Okay, new problem. This one may have a similar issue to the IC Market District issue, only Better Clocks isn't the issue (as I no longer have it installed).
I noticed that in the IC Arena District, the space between the arena and the easternmost wall has "floating" features--similar to that which appeared in the IC Market District when Better Clocks was installed. In this case, it is the wooden pathway and the vegetation that sits alongside it. Other parts of the district isn't affected. For example, the sidewalks were "missing" in the Market District when Better Clocks was present. Here, the sidewalks aren't missing. Rather, it is literally the ground underneath that is gone. Well, gone isn't the right word. There is ground, in the form of a massive pit. The pit drops far enough down, that you can literally walk underneath the city walls to the east.
I know that Better Cities is part of the problem, because this issue isn't present when the mod isn't installed. I don't know if this is a complication due to another mod or mods I might have installed. Any thoughts?
Hi. So I'm having a similar problem with getting Better Cities and the fix to work. I don't have or use Unique Landscapes. What I do have (and want to use) is Clocks of Cyrodil.
If I run Oblivion w/ Better Cities + the fix, but w/o Clocks, the fix works just fine.
If I use the resources of Clocks (but not the ESP), and BC (using the BC Clocks addon), both the city map and the IC Market district are very fubar. This is both w/ and w/o the map fix; also w/ and w/o the Better Clocks for Better Cities mod.
If Clocks for Cyrodil is really compatible with BC, what pieces should I use (and in what order)?:
Clock assets w/ or w/o the ESP
The BC version of Clocks ESP
The map fix
Better Clocks for Better Cities
--------------------- Just an update (in case anyone is watching this thread). It turns out this is actually two separate issues. The first was the world map looking like an old analog TV failing to get reception. The second issue was the sunken roads in IC Market (causing some doors and decorations to float).
As to the first problem, the load order was indeed the culprit. Changing it around a bit yielded the desired results (i.e., the map fix before Better Clocks for Better Cities).
The second problem had to do specifically with Better Clocks. It just didn't work. Rather, it caused the issue. Removed it, and everything is fine. The Clocks version of BP works just fine without it.
So this did fix my map from the mess of multi colored pixels but for some reason it messes up the terrain all around the city I have no clue why Never mind I didn't read the text at the bottom of the description mb
This didn't do much of anything for me. I put it right after BIC.esp, bashed it in, still can't see or travel to the world map when in the IC. Also it screws up BOSS' suggested load order big time - UL stuff is supposed to be loaded before BC. You don't want UL & all its patches loading after BC stuff, which is supposed to be near the very end to work as it should.
There is nothing wrong with the Better Cities IC map, nothing to fix. This isn't actually a fix, but rather it undoes certain compatibility enhancements we made in Better Cities by reverting the parent worldspace for every IC District back to Tamriel - this allows you to fast travel into the IC from outside and out of the IC from inside, however it will conflict with Unique Landscapes: Imperial Isle and any other mod which edits the land height of the Imperial Isle.
Better Cities team recommends that people not use this, however the choice is yours (assuming it works, since amvicente's comment suggests it does not - I haven't downloaded to find out).
EDIT Also, if this mod doesn't transfer the BC landheight for the IC from Tamriel2 to Tamriel, then the Market District will be messed up and you'll see the notice on the ground telling you that your load order is wrong.
See my reply to demni, Better Cities IC map definitely needed fixing, and since installing this fix I've encountered no problems; I don't have Unique Landscapes installed mind.
No, what you describe to denmi is not a fix, that is simply doing what I described in my post from four years ago. It merely undoes edits in BC which exist to improve compatibility with other mods. If without this mod you were still able to fast travel into the Elven Garden Districts, then either you did not have BC IC Elven Gardens installed, or else you had a bad load order with another mod editing that district loaded after BC Imperial City. Map markers exist to travel to every city gate, so if you did not have those then you definitely did not have BC installed correctly.
I disagree. I love Better Cities but the IC map is the worst thing about it. Can't fast travel out of IC. Makes no sense, and also caused some slow loading of the character/map menu for me. It should be an option within Better Cities to disable that feature, but I couldn't find such an option.
You may disagree, however you are wrong. If it makes no sense, then you haven't read my previous two posts here which clearly explain it.
A fix repairs something which is broken. This file undoes some content in the mod Better Cities which works exactly as designed and intended, so it does not fix anything. Thus it is not a fix.
It is not possible to make the content optional without breaking what it was designed and intended to do.
edit: let me rephrase that. I didn't know that there were any problems with the BC IC map that needed fixing. if there are, please let me know what they are and how this mod addresses them.
It gets rid of the Imperial City map that comes with BC. I couldn't find any way in the configuration to get rid of the annoying thing. Not being able to see the world map when you are in the IC or AU is really annoying, also only having map markers that allowed you to FT to the Elven Gardens district was infuriating. I don't think the latter was supposed to be the case, but as far as I'm aware I don't have any other mods that change the IS or map; but having to travel to the EGD whenever I wanted to go to the Market District is waht finally got me to look for a mod that does what this mod does.
