I made a MASSIVE update for Frost and Shade!!! Range play style is not an optional file anymore. Now Frost/Shade have order menus where you can switch between assassin/range play styles. Also fixed the mods so that now Shade and Frost are compatible, and if you want you can even have both of them with the same character.
Added Shade - Panther version for both original (assassin) and archer versions for people who would prefer a panther over a snow lion. Available as optional files now.
Really love having Frost as my companion. Came across an issue though, once I went to The Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary - Frost leaps for the Skeleton who wanders around and then everyone else goes for Frost. >.<
Thanks for reporting that, I looked into game files and it appears that it is a small mistake developers missed. All the Dark Brotherhood NPCs Faction is set as : DarkBrotherhood, DarkUnderling, PlayerFaction Where as those skeletons Faction is set as: CreatureFaction, DarkBrotherhood, DarkSancDwellers, NecromancerDungeon, UndeadFaction
I set Frost to be PlayerFaction, so regardless of their other factions he would not consider other Dark Brotherhood members as enemy as they are also PlayerFaction. But those skeletons have some evil factions like NecromancerDungeon and UndeadFactions which may be considered as enemy by Frost, and no factions that would make them friendly to it.
I made a change in Frost's script that will add your Faction Ranks for Thieves, Mages, Fighters Guilds and Dark Brotherhood to Frost when you activate him.
If you join one of these guilds or gain a rank after you got Frost, by making Frost Wait/Follow once you can add him your new Faction Ranks.
Thanks, hope you will like it. I think I'll first make 2 more versions of Frost for other play styles: Archer Companion: Casts 3 sec Fear Mage Companion: Casts Weakness to Cold, then uses a very weak range cold spell until enemy gets in melee
Then I will work on textures of either boar, wolf or clanfear. Then will utilize them for different type combats like fatigue draining, or frenzy. And I will make at least one tank (probably boar) with self shield/heal spells.
Scripting them to work as desired and testing takes some time, as well as texture work. So when I can find time from my other responsibilities I will start working on them.
Hmmm... The archer companion one seems a bit strange. I like the idea of it helping you, but fear maybe not so much, as it would cause enemies to run away and might make them harder to hit. Maybe burden? set them in one spot to keep hitting?
And also, I love the boar idea. Also, do you think you could perhaps do a wolf retex that looks like a German Shepard? That would be amazing, and I would love you forever.
I may do fear and burden options separately, personally my favorite race is Khajit for their Eye of Fear so I am well practiced for landing hits to fleeing enemies and I would prefer to increase their distance rather than rooting the enemy in place.
For wolf german shepherd texture, probably not the first thing I would do but I may do it for you and others who would enjoy that !
Fair point on the archery-fear thing. And thank you for considering the German Shepard. Just a bit of my character's backstory that I have been looking for. (I'm big on backstory)
