yup came here to say exactly this! still think this is entirely unnecessary imo but its a good compromis
I don't actually personally even need this mod. I am comfortable in my body and cisgendered, but I know a lot of people aren't that lucky, and as such, I felt I could make this mod to accomodate them and make them feel better :-) My take is that this mod isn't nescessary for me, but if it makes just one person feel better or even makes someone smile, it was worth every single second I spent making it and more :-)
I do wish there was a way to have NPCs not gender you and wish there would be just one base androgynous body where you can choose for yourself if you want boobs, wider hips, or wider hips with a flat chest and broad shoulders (bodies are incredibly diverse and honeslty this binary thinking of bodies make game dev a lot harder by having to have two models for every clothing item instead of letting them be able to morph and adapt to the body) but I hope that is something that'll come in future games.
I am really happy you like it! I'm sure there's a way to remove NPCs gendering you, but that is far beyond my skill. I'm thinking simply remove all the gendered voice lines from rotation perhaps, but that is not something I'm comfortable experimenting with since I started modding a week ago :p
To be honest, two models exist because it is easier, and each clothing item can be separated and created differently for each body type. This is so no clipping of the body and clothes happens. Also, it takes a lot more time to make clothing work for every body type, and not every game company has the time to do that because time costs money, so game companies focus more on the story and gameplay than customization so that the product can be good. If you have questions, feel free to reply. also, no hate against anybody, just saying the truth on why. Also, the game companies that care more about customers are indie studios.
The clipping thing is absolutely a thing, no doubt, but this is also an old game so remaking the system was likely not deemed a valuable way to spend resources. It's possible, and an increasing number of games allows for more free control of your character's body. Ideally you would pick your body frame and then go from there with freedom of design beyond that
It's a good balance between numbers and That Other Guy lol. Is it possible you could make a small edit to remove the extra bit after the Body Type title?

Sure, I can do that :-) Update: I have, indeed, done this and made the file names a little less confusing :-)
Nice! Downloaded even though I'm mid-playthrough at the moment. Kinda surprised the horde hasn't arrived yet, unless you or a mod has been deleting unsavory comments. I hope bethesda/virtuos adds a body-type and identity type in a future update, though I doubt they would, especially when gender doesn't matter a whole lot in Oblivion unlike games like Cyberpunk.
There have been a few, but whenever they pop up I lock and report them, it seems to have kept the peace nicely :-) And thank you for downloading, I'm happy you like it!
You're very welcome! I'm happy you like it! And yeah, I agree with the Type 1/Type 2 thing, but based on the uproar from a very vocal minority, I think they probably made the right call in trying, but not being too firm on it - hence mods like this for people that would feel better with it this way! :-)
I agree, actually the best version I have ever seen in a game. I liked how Cyberpunk did it too but in that universe you can just go and change any of your body parts at your will so yeah...
I believe they mean the description does poorly at explaining what it does.
Multiple comments here that suggest they aren't the only ones confused - but you seem to have difficulty understanding it doesn't mean they are confused about why the mod exists - only that they are genuinely unsure what exactly it does.
It's all explained very poorly - like people have to have the same assumptions in their head as you to get it.

I thought it was clear from the image, but I'd be happy to clarify the description a bit :-) Anything in particular you would like to see changed?
I added this section to the description:
What does the mod do? Download either of the files, install the mod and it will change the "Body Type" screen to say Fem Presenting/Masc Presenting or Feminine/Masculine instead of Type 1/Type 2 when picking your body type. It also adds a small description after Body Type explaining that NPCs in the game will still refer to you by specific genders.

I love attempts at inclusivity but "body type 1 / 2" doesn't really relay the info at a glance.
This is by far (imo) the best iteration of this mod that I have seen, & it is greatly appreciated!

I would like to have polish translation:
"Body Type" to "Płeć"
"Type 1" to "Kobieta"
"Type 2" to "Mężczyzna"
Thanks!
