hmm... - more lightweight - can increase your performance (this is the only detection mod that improve fps... I think) - better actor precognitive, they can spot torch or light spell on you (IIRC SDR mod still not validate torch on player) - can help foes reach player rather than standing around like a fool in combat - can fix endless combat bug - more simple but effective detection, EXCEPT in sound and body part detect (ex. headless zombie is validated correctly in SDR) - gives Detect Life a better reasons in Oblivion, more realism & fun challenges especially on khajiit, vampires & ghost families - easy to install without any DLL files or ini file or other requirements
After a few sessions in wilderness and in dungeons I can vouch for it. I always liked SDR, but in its quest for absolute precision it became a heavyweight calculating hog and rendered itself unplayable on my machine (besides the author actually said it's unfinished, and won't be in near future). GV in comparison is just as challenging, feels natural, and last but not least - swift like a cheetah. It's like Colin McRae vs Richard Burns Rally (although perhaps only gaming nestors will get this) - one's a quick, enjoyable arcade with just enough tweaks for a player to understand how it works, the other was a full blown rally driving simulator with lots of little buttons and sliders (also enjoyable, but aimed rather at natural born strategists).
very pleasant feedback indeed, it will help my motivation both in RL and in modding more :) Thanks Mac lol only a gamer or racing person might recognize that statement, this video could be a reference ahh GV... that has a nice ring to it~
Nice L! I used for a long time "Sneak Penalties" (https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/35792) as a 'sneaking overhaul' in my game. Going to replace it with yours now, or maybe use both if they are compatible. Do you think they are?
mmmm.... just now I've taken a closer look at that mod and I think Greed Vision is already have all of 'Sneak Penalties' and more~ if you running both of it, gonna conflict in Night Eye part. Because Sneak Penalties mod add night eye regardless actor type (all NPCs have night eye potential ability) You bet ! I suggest that you use Greed Vision for new detection system, believe me it is fun and thrilling (especially when playing as thief / DB assassin role) be careful though when you trespass, NPCs that have detect life ability, they will pummel you and bust you out also if you use combat timeout mod something like that. Do NOT use it with Greed Vision because this mod already have such feature, to prevent endless battle bug. it is indisputable part of Greed VIsion
I have the Exterior and Interior Distance to Hostiles from the Bashed Patch (Tweak Settings) reduced to 2000. I guess I should uncheck that. Thanks How about the crime alarm and greeting distances, are they affected by this module?
Yes Lex, you could uncheck that Greed Vision managing game setting Exterior and Interior Distance Hostiles range in-game by script nope this mod didn't touch crime alarm and greeting distance. it is only affect 'Vision' as the keyword implied still this mod is only part of the big fun... the main concept of Greed Vision is to enhance other features from AoG, such as Greed Law (this one touch crime alarm distance game setting) and Greed Percept (NPC react based on player action & weapon out) and Greed Ranger (Near MISS !! ) I could say this is important foundation of AoG but I know... several users already mention that, about AoG have too many features :( they don't want all of that Fun features installed in their setup
I know, some people just prefer a few features. It's very nice from you to provide some standalone plugins. Is that normal NPCs make an instant turn toward me when I sneak behind them and get detected? I think no turn at all (like in Vanilla) or a smoother turn (if possible) would be better. (just my opinion). Thanks again for the mod.
ahh... so you noticed that, yeah it is indeed instant turn. for smoother turn I think there is no animation that can support that (because the script force z angle of NPCs) maybe I will think better visual effect later as for now I can't think a way to solve this visual effect issue
Oh my GOD ... LOL I never thought that, when I first developed this feature I didn't think instant turn could cause creepy effect for other users :p :p OK I've uploaded less creepy version, how about it now sorry Lex I really don't mean to scare you in this happy Xmas~~
haha that was just my opinion, maybe others think different ^^ anyway it's good for me now thanks for the ultrafast update L and happy Xmas for you too
I'm actually not sure if this mod is the main culprit, but I'll leave the comment below:
Unfortunately this mod was responsible for a reproducible CTD for me (but it might be my fault, see end of comment).
I loaded the specific save about 10 times with the mod and 3 times "without" (see below) now and everytime it crashes after a minute or two with the mod and never without.
I couldn't even completely remove the mod from my modlist because then my saves wouldn't load at all anymore (except very earlygame saves).
The only solution was to edit the mod in TES4Edit and remove everything except the spells. Then my saves would load and no crash anymore.
So I guess there might be some script issues.
