I'm experiencing some kind of issue with the mesh/texture of both female Khajiit and Argonians. Where the underwear should be, there is just a black void. This happens without using any body mod or even any other mod at all.
sounds like a missing normal map. if it isn't, just grab the original underwear files and put them in whatever filepath you want, using bsa commander to extract them from the archive. then open the mesh in nifskope and modify the filepath to your new files. (and remember to clip the beginning to start with /textures).
this is the only advice i can give since i have not run into this error.
good news. i fixed this issue. it was using a bad texture filepath. i didn't realize you said "Female". the male one was fine and i hadn't thought of checking the other.
Very awesome. I always preferred the beast races how they were in Morrowind. I'd imagine patches would be needed for in my opinion 2 of the best character overhaul mods available. Oblivion Character Overhaul - Advanced Edition. And VKVII Oblivion Argonian and Khajiit Skin mods (https://www.moddb.com/mods/vkvii-oblivion-skin-argonian)
it does need a patch. i dont use the character overhaul. i did some research and it looks like the culprit might be OCO applying other body assets which would cause them to override my meshes.
Unfortunately not at all compatible with BWs Argonian Hair. I'd make a patch for it, but that's far too complicated for me to even begin to comprehend... I don't even need the hair, just some more eye options to make them more like the argonians from morrowind. Could you consider adding eye options to the mod too?
Works just fine with Rainbow Argonians and JJiinx's Morrowind Argonian Faces.
im going to do some more work on this. i will let you know when i complete my work.
in the meantime, all you would have to do is load both .esp in the obse editor with the bw argonian hair as the selected/primary mod and my mod as a secondary mod. MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP THE PRIMARY ESP!
just add the beast model ability to argonian or khajiit (depending on which esp of mine you are using) and add the human model ability to the other playable races. once saved you should be able to activate the new version of the primary mod and can deactivate the original mods. then start the game. let me know if this doesnt work.
the same procedure should be useable by oblivion character overhaul.
i didn't see any way to alter each character with minimal changes. more changes means there will be more compatibility issues. no changes will be made beyond what is already done. if the method i suggested works for compatibility let me know and i will post it on the description page. any advice on improving it would be welcome.
Unfortunately I have absolutely no clue how to do what you just told me. There's no option to set "primary mod" and "secondary mod" in Wrye Bash, OMM or the Vortex Manager. If what you meant was changing the load order, Then yes, I've tried that. The last mod to be loaded always completely overrides the first. I'm not sure why the two mods are incompatible since they both alter completely different parts of the body. Then again, I'm not exactly "smart" with modding, nor do I know how to code; My advice would be naive at best, so I'll just have to settle for BW's hair pack.
sorry i should have been more clear and should've mentioned using the obse editor. to clear things up for anyone else who wants to try, i meant that you would have to use obse editor to edit the mods. referring to the primary mod, i meant select it as the "active" mod when opening mods to edit, and check my mod as a regular mod by loading multiple mods at once to edit.
(To bill8875) If that worked, I wouldn't be here asking for help. Wrye won't merge the mod at all, even if you try to mark it as mergeable.
(to UndeadDremora2) Unfortunately I still have no idea what you're talking about. I can't find an OBSE editor anywhere, except for mentions of an add-on to the official construction set (which is already wayyyyyyy beyond my level of skill to use) It's been a year at this point anyways. I don't think I'm going to be able to get this to play nice with my other mods no matter what I try. I'll just have to hope someone comes up with a new mod with similar functionality, or a less convoluted install method for Argonian Beautification. (I'd totally be willing to help with making meshes for the former.)
if you download obse you have to create a shortcut to the main executable. then in shortcut properties change target: to "D:\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\obse_loader.exe" -editor or whatever path leads to the obse that you installed. (this mod does not work without obse and you even need the .exe to run mods like this in regular gameplay)
for modifying race, make a copy of my .esp and whatever other .esp you want to use if you open my .esp and whatever other .esp you want to merge, then add my custom magic ability to the races, then save it as a new .esp, it should work.
this mod changes the legs and feet only. i have not tried it myself but from what i can tell the oblivion character overhaul changes only the head. so this should work. if it doesnt someone has to make a compatability mod (i wont be doing that since i have quit modding oblivion).
