Coloring works, zooming doesn't work. Wasted few hours trying to fix it, installing both manually and with mod organizer. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
Here is what I've gathered from reading so many comments. Hope it saves someone else who's refusing to buy the remastered version some time.
If you can't zoom in/out and the map is fully zoomed out when you open it, just... wait. Some mods load slower than others. If I wait 5-10 seconds after loading into the game and then open the map, it all works as expected. If you do open it and it's not working, close and reopen the map until it does.
Also these are the zoom in/out changes you need to use mouse wheel in Dynamic Map base.ini: set tnoDM.zoomIn to 264 set tnoDM.zoomOut to 265
1. Download and install Oblivion Mod Manager. 2. Restart MO2 and OBMM will automatically be added to the run options. 3. Download Dynamic Map Manually and extract. 4. Start OBMM using MO2, select Create, then Add folder, then locate and select your Dynamic Map extract. This will contain 00 Core, 01 Color Map, etc. folders. Select yes to all. Click Create omod. 5. Double-click to activate. Select your preferred option. You should end up with a dark blue square icon. 6. Close OBMM. Right click your Overwrite, click create mod, and title it Dynamic Map. 7. Done
I see the instructions say to install 00Core and one of the 01 maps, but will the mod still function with only selecting the core? I ask because I prefer the vanilla map appearance. The closest is the colored, but I love the old look.
Seems only to work with "Color"/"Elven"/"Hightmap". "Terrain Map" gives wrong scaling (map markers have about a factor of 1.5 other coordinate scaling). Zoom Buttons not working at all.
Tried to replicate the workflow from the previous post (using MO2 as well). Cannot replicate the step "select Create". * There's a "File" menu - no "Create" in it. * There's a "Tools" menu - no "Create" in it. * There's a context menu in the mod list - there is a "Create empty Mod" in it, but then no "add folder" and no "create omod".
Sorry: It's just not there! I don't know with which SUB-VERSION of the MO2 you work. My is 2.4.2, and it has no such things as described in the post below. This how to guide is just broken.
Nontheless, we may use the "Terrain Map", but only after manually rescaling the dds, and without zoom buttons, obviously.
Dynamic Map -- when the map shows but icons out of place, no zoom etc - "everything slided and misplaced" -
HOWTO FIX ! (One story and detailed solution)
I installed Dynamic Map via Wrye Bash, using 00 Core and 01 Terrain Map only, then realized is has a prerequisite, MenuQue, so I also installed that by Wrye Bash. The map showed ingame, but the icons were all out of place, in my case, NW of where they should be, so Imperial City icons showing around Chorrol on the map. And it wouldn't zoom, and the SE area, Leyawiin etc, wouldn't show as the map wouldn't move that far south.
Ingame, the console, when opened, showed an error message:
Errors in script 2b000800 Operator [ failed to evaluate a valid result File: Dynamic Map.esp offset 0xC0 Command: Let Error in script 2b08800 Invalid array access - the array was not initialized
Looking at the Nexus Forums, it seems a few people have this, or a similar, problem. The only clue I could see was someone saying they had this problem then realized there was a file missing from OBSE. And, MenuQue (Nx32200) is listed as a prerequisite.
So, looking at the MenueQue Nexus info page,, I noticed the uninstall procedure: " Delete or change the extension of the "MenuQue.dll" found in your "Oblivion\Data\obse\plugins" folder. Optionally delete the "MenuQue" folder and "MenuQue.ini" "
Thought I'd check what was there in my game: Oblivion>Data>OBSE>Plugins and I found obse_jail_fix.dll, obse_training_fix.dll, and a MenuQue folder which only had MenuQue.ini in it. (So, no 'MenuQue.dll anywhere !)
Going back to my 'downloads' folder (away from my Oblivion folder), where I'd DL'd MenuQue, I created a new folder, 'MenuQue expanded', and copied 'MenuQue16b-32200-v16b.zip' into it, then used 7-Zip (R.click in Windows Explorer) to 'unzip here'.
I got MenuQue Readme.txt and a Data folder, inside Data folder was a Docs folder and an OBSE folder. (Docs folder just has menuque_command_doc.html in it) Inside the OBSE folder, a Plugins folder, Plugins folder had: MenuQue.dll, OBSE_Kyoma_MenuQue.dll, and a MenuQue folder which contained Settings.ini, Submodule.CS.dll, and Submodule.Game.dll
So I went manual, I dragged and dropped everything inside Expanded MenuQue16b-32200-v16b.zip>Data>OBSE>Plugins folder into Oblivion>Data>OBSE>Plugins.
Installation done ! Now for config:
Since I prefer to use a mouse for zooming in/out of the map, I went to Oblivion>Data>Ini and edited Dynamic Map Base.ini, as suggested by the author the first few lines set tnoDM.zoomIn to 2> change 2 to 264 set tnoDM.zoomOut to 3> change 3 to 265 set tnoDM.zoomReset to 4 > leave as is, don't change.
Then for safety, re-ran TES4LODGen (from Wrye Bash, icon at bottom), then re-built the Bashed Patch. Then, the game ran fine, the map showed correctly, icons and PC marker in the correct places, map zoomable In/Out, and moveable to show everywhere. Woohoo ! So all those little tracks in Unique Landscapes Compilation (v.2) now show ! and Elsweyr Valenwood, and hopefully soon the rest of Tamriel as I install the Tamriel World Map Project (TWMP)/Under the Sign of the Dragon mods.... I hope this helps anyone else with this problem. I discovered Dynamic Map by accident (as a reference in TWMP/Under the Sign of the Dragon, Nexus info page, I think) and was JUST what I've been looking/asking for. So Takk! Ole Boe/TheNiceOne, for this wonderful mod, and thanks!, upstairs, for your guidance! Now probs fixed, =[Endorsed!]= Cheers ! :-) ^_^
Looks like your Wrye Bash copy don't want to install OBSE plugins. It's easy to make it happen: in Installers tab right click Package tab and deselect "Skip OBSE Plugins" near the bottom.
This issue only happens to me on older different character saves I haven't played in quite a long while! Never happens on my main character saves! I don't know why!
I downloaded this Mod and VKVII Oblivion Cyrodiil Map Weathered and It just doesn't work. The Game just uses the Vanilla Map. I have OBSE and MenuQue and the ESP is Bellow Bashed Patch.

*Solved: for the icons to look like in the images you have to install this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/18285?tab=files&file_id=27299
