   It really is too bad that this was never updated. This used to be how I could find underground animals. After the Companions update I've found exactly one underground species, it has never been worse.

   for me it still works. well, sometimes. there are areas on planets where nearly all different species spawn at the same time and then there are areas where nothing spawns at all. but maybe thats becasue i play with a planet generation mod and not with vanilla planets

   Unintended side-effect of this mod appears to be that flying creatures basically never show up, works wonders for everything else.

   Even with this, I often find animals only spawn when I get super close to where they will be, or they spawn just as I land from jetpacking. Any idea?

    Yeah, like some people, i'll have to report that I'm with some problems to find flying creatures. they just doesn't spawn in some planets