Thanks for the reply, it should have said "Seamless for OCOv2" instead of just OCO, that was my mistake. Seamless comes with it's own body replacer and I wondered if this would work.
if it replaces the legs or feet then it wont work unless custom meshes are created and used in the file paths provided by this mod. you can always download the files and try them. if it doesnt work just delete the meshes and the esp, no further requirements to uninstall it. (except save files using the mods would have problems)
Unfortunately, in my experience it doesn't work with either Oblivion Character Overhaul version 2 or Oblivion Character Overhaul - Advanced Edition for whatever reason. It is better to use Oblivion Character Overhaul - Advanced Edition in general, over Oblivion Character Overhaul version 2 since as it states in the description: 'A replacer ESP for Oblivion Character Overhaul version 2, cleaned of all dirty and wild edits as well as stats changes, and NPC edits are kept in a separate filter ESP to be deactivated and imported into the bashed patch for maximum compatibility with all other mods.'
Whenever i use the beast legs mod, it automatically reverts back to fully vanilla (meaning head, arms body and legs) Khajiit or Argonian when the mod is active. So i don't know what to do, any help would be appreciated.
my best guess the overhaul is updating the race data, causing the ability my mod places on them to be undone. the ability i added is used by all races in my mod. if this is the case you will have to open both plugins and add the legs ability in a compatibility patch. ..unless someone can help me apply the ability using a quest instead of altering the races in my mod, it is stuck this way.
Thanks for the reply. I will try that, although I don't have any experience with such things, but that hasn't stopped me form trying to learn on my own. So I'm undeterred. Your mod is very interesting, since it doesn't require any modded body data, like Robert's male body, etc.
I added in some bug fixes. The Legs and Feet and all other items update when in a game menu. Feet and Legs update whenever you leave the race selection menu also. All enchanted items are supported. Let me know if you find any bugs or have any questions.
Hello, I'm fairly new to modding and I am confused how to properly install this mod. Can I do it with WyreBash or Oblivion Mod Manager? Or do I need to use OBSE Installer?
for the plugin, once you download the .esp, look in the esp files from the esp download file. merge the data folder with your oblivion data folder in your oblivion directory. activate the esp you want in the oblivion mod manager. myself, i just update the plugin list for oblivions settings.
and the meshes in the mesh download also belong in the data folder.
Hey, I don't know why, but the Argonian-only version doesn't wanna work for me. The only body replacer that I'm using is HGEC, so the changes to male Argonians should still apply, but no, the Argos still have "human" legs.
I forgot you requested that. Those .esp are now included in the main download. you will have to redownload them. just overwrite the meshes and replace the esp with one of the new ones.
I had this working, and then all of a sudden a handful of Khajit lost their legs (invisible mesh?)
This hasn't happened to any Argonians, and there are still plenty of Khajit with legs, so I'm not sure what's going on. Perhaps an equipment mismatch, how would I go about bugchecking it?
im done working on this since it is as good as i could get it. the scripts used for both races are the same, the only difference is that it checks for the specific race name (getisrace == argonian // getisrace == khajiit), so i would say make sure you are only using one of the plugins at a time.
i think i have managed to fix this. i havent noticed these issues this time. i just redid the way equipment is handled....so much for enchantments and scripts though.....the texture on the beast legs was missing which has been fixed......it searches for default file paths of armor and if one is found then it replaces the item with another item. custom clothes wont work unless you make your own addition to the scripts to specify its filepath. the male biped paths and item replacement scripts are stored in aaaBeastRaceScriptPlayerEnchantXXXX and aaaBeastRaceScriptPlayerEnchant2XXXX.
new version is out. i am still testing it but it is useable. most bugs were fixed. there are still enchantment and script issues. this is for khajiit and argonian until i get around to making a mod for the two races individually.

I bet you anything it's missing meshes on custom clothing. I wonder if I can prevent them from wearing anything this mod doesn't touch.
