About this mod
This is more of a tool than a mod; a floorplan mapping spreadsheet I've devised to assist with the planning and design of Freighter Bases.

I drew some preliminary schematics in pencil for how I wanted to build my base levels, but it didn't take much erasing to decide that I needed to build my map on a computer program. I searched the web and found that I was in completely virgin territory - I was going to have to build it myself. I decided to build a mapping tool on a spreadsheet program. I'm very pleased with my results and decided to share my little toy with the community.
What I've made is artistically detailed, but very simple. I've set up a spreadsheet with a 22 x 21 grid of squares representing each Freighter Base level. Above this are clickable and draggable 'pieces' representing the Freighter Base building parts in the game.
By copying and pasting these parts onto the grid you can, piece by piece, build a map of your future or existing Freighter Base. Right-clicking reveals options to help you orient each piece and simply cutting without pasting will remove pieces that you wish to remove.
And voila - I've turned a spreadsheet program into a computer mapping tool. You can toggle into and out of game to consult your spreadsheet diagram as you build if you have just one monitor, but those with multi-monitor set-ups will have their Freighter Base Map right next to them as they build! You can also roll 'old-school' if you prefer by printing a copy and base building with your 'blueprint' right next to you. The spreadsheets are print-ready - all you have to do is fill in the grid with your base plans.
What this 'Mod' provides:
- Tabbed spreadsheets in OpenDocument (.ods) format, which can be downloaded from the internet for FREE from LibreOffice and OpenOffice. The floor tabs are bottom left.
- 22 x 21 grid representations of each floor of you Freighter Base. (The Endurance update expanded this from a 21 x 21 grid)
- Movable base building 'pieces' representing every configuration of in-game Freighter Base design. These pieces are proportionally 'accurate' to one another and snap into place next to each other like puzzle pieces. Once you have filled each grid you will have an accurately mapped representation of each level of your base.
- A versatile way to 'play around' with building choices before you commit in-game resources.
- A method to ensure maximum utilization of space.
- A precision instrument for constructing accurately proportional representations of Freighter game-space.
- The option to print a level-by-level map of each floor of you Freighter Base.
- A way to share with one another the basic designs of Freighter Bases. I would LOVE to see your designs, so feel free to post images!
This 'Mod' does NOT provide:
- Creativity. I've attached an image of my own base to show you what I've done, but beyond that you'll need to come up with your own ideas about how you would like your Freighter Base to be.
- Changes of any kind to the game world. This is not a mod - just a tool to be used Outside of game. You must still utilize in-game resources to build you base in No Man's Sky. Freighter Base Floor Plan provides no in-game short-cuts or cheats.
- An automatic base building generator. You have to design each level of your base yourself, piece by piece, just like in the game.
You will need LibreOffice or OpenOffice to use this mod as intended. Although I originally designed this on Excel not everyone has that program installed on their computer and I no longer have access to a copy myself presently. LibreOffice and OpenOffice are free downloads and I've redesigned my spreadsheet to work perfectly with them. Those that open this file with Excel will find that it works, but you will have to re-scale the pieces to properly fit the grid, or re-scale the grid to fit the pieces.
I have also written a new READ ME included with the download, which contains some directions and a short FAQ to help everyone out because, to be frank, my 1.2 Update introduced some added complexity. You will be Stacking pieces on top of each other far more than before.
I've posted my own floor plan to provide an example of what can be done with Freighter Base Floor Plan and I'd love to see what you create, so feel free to post pictures of your own layouts to help provide creative inspiration for the rest of us!
I appreciate your interest in my modest efforts and hope they prove useful to someone!
