I can't believe how incredibly hard it is to find wild base computers and then if by some miracle I find it, also near a minor settlement so I can just run over there and buy some things if I need them and even then... near a power supply and a gas supply ugh:-( I'm gonna give this mod a go and see what happens. I can't stand base building in this game, travel away and then come back to find all the terrain grown over my base even if I plopped down a bunch of flat metal tiles to flatten everything instead of using multi tool.
EDIT
OH YEAH it worked!!!! Had to make the MODS folder in the gamedata folder then dump this mod folder and contents into the MODS folder and done!
I can see it has been updated but can not make it to work. Despite using planetary chart no base is found, only depot, manufacturing facility and operations centre.
not sure how to compile but after a hour of (unsuccessfully) trying to extend power from my base (near a s class cadmium that took a hours to find) to a power place 1.5 k away bit over some of that part of the game. Would kill for someone to update this or make a new one.
I no longer update my NMS mods because somebody decided to hijack one and post it as his own. The Lua files are available in the Lua Script Repository maintained by Babscoole. He has maintained them fairly well given my lack of doing so.
I'm having issues with it as well, but tbqh I'm too lazy to try using the lua thing. Still too new to this game. If someone has it working on the current version, could you tell us whatcha did?
I don't really see it as a cheat per se either, because finding bases this way was actually how the original version of the game worked. Most people complained that they wanted to build bases where they wanted, so they removed this and replaced it with the ability to build a base anywhere.
Hey i am having a problem with my settlement where an incomplete building has clipped into the mountain. Could you please make a mod that will allow me to use my mining tool in settlement and flatten that mountain, or any solution that you can think of. Thanks
The current lua is 100% valid and creates an exact duplicate of the current mod .pak, does not need to be updated. Even though I checked back in June, I just double checked now. :)

Here are some pictures of the problem
