From what I have observed none of the NPC's even have the ability to walk overtop any of the fire objects due to their navmesh pathing so it shouldn't be an issue. Please let me know if you run across an NPC that does walk over a fire if they do get damaged.
I've been waiting for a mod like this for the longest time! Also, can't wait to see how things go once you implement burning type effects to it.
By the way, I wanted to see if it affects NPCs, so I told Cass to guard on top of a campfire to see, and based on the companion readout, she was unharmed. (Don't worry, I had plenty of stimpacks and bandages on hand) So I guess the spell you used only damages the player at the moment.
I tried this myself when I was creating the mod and had the same result. However I use a heavily modded game so I wasn't certain if the mods I use would make a difference or not. Glad to see it didn't damage your companions at least.
Yeah, as hilarious as it would be to see the Legionaires near the Ganger captives constantly lighting themselves on fire, it would probably be nightmarish for people who have their companions set to essential.
I was working on this for a mod, to make a particular area more dangerous, but got distracted. This is a great implementation. Setting the player on fire would be excellent.