ALTHOUGH: I don't think the following is likely the cause of the issue but I could be wrong: I actually changed all the spells to lesser powers to avoid the random restoration level ups. So I might be at fault myself by modifying the mod.
Hello folks just dropping by to appreciate all of your support. I thank you all from deep of my heart All of your downloads gave me $ 135 which is very valuable for my life right now. I am sorry... RL is so busy and I can't continue modding at all, but if some time in the future I can do modding again, I will gladly accompany all of you I might take on Skyrim, or even Fallout maybe BEST REGARDS,,
I think I managed to fix the "seizure" bug by commenting out certain features pertaining to the player character being fishy around friendly npcs. Ill do more testing to see if it is working properly. This also fixes npcs rotating to face you while sitting. If anyone is interested in the fix just lmk.
Wanted to try this mod, but no "greed setting" item apear...what could be wrong? Im usin obse 0021...could there be conflict whit any other mod? Key chain perhaps?
Is it possible to tweak the time they stop searching for you after you go invisible?I use invisibility often and when i go invis the mobs immediately stop searching..i would like to tweak it so that they spend like 20 seconds before they stoo searching.
Other than that it is an amazing mod that makes sense,it was painfull at first but at 60 sneak it the mod starts showing its potential.
Yes, I have the same glitch sometimes, they get stuck and I have to "push" them to let them walk again. Also when sneaking there is another animation glitch with people sitting down: as soon as you enter into sneaking mode, NPCs sitting down rotate unnaturally towards the player's position.
I had this problem too and as a result deleted the mod. Initially the author was updating it regularly to fix the bugs, but it seems to be abandoned at this point. It was a nice try, but turned out too unpredictable & glitchy.
There is a rather game-breaking bug with this mod currently (at least how it plays in my load order):
The mod will sometimes give the player restoration experience and skill ups at random intervals, most commonly when entering combat and whatnot. After a look in xEdit, several mechanical spells added by the mod are listed under the restoration tree. It would be safe to assume that when these spells are 'casted', the game gives some exp to the PC.
I hope this can be resolved if it is a global bug and not just my load order. But I disabled every mod but this one, and it still grants me restoration level ups. I did not disable any OBSE plugins however, but I doubt those are the cause.
Please let me know lubrons if you experience this glitch, simply play around in a game with only this mod and do basic actions like entering combat and exploring.
hey Oi, are you using vanilla leveling system ? if Yes let's proceed in the pm, I want to test something... if you are ready sent me the pm, I myself using Oblivion XP, so I not encounter this levelup bug.
@Oi ah am glad that you switch to Oblivion XP, because several of my mods using spell effect method. for vanilla user spell effect method will cause certain spell level up repeatedly
@Ian actually this levelup bug can be solved if I do some more researches and workaround yeah I'm sorry about that and other vanilla users, there is two big reasons about this. ONE right now my mind is much in RL so I do not do modding things nowadays, TWO I don't have enough motivation for modding recently...
lesser power still need spell school so I think if I change it will still give experience in spell cast method, but... maybe I will try that later, who knows it will solve levelup bug issue
ahh in the mean time consider that as bonus, upping restoration kind boring anyway... right? sometime later I will make all of my mods compatible with vanilla leveling. as for now please bear with it... am still have some to do in RL
You have a point, and I do like restoration level-ups considering my spellsword build relies on it so much early on. Take all the time you need to settle your RL issues.
Because I like to use Efficient leveling with vanilla skill leveling... A workaround for this is by installing this mod after reaching max restoration (100) but still, I hope you could find any solution to this I quite like this mod, and is very recommended also, I don't plan to use Oblivion XP (because I like the efficient leveling vanilla has) but thank you for this mod, seriously!!! also, I want to ask if the AoG Overhaul plus Detect Item could be safely Installed mid playthrough???
I mean I just went ahead and tested for myself by changing the spells to lesser powers and it seems to be working fine for me. I can't say as I don't know 100% how this mod is supposed to work in and out but I can tell the detection is a bit more aggressive and I'm not getting bumps to my restoration experience while using Ultimate Leveling in skill based progression mode.
Does this mod have the latest version from AoG overhaul (https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/46495/?tab=description)?
because i would love to use this as a standalone and have the latest update too, since that overhaul is so rich in features that it overwhelmed me lol, but amazing job! that mod is really a masterpiece!
and reading from the comments, this mod is a masterpiece as well!

I have a bug where sometimes NPCs get stuck trying to turn their heads to look at you.
Anyone had this issue?
It happens at the start of the game with the emperor and the guards, I have to move around a bit and try to talk to them to "fix" them
thank you
