Reshade looks nice. I was curious in the screenshot of Beauvoir, the background gets blurred. Did you have a DOF shader running there? I didn't notice any other backgrounds being blurred. Thanks
Hi. Yes. In the screenshots before and after. It can be seen that there is no blur on the vanilla game. In the comments below, I attached a link to the DOF setting for the game. It should be similar as in the screenshots. https://imgur.com/a/8BZxqhN
Hey, I’m a complete beginner to modding. I’m trying to Install this mod on NAMH, but it doesn’t seem to be working. I tried to install it through the Reshade thing on the wrappers section of NAMH, but it says that the necessary files are missing or something along those lines. I’m wondering how to make possibly install it through NAMH, because if I use the Reshade shown on your pictures, then my textures on NAMH won’t work. I’m assuming it’s because they both share the file dxgi.dll and when both are on, my screen just turns black.
Hi. Black screen. Because the LUT texture from my preset is missing in the "Textures" NAMH folder. Below in the comments there was already a question about the installation for NAMH (metalburner). You can install it in several ways. 1. Download shader pack in the optional files (it has all the necessary shaders) from NAMH mod page. 2. Move this to NieRAutomata\NAMH\Injectors\ReShade - there should be two folders Shaders and Textures here. 3. Next, move the LUT texture (NieR-LUT1.png) from my preset to the Textures folder (along the path above). 4. If there is a NieRAutomata\NAMH\Injectors\ReShade along this path, there is .dll and .ini files move my preset there Nier-Automata-LUT.ini or Nier-Automata-LUT2.ini. Next you need to select this preset (sorry, I didn't use NAMH so I can't answer more specifically). You can also follow 1. 2. the installation points that I described above and move only Nier-Automata-Re.ini - this preset does not need a LUT texture.
Hi. This shows where the focus center of the depth of field is located :) Click on the "Home", select "CinematicDOF" from below, find the inscription "Show out-of-focus plane overlay on mouse down" and simply disable this option. I also set up a DOF for the game. These are quick settings, I haven't tested them. Just copy the values that I showed in the screenshots. Use the ADOF settings from the screenshot under the number "2". https://imgur.com/a/8BZxqhN
I got it working and loaded with SpecialK installed, but the depth buffer isn't working (I'm on SMAA), and shader toggler also doesn't seem to be working? Any advice
Reshade add-ons page only shows "specialk", no shader toggler. I also put the shader toggler ini file in the same folder as the shader toggler addon file (in the games .exe folder) I also don't seem to have "generic depth buffer" in the add-ons tab. this usually appears in other games although i've never had to use it
Tried with various game setting effects on & off. Tried all combo of depthdisplay parameters, nothing. screen is always either fully black, white, purple, or split between 2 of these colours but never shows depth at all.
Honestly not too worried about shader toggler, but can't seem to figure out the depth buffer not working at all. Exact same settings as you have in your main post. Is specialk possibly overriding something? If so idk what to toggle on and off. I am at a loss genuinely, everything else works fine just not the depth buffer/related effects :/
What is your version of SpecialK? I used the latest available version in their Discord. I wanted to unlock the aspect ratio restrictions to enable "portrait" mode. In short, a non-standard resolution. It worked, but it worked once. Then with other mods, I still did not understand which setting is responsible for that function. But the depth buffer works. In my presets, I set the value "0" for the correct display of the depth buffer so that people who downloaded the preset would not have to do it manually. You can try resetting the depth settings in the DisplayDepth.fx shader (it happens that if you set everything correctly, but the buffer is not displayed correctly, this reset may help, or not). Is there an addons tab without a SpecialK? I understand, and most likely you did it. But I'll ask. Have you downloaded the addon-enabled version? https://imgur.com/a/Ox2kzCa
Thanks for the detailed and quick response. after an insane amount of trial and error (since idk what i'm doing lol) i finally managed to get the depth buffer working thanks to your screenshots! really appreciate it. And not only that but shader toggler and all other add-ons work now too. Game looks amazing for screenshot sessions now, ty!
