This! I've been trying to find a mod that just slows down the degradation rather than getting rid of it altogether. A 50% slower version would be great.
Honestly it's not much of an issue, get some repair hammers and spam away and your armorer skill will go up quickly, and won't break often. Not hard because it's easy to make money without cheating as well.
But for those that absolutely MUST change or disable it, I recommend the 'Configurable Item Degradation' mod.
Any idea how this affects skill leveling? I know that specifically for armor skills, experience gain is tied to damage being done to your armor's durability. Was wondering if this makes it impossible to level organically or not.
No idea how it affects levelling, honestly didn't test that yet, simply put fixed what was annoying to me before... I should probably test that as soon as I have some time for it I'll put this as a mention in the FAQ for now I guess
Tested it just now.. let a goblin wail on me for 1 min while healing repeatedly.. not a single point of Defensive skill xp for light or heavy armor. Blocking did seem to see xp gains
There isn't much I can do about this other than do separate files for no weapon and no armor damage, then you can just remove the armor damage one or I could make it so the armor gets damaged slightly, but then I presume the exp scales based off of the damage done to the armor so it still makes it a pain...
Might split the two out so there is no weapon durability damage and armor durability damage versions, and you pick if you want the armor durability at all I guess :(
Honestly? please make a separate file for weapons, i can live with armor degradation but my weapons breaking sucks, i remember the first time i played original oblivion, went into a gate too early and at the end i was punching imps and tossing flares...took hours.
You know what I find odd about this, I turned the mod off and clicked on God mode let a guy wail on me and armor level went up even though I wasn't taking any damage and my armor wasn't getting destroyed either. I've already went up 20 levels in about 15 mins
i know nothing about modding or scripts, but i wanna offer a thought anyways. maybe an item or a script itself that auto repairs items in inventory infinetly? that way armor takes damge, earns xp and still stays at 100 durability? again i kno nothing, just offering an outsiders thought to problem solving

So I have been playing with this mod for hours and finally noticed that my light armor skill has not levelled at all. It is absolutely because of this mod.
Yea you can't lvling your heave/light armor if enemies cant destroy your armor, just tested it with mod i am at 0 exp, without mod i destroyed already my armors and i got +15 lvl of light/heavy armor
This is most likely a vortex load order thing. use option in load order to 'reset plugins file' that will put oblivion first. Once that is done you may have to redeploy the mods to have them show in plugins. Vortex likes to put things in alphabetical order which breaks oblivion load order even without mods.

It broke my save after 10 hours of work and there is nothing I can do to fix it.
All of my spell effects are now perm and I cant requip gear, fast travel or get rid of cat eye.
Use the other degradation mod and set it to .1 instead.
Sadly, im already broken, and dont feel like playing anymore, but that is the risk of mods :(
It stopped working when i used the oblivion stone on a gear to give myself feather and then took the gear off for a second.
