to do the hard work of farming? VERY hard work, because it's in a post apocalyptic conditions, in a valley far from other communities.

Their big chem trades started due to falling on hard times. They weren't always in the canyon, they were practically the ruling force of the Mojave until the NCR pushed them to Bitter Springs, and then again to Red Rock. The only real form of hostility they show anymore is toward the NCR. They are the only group able to bring any form of control to the Fiends. The Khans made a deal with them, telling them to stay out of Westside if they wanted to keep getting supplied. And even in their end slide, they create their own empire in Wyoming, which you can't do selling chems alone. And really, the only reason they do that now is because after the Followers taught them chemistry, Jack and Diane, their hippie chemists, both liked chems and realized there was a huge market for it.

All that whitewashing, :wave hands: , doesnt matter~ What matter is the facts.

The fact is that making and selling drugs is much more profitable than anything else. Especially when they can manage vertical monopoly, not sharing profits to anyone, straight from production to end user.

The fact is that Khan drug business is a community business, aka all the members can join in and share the profit, and not belong exclusively to any small group. hell, about the only one doesnt do drug is Papa Khan and (maybe) his left hand. Even his daughter lead a group doing that.

The fact is that farming in Red Rock Canyon is hard work. You just listen to the name and know how terrible land it is.

With those facts, nobody with half a brain will think the Khans will stay and do farm works. Hell, they can always buy foods from the farms and ranchs south of Vegas, or upward from Westside~

I mean, if we want to talk strictly facts, and not get into nuance at all that's fine.

For one thing the Wiki literally says they raise bighorners for their meat and leather, and have some modicum of knowledge in mining.
The Wiki, and in game, also states that there are different members who run different aspects of their society. Jack handles chems and medicine, Diane runs their economy. Melissa is their scout and ambassador of sorts. His son runs security, and Papa just watches over things as a whole.
Also, people in the Khans do more than just run drugs. Jerry the Punk is a poet, sure he doesn't like how rough and tumble the Khans are, but they don't interfere with him doing it. And in Bitter Springs, they took care of their elderly and infirmed. Which means they had to have healers, and people to take care of them.
Also, Melissa (The drug runner) is the daughter of the guy who speaks for Sloan. Even he says they aren't all bad people.

The Great Khans by the time of New Vegas are no longer just a one dimensional gang like the Fiends or the Jackals. They are a fleshed out tribe, with depth, inner politics and economics. Do they run chems at the moment? Yes. And given the state of things at the time, I don't blame them. But there's definitely more to them than just chems.
And if all the Khans did was take the easy route, they wouldn't attempt to join Caesar to get revenge against the NCR.

Yeah, what sort of independant society needs people who can mass produce medicine and chems such as
Jet an anthetamine meaning it can be used to help people with ADHD and some other conditions
Buffout a steroid meaning treatment for alergies, asthma and other condtions,
      Med X a pain killer
      etc
yes screw the faction that farms, has their own culture that isn't recreating the evils of America and who have a justifiable resistance to the NCR that genocided children. <sarcasm>

Discouraging modders with nonsensical personal opinions about the mods content is no way to build a community. This mod is very necessary for the game as it opens up the possibility to recruit the Khans so to speak, to join the independent vegas coalition against both the ncr and the legion.

You keep talking about the drug trade as a limiting factor when drugs create a lot of profit that can be used to give the Players side cartel like weapons and armor just look at the the families in the strip plus they could invest that money into making better things for the player.

In my pov the player rewards the great khans status by gifting them one of the casinos, the while gloves casino should be gifted to the khans as a reward as they are always killed in my playtrus since they are cannibals, and the great khans can use their nomad skills by taking over the Crimson Caravans operations, and becoming the Great Khans Caravans, a legit trading outfit for the players operations in new vegas. While its natural for anyone to go greener pasture, the player would be offering this greener pasture to the khans by getting the NCR off their back and by eliminating the fiends.

If the Khans have any tendency to stay they would have stayed in NCR where they have a lot of connections and grassroot people. Dont let their history with NCR fool you: a lot of faction would open their arms to such a bloodthirsty group, if nothing else the NCR military people (even now an exKhan ex1st Recon trooper still live in Novac as proof of this) and the Reno crime families.

So an offer of a casino in the Strip would have no attraction to that bunch of nomads. They stay nomad and tribals by CHOICE and their culture, not because they are knownothing tribals in the wild~

You can play like that if that's your designed scenario, just dont expect to convince anyone else~ It's your choice, sure, but it's also our choice to say we are not convinced.

im confused. do i go to yes man and say that the great khans can be ignored?  do i have papa khan break off the alliance and follow his legacy by leaving or do i tell yes man to ignore the khans, complete the side bets, break off the alliance with the legion and then convince them to stay?  how does this work?

Basically right before the final Battle at Hoover Dam, when you are given a chance to go talk to the Followers and "clean up" any sidequests you have left, go speak to Papa Khan, Regis, or Regis (if you were named Papa Khan's Heir) and convince them/order them to stay in the Mojave instead.

Is there a reason GreatKhansFactionNV is set as an ally to PlayerFaction when you convince Papa Khan to keep the Khans in the Mojave, but not when you ask Regis to do the same after you become the Khans' chieftain?

Thank you for creating this mod. The Great Khans have long been one of those aspects of New Vegas that were left dreadfully untouched by the modding community in regards to what their role could and should be in an Independent Vegas, and so it's very very cool to see this finally.
