We all know the grass in Oblivion is horrifically tall, this mod aims to shorten the grass to acceptable levels.
Height Range doesn't seem to allow scale changes to grass to shorten it much, if at all even when set to .0001, NifScope alterations to scale and Z index proved equally useless. I decided to try something instead, which worked for my needs.
I used the nif for the short grass near Bruma (jmmediumgrass01.nif) which brought grasses down to approximately knee/thigh height. I edited the "density" and "position range" for all grasses also, which seemed to have made the landscape more full of grass. These were set to 60 apiece (with the exception of a fern in the Great Forest, which is 100 and 150 respectively to reduce the large fern from overtaking the landscape).
Most large ferns were overwritten by using a ground cover grass. This is most noticeable in Blackwood, which is now not overrun with massive ferns. If you prefer the large fern look in BW, simply delete the "bwfern" nif files.
Shivering Isles was not touched in terms of nif manipulation, only the density and position range. I may look into altering that world when I actually go in.
While not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, it does (to an extent) help with finding corpses in fields
This mod is incompatible with any that alter the nif files included in this mod. Mods that only change the vanilla grasses (using their texture names) "should" be compatible, though I am unsure how the image would look in game
