Thank you for the mod! Could you please give some details on how did you fix the neon blobs? There are some other mods with the same issue, would be nice to know how it can be fixed.
Wow this is - I'm speechless. Infinite lods at no performance cost? I'll take that, thank you very much:) Also, after installing this, it seemed to have solved a second problem which was I wasn't able to generate lods for the bridges from Roads of cyrodiil.
Just something that might save some frustration by others -- if you install all the mods listed by the author as recommendations, the Stutter Fix mod imposes a 30FPS limit by default, which you'll need to modify inside its .ini file. It confused the hell out of me, because I was coming from using RAEVWD full install, where I was getting 40-50FPS when looking at the whole map, and then when I purged and only used the core of RAWVWD, and this mod (along with its recommendations), it went down to 30 basically capped.
The mod is great though, I have a pretty high end system (5800x CPU and 3080 GPU) and I'm getting about 99 in the same area as I'd get 40 with full RAWVWD, and I can't see any real difference in the structures.
As ElliotHarvey mentioned, the core of RAWVWD with this is great.
This is straight up just a better version of what RAEVWD does in almost every single way. Some things are missing in comparison such as certain shrine stones and town/city interior buildings when viewed from outside, but unlike RAEVWD I don't get an excessive FPS drop for what otherwise is such a basic concept of being able to see ruins and buildings from a distance (even if lower poly). While with RAEVWD I would see a 60+ fps drop in certain areas, Colourwheel is only about 20 (which is fine considering I run between 80-120 fps in exterior areas before any LOD mods.)
I can't recommend this mod enough, and it deserve way more endorsement than it has.
Update: By combining both RAEVWD and Colourwheel, using RAEVWD for visible city buildings from outside, and Colourwheel for everything else, I was able to create a stable version that gives the best of both worlds.
Been using VWD mods alongside the big graphics and landscape mods for a decade now. Along the way trying out the various VWD ones I just realized that ya gotta suck it up and eat half the framerate you were accustomed to. In my case RAEVWD, Qarl's, UL and a LOT of other graphics mods gave me a pretty solid 30fps, low 20s in the areas where you'd have a lot going on.
Found this. Installed the Core file from RAEVWD and then this full package over it and my framerate is now at or close to 60 most of the time. In the same trouble areas I haven't seen it dip below 40 and it just "feels" better.
For what it's worth I also use the UOP's, OSR, ENBoost and Engine Bug Fixes. But I've always used them and the only difference this time was just using the core folder from RAEVWD and this mod on top of it. Solid game improvement and I can't tell the difference visually between full RAEVWD and this.

THis mod is so overpowered for such little fuel from my PC it brought this to life without massive long loading screens so thank you my friend for bringing the game back to 2020. This mod should be essential for anybody with lower end PCs.
Is Evenstars Colourwheel LOD Update generally considered better then RAEVWD, even though it hasn't been updated in 12 years compared to RAEVWD which was updated last year.
Do I need to install the original Colour-Wheels (CW) LOD first and then override with this update or can I install this update as is...
Does Evenstars Colourwheel LOD Update cover more / less or the same objects as RAEVWD.
I previously tried Evenstars Colourwheel LOD Update but had to uninstall because I experienced weird issues with LOD objects flashing bright yellow and red / blue reflections in the water. According to REAVWD website...this issue is caused by VWD meshes having vertex colour properties. RAEVWD claims it's meshes are cleaned of these issues. When I did experience these issues I had both Evenstar LOD and RAEVWD installed at the same time. Looking at the incompatibility section on the description page I now see this glitch effect was caused by the two different VWD meshes conflicting with each other.
Will I get this same glitch by using just Evenstars Colourwheel LOD but if I was to run Tes4ll either before or after installing Evenstars LOD.
Hey there, love the mod, it lets me see so many things with such a small performance impact! I noticed a problem that I was easily able to solve, though. I'm using Unique Landscapes and HESU and between the two, there was some very severe lag, but only when certain areas were on the screen. Particular mods along the Jerall and Valus mountains used extreme quantities of rocks for their landscaping which work together with your LOD to generate extreme levels of lag. One thing I noticed is that all of these areas have vast quantities of tiny rock LODs that may only represent a pixel or two from a distance. I deleted only the tiny and small sized rock LODs from the installed meshes and gained 30fps and slashed my load time. I guess with a long enough view distance, every single tiny and small rock in Cyrodiil is trying to be rendered and it really hurts even a modern GPU with lots of memory. I don't notice the difference in visual quality.
Thanks for this mod! I'm not sure about one thing: is it possible to use it together with the QTP3 texture pack from Brumbek? What I did was uninstalling RAEVWD completely, then putting your mod in Wrye Bash right where RAEVWD was, namely before the aforementioned texture pack, selecting all the subpackages and finally installing it. I think I see more distant objects than before, but performance didn't change much, maybe because I have added even more stuff? Now I can even see the rocks UL added for snowdale for instance, from the imperial city surroundings!
FYI, I am using OGO, Better Cities and AWLS, which alter the lod as far as I know. Your mod has been installed before these, Should it be installed after to get more benefits?
