Hello, I installed a nier automata graphics mod and now I can't see the items on the floor, my shots or the enemies'. If someone can help me I would be so thankful
I have no idea why this happens - you're the 2nd one to report something like this. Either way I can't help with this, sorry. It's not related to my preset and I'm not in the loop enough with Automata modding to know why it might happen. You could have luck with reshade v4.9.1 though. 5.x seems less compatible with SpecialK than 4.x, but that could have been bad luck on my side too. Nonetheless, it's worth trying imo.
I have the same issue as kissmoko and TheFacu43 as well. Certain things are invisible and the start menu doesn't have the Nier Automata title. Works fine without Special K so might be an incompatibility with other mods. Reshade works fine until I extract the "reshade-shaders" folder. No luck with 4.7.0 and 4.9.1 versions either. Love your work based on the screenshot btw.
So you're saying ReShade works fine with reshade-shaders extracted when SpecialK isn't on? In that case, it's something about SK.
I'm using ReShade 5.2.1 and SK v22.9.26 and my effects are still there.
Which other mods are you using?
And if you want, take a look at this I've been messing around with a new preset for some time now, just never completed it. It's more or less oriented at the screenshots with the "dark adaptation" stuff and some newer effects added
Oh wow, I didn't expect such a quick reply. I've been messing around with it a bit more and discovered that for some reason, moving the files in your ReShade preset circumvents the workaround posted here https://wiki.special-k.info/en/SpecialK/ReShade, regarding making Special K and ReShade work together. It brings back the glitched title screen and visual defects.
I also confirmed that without Special K, your preset works as intended.
Edit: It seems the workaround is not consistent, at least on my end, as Special K would work together with ReShade using the instructions above the first time I boot it up but after I close and restart without making any changes, the defects would appear. I've been redoing the workaround multiple times and it only works sometimes.
Oh, okay. It only tells you to rename ReShade's dll, though? Which files do you need to move from my preset? Sorry, I'm out of the loop of what needs to be where nowadays, which is why I just directed people to the guide instead..
All I can say is that I use ReShade and the texture pack without that workaround. Local ReShade install, global SK injection method. No issues for me Nevermind that, textures aren't loading lmao
Sounds good, let me try doing the global injection as well then. That might fix it. Also, I edited my earlier comment to note that your preset might not be the issue. I'll run a few more tests. Really love how your preset looks.

Of course! That's strange though. Does your game run into the defects if you don't use the workaround then? Also, my ReShade doesn't work with Special K unless I change the boot mode to "Early". Did you have to do this as well?
Usually early is the only one that works for me too, but this time lazy did the trick. Without the workaround the texture pack doesn't work. Or it does, but the render tools which you would use to make it don't. I was pretty convinced it did work tbh, comparing old nexus screenshot with the new one. But the render tool stuff threw me for a loop
Oh okay, switching back to local reshade global sk, now it behaves like yours. Main menu pretty much busted. Finally. Doesn't really make sense, but I'll take it.
So then, local SK + plugin ReShade it is. Make sure to grab the latest ReShade version, too. (chrome is yelling at me that it's dangerous, it's fine though. Just copied the link off of ReShade.me for convenience)

Ah, I was hopeful for a second but it stopped working on the second run. Uninstalled Special K already, should only be the DLL file in the main directory left. I wonder if it's generating a file that's messing with it.
Edit: Might be onto something. Deleting the dxgi.ini file revives it one time before it goes back to being busted. So I deleted the ini file, turned on the game, switched the boot mode to Early, restarted the game, and it would work once before I have to repeat it. Did you have any adjustments to your ini file?
Gonna do a clean install again, in case I did a messy uninstall on the Special K
Edit 2: Did a clean install but it's still only working on the first boot up. Not 100% sure if the "My Mods" folder should be in my Documents on a local install but it's reappearing despite the clean reinstall.
My Mods is always gonna be there, yes. And well, I don't have the config in my NieR folder, if that is your goal It's inside \Documents\My Mods\SpecialK\Profiles\NieRAutomata™ Here's mine if you wanna give it a try. Might not work when Nier runs in exclusive fullscreen mode, so be aware
Great news, Chaser! It's working now, thanks a lot for your help. The issue was apparently in the auto-generated dxgi.ini file. After renaming your file and replacing my main folder ini, I was to run Special K with ReShade and your preset consistently with no issue. Didn't expect you to be so responsive and chill either :))
Edit: The problem is likely booting ReShade as "Early", changing that to PlugIn seems like is making the difference. Side note though, how did you get the Framerate subsection using your ini? I don't have that one mine when I use my auto-generated ini.

Hi! That shouldn't happen. I set up the config file in a way that the clean preset is active, sounds like it is not in your case. At the top it should say "CleanPreset_New", if it says "ReShade Preset" its incorrect and you should open the dropdown menu to select the other one. If you can't find it maybe something went wrong and you need to extract the archive again.
Thanks a lot for this! But my screen goes black with lut enabled and it says v__textLUT: lut.png was not found. Is the file in the textures folder supposed to be named lut.png and not lut_clean_2023.png? im scared to change it because i got it working after hours lol.
How odd. If you've got the correct preset selected it *should* adapt to use the name I gave the lut. Glad you figured that out though!
You can select the more vibrant one in the ReShade overlay by clicking on the active preset which should open a dropdown menu. I might've gone a bit too conservative for some on that one as I wanted to keep the vibe of the original colorgrading alive somewhat. If you want it more vibrant and you've downloaded the standard shader package in the ReShade installer there should be vibrance.fx near the bottom of the shader list. That's vibrance only and won't affect anything else :)
Both of the presets have only LUT, FGFX: :LSPOIrr and Pirate_Bloom checked off with I think saturation being the only difference. Is that correct or is something wrong?
How did you get it to work? I've been trying for 30 minutes now, but my game just black screens with reshade loaded even with the setting marked in Special K
I don't really know what's the common approach anymore but I checked my files and I've got SK installed locally and load reshade via SK as PlugIn. Best to try all modes though, I remember the usual recommendation lazy not working for me. Also check if bande is installed, that one used to complicate things
Hi, Im sorry if this is obvious but to use the 2023 version, do i need to add the 2023 files to the ones in the Complete Package? Or is it independant of the Complete Package? Do i just add the 2023 files to the appropriate locations while replacing the old Complete package files that share names with the new 2023 ones?
I should make this less confusing, sorry. 2023 is independant of the complete package and overwriting the complete packages stuff with the 2023 files is completely okay.
Mods for this game are very difficult compared to any other game out there. I finally got this mod to work, it cant be in full screen or itll make the game unplayable and you will have to reinstall everything all over again. Every mod I use for this game seems to have devistating consequences on the smallest issues. I'm just about to say the hell with it, and play the game vanilla.
My memory ia a bit hazy but the biggest incompatibility I know of would be SpecialK + ReShade and Bandé with any of the prior 2. If you're this annoyed already just skip Bandé. SK and ReShade work fine together on my end. Looks like I've been using Local SK and ReShade loaded as PlugIn.
Avoid exclusive Fullscreen and use Borderless instead in general. Nowadays the difference between the 2 is negligable and Borderless is more convenient and has no potential to cause issues.
And if it's still not working and you're REALLY fed up with, skip ReShade too and go with SK only for the Texture Pack. That I wouldn't skip, it has the biggest visual impact. Adjust the gamma ingame to be fairly low and you'll be alright. Not like it's ugly without ReShade. :)
Right, LODmod shouldn't be incompatible with the above. That one can have great visual impact too (shadow resolution, additional shadowcasters like the Grass etc)
