Welp. I really want to use this mod but when i run it with the better cities compatibility patch it hard crashes at the logo loading screen.
If i run just Ef's Shop + Better cites + and the patch. Then order them better cities > ef's> Patch. it always crashes at the game logo intro. If i turn off the patch it runs perfectly.
I've been using this masterpiece for a couple years now. I've had no problems with the mod what so ever. Everything worked as intended, the shop upgrades work, the NPCs are doing their thing and my character is anything but poor thanks to investing quite a lot of gold in training the NPCs, upgrading the shop etc. Using this together with Better Cities gave me access to the Bank of Cyrodiil and my character now has close to a million septims in the bank account, lol.
I really do hope the author will give a quick update to this amazing mod, so that it will work with the newer versions of Better Cities, so that we can continue to use these great mods together.
Would be a great mod, if it ever worked. Even on a completely fresh reinstall with no other mods or enb the game will always crash if I try to run the store manually. If I try to let the shopkeeper run things, the game crashes at the 6pm notification. I can't add anything to the bookshelves--the activate prompt doesn't even show up when I hover over any of the white rectangles. I've tried fully upgrading the store, only upgrading enough to meet the shopkeeper/gambler prerequisites, only installing the vending machine, to the same result. Again, on a completely fresh install (no other mods but vanilla DLC and this), only collecting items from the intro tutorial and fast travelling immediately to Chorrol and it might work for a day or two, but I'll set the game down for a night only to come back to the same cycle of crashes in the morning. Its f*#@ing infuriating because I genuinely don't know what the hell I'm doing wrong. Considering the last post made here was almost a year ago I seriously doubt I'll hear anything back, but here's to hoping.
UPDATE (In case anyone else has this problem) - Streamline 2.1 was the mod causing the crashes with trying to run the store manually. I'm not technically incined enough to know how to explain why, but after removing it I haven't had a single crash between running the store manually for several days and waiting past or just before 6pm and waiting for the end of day notification. Still not sure why it bugged out with vanilla Oblivion, but either way it works!
Currently experiencing a big issue with this mod in that the shop refuses to actually open. I have pushed the button on the counter, verified that the shop is set to open, gone through the control menu, verified the shop was set to open, the sign outside says open 8-6 but my shop keeper never comes into the store and when I try to manually run the store it says the store must be open to run it. If anyone else has had this issue please let me know how to fix this as it basically makes this entire mod worthless if I can’t even open my shop when it’s set to open.
Fantastic little mod when it works, but, at least given my experience, it always seems to break down....eventually.
The problem seems to be with how the mod accounts for a "day" passing, and, to be fair, the vanilla game seems to have issues with it, also (e.g. you are sure you had already spent a full day away from an altar, but when you do visit a temple, you are told you can only get one blessing per day). There are times when you are sure that a day has already passed by, but you don't get an accounting of the store activities the previous day. You wait a day longer, then you may get an accounting without a problem (good) or a CTD (bad). After a while, you almost always get the CTD., at least in my experience (i.e. the problem keeps getting worse until the game becomes basically unplayable unless you disable the mod.) I was thinking this was due to conflicts (see below), but nope, even after all other mods are disabled, you run into this bug...eventually.
If my hunch is right, though, and the problem is with the vanilla game, I suspect this may not be a fixable bug.
when i look at the main counter with the notes i get a CTD I've got BC and the patch i thought it might be improved chorrol causing it but i removed that mod and still no change is there any mods you know of that can change the oak and crosier im also running Heartland mod pack if you know of any mods in that that could be doing it.
Every time I get a message about customers, the game crashes. I have BC and Ef's BC Patch from his page. Not sure if a mod is conflicting or what.
Update: I took out the BC Patch for the shop and the shop, ran a clean save, added the shop without the patch and it works (though the salesperson isn't showing up and I have to run it.) Patch causes game to crash.
Interesting. I have a similar problem (but the crash is not consistent) without the patch (or, indeed, BC mod at all). Not running a game with a lot of mods, but there are NPCs and items that I added that might be causing issues, admittedly. Curious if anyone else is having crash when the daily message about customers come up.
I can also confirm I'm getting crashes pretty consistently with at the end of day message. I'm not running BC, but I do have a boatload of other mods installed. I didn't have this issue at the beginning, but rather it seems to get worse the longer the mod is running for. I also used to not have problems when letting the Shopkeeper do all the work, but when I decided to stick around and run the shop myself for a bit, it started to get bad. Now I'm off galivanting, getting new items, and it's crashing with just the Shopkeep.
Hi, the patch for Better Cities seems not to work anymore with the newest version of BC (6.2.3). My game crashed on start when using the patch with the new version, removing this mod and the patch made it run again.
So yes, the latest version of BC breaks the patch but there are a couple of points to clarify here.
First, the game will not crash if you just remove the patch, so you can always play the game with a messed up city. Second, you can fix the patch by simply opening it up in the construction set and regenerate the cell paths.
There's actually nothing wrong with the pathgrids. BC's developer was able to figure it out:
The problem is that ef's Shopkeeper Mod patch for BC disables two bushes placed by BC. Those two bushes use non-vanilla base Tree objects, and the Form IDs for those base objects were changed in a recent BC update. The patch is still looking for the original Form IDs, and failing to find them causes the game to crash on launch.
Fixing the patch can be done just by updating to BC 6.2.3., then opening the patch in the construction set and saving it; this will get rid of the bad references and let the game launch normally. No cell path regenerating is needed.
?I'm trying to do so, but unfortunately, my Construction Set keeps crashing (maybe too many mods?). As it keeps doing so, I'll try to save the plugin as a new plugin instead of saving the patch as an active file. With a bit of luck, the patch for the patch will work. And if it doesn't... well, it can't be helped, unless some of you that managed to do it could share the saved patch .esp.
In any case, thanks for the info. :)
Ok, I managed to save the patch plugin after installing TES CSE. If it was only opening the patch as active file and immediately saving it, I think I did it right, because I got a console message telling me what you can see in the attached picture - basically, that there were 2 objects missing, which was, as I read in other comments, the cause of the issue.
Hello, I am writing this to suggest making a compatible version of ef shop with CUO Chorrol and better cities... I know that not many people are using both at the same time and tried to make some changes with the CS tool to use of ef shop, better cities, and CUO chorrol but it made my game not start every time I tried to make some changes...

Unfortunately I can't remember where I found a tutorial, there are some infos about cellpaths when you look around the internet.
