I am a person who likes to run from place to place, I played over 100 hours of OB without fast travel and I do the same for F03 and FNV. I simply get more enjoyment from the game by not using fast travel with that said though I have some questions.
If you really can't control yourself, or not just use fast travel that "one time" is running around really more enjoyable for you? I myself have more fun not using it so I don't think about using it, on the other hand after playing OB for over 100 hours some paths start to get VERY worn and then fast travel can come into play to improve the experience.
What about crashes? When ever I get a crash in FNV, I use fast travel to get back to where I was or a little farther on(to simulate the time I would have been running while I had to reload the game).
What do you do when testing a new mod you want to add?
I am not trying to bash this mod even though its not for me I just wanted to understand more.
I use this because when I know I have the ability to Fast Travel i'm gonna use it, it would be stupid not too. But I want too explore more so this is great way too help that.
I remember in Morrowind that I would use the fast travel services whenever I could, it got me to where I want to go faster and I didn't have a problem using it because it fit so well into the game. The fast travel in Oblivion is instead like some weird kind of magic that everyone has. But I still had the urge to use it because it was there and I am usually in a hurry. This mod works well with ones that add fast travel services in game, makes it a more real experience and gives another reason for money.
I wouldn't call the Morrowind system "Fast Travel", but rather a normal travel service like the ones you find in real life. And they didn't go everywhere either, so you actually had to plan how you'd proceed. Which city/Mages Guild/Recall Mark I've set/Temple/Stronghold is my destination closest to?
Also, I hated going to Ald Velothi. Seriously, you cannot define "Backwater" better than by simply saying "Ald Velothi" (the Redoran guy there wasn't exaggerating). Even Hla Oad, which was nothing more than a collection of Shacks in the Swamp, had better travel connections...though I suspect that the Camonna Tong slavers had their hands in getting that connection set up. I think the bad general connection in Ald Velothi is why they put the ship to Solstheim there later on. So you'd at least visit it *sometimes*.
I know what the mod is for, I just wonder if the game is truly more enjoyable for people if they can't resist the urge to fast travel. I ask because I don't have the urge myself(most of the time) because its more fun to not but if I did(like now after having played my current game over 100 hours) I would and I do. Also what do you do about crashes, etc. Basically I would like to understand more of the mindset behind this and why what I have said does or does not apply to those that use this mod.
Great mod thanks!.. I will be endorsing after my time is up.
(kefka)- what is it you are trying to understand or better yet what is there to understand?... This mod is to eliminate all possibility of fast travel just like the title says. If you can't understand that than maybe this mod isn't for you lol.
This is excellent, simple, and sweet. Ever since playing with fast travel in Oblivion, I've despised it. Extremely unrealistic and anti-exploration. Makes no sense to me and has no place in my game. BUT, it's obvious to me that we all need a transit system to make getting around easier. The most sensible implementation would be a good airship route system, or maybe an akatosh mount with a preconfigured path. I'm not up to making it. Is anybody out there? Surely it must be easier to script a ship to go along a set path than to allow the player to steer it. Allowing the player to steer has been done. So, why don't we have an airship route yet?
This is one of the few mods which has no drawback. Fantastic work, I can't tell you how many times throughout my 1000+ hours of gameplay I have tried to play without fast-travel. Now I can resist all temptations!
