About this mod

The definitive first-person animation pack for guns in Fallout: New Vegas and TTW. Two-and-a-half years in this making, this pack covers (almost) every weapon in base New Vegas, its DLCs, and in TTW. Includes configurable FOMOD install for ease-of-installation and customization.

DESCRIPTION
Hi everyone. rockbiter68, co-creator of this mod, writing the description. Before anything else, I want to clarify what this mod is and what this mod isn't.

WHAT THIS MOD IS:

This mod is a curated, AIO pack of rockbiter68's most recent animation sets and hitman47101's most recent animation sets that, together, cover (almost) every single gun in the entire game. The intention here is that one download = you covered all of your gun-related animation needs in the entire game.

That is just guns (see the Articles tab if you want to know how to cover other weapons comprehensively), you know, the things that shoot. This will be a repository for all future gun-based updates of the vanilla, DLC, or TTW weapons (meaning there are more updates to come for this mod to fully finish).

This mod does have a custom FOMOD install, thanks to the lovely Stentorious (by the way--you should use his Iron Sights Aligned mod with this one, as he was given a preview of this mod to update accordingly). You can select between a "Vanilla" preset, which installs our curated selection of animations that are best suited for vanilla meshes; the "WAP" preset, which is the same selection, just with some amendments to include animations that are built off WAP meshes and thus more suited for WAP users; and a "Custom" selection, which allows you to pick and choose whose animations you want applied to which guns--or to not apply any animations at all, which will make mixing and matching with animations by other authors far, far easier.

A note on the WAP preset: this installs the few animations we had available that were built off WAP meshes; the majority of animations included in the WAP preset were still built with vanilla meshes. You may still encounter clipping. This mod (click here) and this mod (click here) will help further alleviate some issues.

Finally, this mod does function as a repository for all of hitman's gun-related animations kNVSE animations, and all of rockbiter's gun-relatted kNVSE animations (excepting his pre-Part 1 reborn stuff). Want to install all of hitman's animations, and then use rockbiter's stuff to plug the gaps? No problem, you can use the Custom install to do that. Want to use all of rockbiter's stuff and use hitman's stuff to plug the gaps? No problem, you can use the Custom install to do that, too.


WHAT THIS MOD IS NOT:

First and foremost, this mod is not finished. It is almost finished. Below, you can find a list of weapons covered with our animations (almost all of them), and a list of weapons that are not covered by our animations (almost none of them). This mod will be updated with those missing animations in due time.

As noted above, this mod also does not include animation sets for the following: melee weapons, unarmed weapons, or throwing weapons (such as grenades, mines, spears, hatchets, etc.). Animations for those mods do exist. Again, follow the guide in the Articles tab to get kNVSE animations for those weapons and round out your game with custom kNVSE animations. Note that these sets will be collected for easier download at a later date, but they will always remain separate from this mod, which will only cover guns.

This mod also doesn't cover third-person animations, and likely never will.

This has been a long time coming. After the animation renaissance of 2020, you, the lovely users, have become spoiled for choice with a variety of excellent animations for this creaking, decrepit video game. This is a good thing! But it can also easily led to confusion. Us animators are fickle, sick creatures, often forgetting to fix a bug, or to apply an animation to a unique weapon. Worse, we tend to release our stuff set-by-set due to the extreme amount of time covering one weapon takes--but this is a nightmare for users. Trying to gather all relevant animations that you want and need is a chore, and picking and choosing between different authors requires you to perform no small amount of surgery on the game files to get things working. If you're new here, coming from the Fallout TV show (hi!), it's probably even more nightmarish--where do you even start?

Rejoice, for this is no more. We've gone through and cleaned up our .jsons (well, hitman and Stent did, I didn't), cleaned up a few sets (made them more gameplay friendly, added missing animations, etc.) and hitman and I hand-picked the animations that we thought would provide the best experience in-game. I also have noticed a tendency for people to use my animations with WAP meshes, which you really shouldn't, and so suggested an alternate preset for WAP users so you can click one button and be assured that you're getting our animations that were built for those meshes. Furthermore,I snuck in all of our old animations, even if they aren't used in the curated list--so there's no more fiddling with "Part 1 - Reborn," or "Season 2." If you want to use all of my animations, use the Custom option to do that; if you want to use all of my hitman's animations, use the Custom install to do that, too. Life is easy now, friends. Oh, this pack includes two new animation sets (by me!) for the Sniper Rifle and Automatic Rifle (installed by default for both presets). Enjoy! Also: uninstall all of our old stuff. Seriously.

Ultimately, I hope this makes your experience getting cool animations into your game--regardless if they're from me, hit, or someone else--way easier.

There's likely something heartfelt to be said here, but it's not like either of us are done animating this game--this mod isn't even finished! So, we'll see you all again soon, and have fun with the now (easier-to-install) animations.

REQUIREMENTS

INSTALLATION
  • This mod should be loaded after the following mods: sWRP, aWRP, and WAP.
  • Ensure you have the latest versions of xNVSE, kNVSE, and ISControl Enabler installed first.
  • Download the main file of this mod. Select a preset with the installer, or create a custom install for yourself.
  • Download and install Iron Sights Aligned to ensure that your iron sights are properly lined up with the crosshair and with whatever custom meshes you may have installed.
  • (OPTIONAL) See the "To-Do List" section for a short list of animations to plug some gaps. If you opted for a Custom installation, install your other preferred animation mods.
  • (OPTIONAL BUT RECOMMENDED) If you want all weapons in the game covered with new animations (included explosives, fists, throwing weapons, etc.), see the Articles tab for a brief list of animation packs you can safely install alongside this one.

COMPATIBILITY
  • Compatible with Viva New Vegas, and is the guide that we recommend anyone follow before modding their game in any way.
  • It is safest to uninstall any animation mods (including mine or hitman's) that overlap with the sets covered by this mod. See the "Animation List" section for a list of covered weapons. You may encounter issues if you do not.
  • The mod includes custom meshes for the following weapons: the 10mm SMG, the Sawed-Off Shotgun, the Double-Barrel Shotgun, the 9mm SMG, the 12.7mm Pistol, the Light Machine Gun, the Bozar, and the Grenade Rifle. Users using custom meshes (excepting WMIM, which is recommended) may need patches for their meshes.
  • You should load any locomotion mods before this mod.
  • Mesh/texture replacers are generally compatible (so long as they don't conflict with the meshes listed above), but you may encounter clipping issues or other weirdness with the animations. The majority of the animations were built on vanilla weapons (even with the WAP preset).