I honestly can't remember/not sure what it was that actually got the depth buffer working correctly so I can't give any good instructions for anyone else that encounters this problem, although probably unlikely. But in a nutshell I had to make Reshade(latest version) run independently of SpecialK(latest version), but since SpecialK uses the dxgi.dll, Reshade had to be renamed d3d11.dll and Reshade fully disabled in SpecialK and related configs, instead of following the official SpecialK instructions for installing Reshade/Instructions in description. Thanks again <3
I'm glad that some of this helped you :) Yes. As I understood from the comments. Reshade and SpecialK have always not been particularly combined together. An interesting way to separate them is in your last paragraph.
edit- i fixed it got everything working after 3hrs finally but now i have a doubt when i chose lut file it has some enabled options and some desabled ones what to do should i turn them on? also the cinamatic depth of field does not work it blurs everything same as adof or adox whatever thats called and the distance one just makes the whole screen blue or black. any fix please
can you please give a guide on how to install this as a beginner i have installed special k and reshade as mentiond on special k wiki renamed dxgi.dll to reshade.dll than installed specialk dll and renamed it to dxgi.dll and then i added hd texture pack also i added automata lod mod (all this according to definative editon guide) now how do i install your mod
DOF and other effects will not work correctly without a Depth Buffer. Enable SMAA in the game settings. And check if it works correctly (the screen should be black-gray/white) by turning on the "DisplayDepth" shader. Two versions with LUT and what is included there is as it should be. You can turn on the CinematicDOF [CinematicDOF.fx], ADOF [qUINT_dof.fx] at your discretion. The version without LUT, and the shaders enabled there, were mostly used for color correction (they do not need to be enabled in the LUT version - since the LUT contains all the color settings) :) You can overwrite the presets. Or delete it. And unpack them again from the archive. Strangely, by default, the DOF effect is not enabled in the LUT version. Leave a single .ini preset file in the game folder. I indicated that the SpecialK can use shaders that are not enabled in the active preset.
I followed the installation instructions (tried reinstalling it already)but loading any of the presets in-game only changes contrast and colour saturation. No dof and other effects. the correct graphics settings (SMSA on, FX stuff off etc.) are set
By default, these effects are disabled (I did not set up the DOF for the game. And part of the interface will be blurred). You can turn on the DOF effects yourself, they will be the same as in the screenshots. Press the "Home" button and turn them on. These are CinematicDOF [CinematicDOF.fx], ADOF [qUINT_dof.fx] (turn on one of them), MXAO [qUINT_mxao.fx], Chromatic Aberration [Prism.fx].
If you've got the time, would you mind answering another question? How did you manage to get the images so crisp? Neither the in-game SMSA nor forced driver MSAA really changes much of the flickering textures I see everywhere. Is there a fix for that ?
Besides the reshade, I don't use any other mods. I also use DSR 4K resolution (smoothness by default), high resolution adds anti-aliasing and clarity. I noticed the DLAA parameter in the SpecialK settings, but I didn't check it, it would be the best AA. The textures you are talking about can most likely be fixed with a mod Automata-LodMod (without editing the ini). But with the mod, the game becomes quite demanding.
Does your special k note also apply to those of us who are using NAHM? It has Reshade already set up and trying to install new shaders via this method is impossible. cant you provide the shader file?
I looked at the mod page, there is a shader pack in the optional files (it has all the necessary shaders). Tell me where is the folder with ReShade textures in that mod? Are there two folders here "\NieRAutomata\ReShade\Presets" - Shaders and Textures? I also need to know where the .ini presets are located. Let me know so I can update the installation guide.
Need to move the texture "NieR-LUT1.png" from my preset to the folder where the "Textures" reshade is located. And select "Nier-Automata-LUT.ini" as a preset... But you can choose the "Nier-Automata-Re.ini" version (without performing the above actions with texture transfer), this version does not need a LUT.
NAMH is a kind of collection of mods. My note on Special K refers to it. Namely, to the new versions that they have in their Discord. Maybe they'll fix it.
ah right, i forgot about the shader optional on NAMH's page. thanks.
the structure is like this: ...\NieRAutomata\NAMH\Injectors\ReShade
shader and texture file are in it as well as all the reshade .ini stuff and .dll
i dont have a reshade folder in main directory. i installed a simple reshade a while ago. I dropped it in my current path that i indicated above, and its been working without issue. i will try yours now
Thanks for the information. In any case, you can do the same with the installation instructions. And then move all the files to the path you need for NAMH. I don't upload shaders, because during installation, the reshade creates its own ini with the specified path to those two folders (the path may be different, disk partition, etc).
