About this mod
Virtuos decided to to make Two handed weapons attack at 1/3 of the speed of the original Oblivion but didn't adjust the damage for some reason so they're terrible now. This mod changes that
- Requirements
- Permissions and credits
multiple versions of the mod with different damage multipliers. One for deluxe edition, and one for regular edition. Then there's a patch for Balanced unleveled Rewards.
If you use More Damage x2 then the 4x damage will be appropriate for you.
1.6x damage is the recommended version, it seems two handed weapons are meant to be played very methodically and slowly now with reliance on your large range rather than damage, so this is likely the best for balance over all.
Also, check out this mod if you want another option that does similar things. Two-handed Weapons Reach and Damage Increased
Or this mod for an all in one rebalance for weapons. Best option in my opinion. Mother of All Weapon Balance Patches
Install:
--NO MOD MANAGER--
1. Extract either the no deluxe esp or the regular esp to the Data folder (OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data)
2. If you use Balanced Unleveled Rewards extract the BUR patch there too
3. Open plugins.txt in the same folder and add in the lines for each of the files you added, with the BUR patch going last if you use BUR
4.1 Look further down if you want an example of what your plugins.txt may want to look like.
--WITH MOD MANAGER--
This mod is set up differently than others may be.
1. Install as per your mod manager's instructions
2. Delete or disable the files you don't need afterwards. Remove the BUR Patch if you don't use BUR.
2.5. Delete or disable either the NoDeluxe esp or the Regular esp, depending on whether you have the deluxe edition or not. If you use the regular version and you have no deluxe edition you will likely crash because the game can't find it.
I can't provide support for mod managers as I don't use them for Oblivion Remastered yet and I've never touched Vortex and likely never will. There's a comment that tells you how to do this part from Seatron:
"For vortex users: right click, hit "Open in File Manager," and delete the ones you don't need (BUR if applicable, and either the no deluxe or regular base mod)."

Example for what you want added in the plugins.txt file:
Oblivion.esm
DLCBattlehornCastle.esp
DLCFrostcrag.esp
DLCHorseArmor.esp
DLCMehrunesRazor.esp
DLCOrrery.esp
DLCShiveringIsles.esp
DLCSpellTomes.esp
DLCThievesDen.esp
DLCVileLair.esp
Knights.esp
AltarESPMain.esp
AltarDeluxe.esp
AltarESPLocal.esp
Balanced Unleveled Rewards.esp ; only if you use this mod will it appear
StrongerTwoHanded.esp ; this OR StrongerTwoHandedNoDeluxe.esp
StrongerTwoHandedBUR.esp ;if you use the patch, if you don't this will crash the game.
IMPORTANT: The idea is that the plugins.txt loads the file you added into the folder, therefore you need to make sure the names match EXACTLY what files you put in.
The above is just an EXAMPLE.
FAQ:
Q. Why my game crashing on startup?!
A. You have an ESP being used that shouldn't be. Choose either the original or the NoDeluxe version based on if you have deluxe or not. You will crash if you chose the wrong version. Only use the BUR patch if you use balanced unleveled rewards, if you don't you will crash.
Q. Does the mod affect enemy two handed weapons too?
A. Yes, it changes the weapons themselves. Anyone who uses the weapons will be getting the damage bonus. This isn't a cheat mod.
Q. Is this compatible with my auto level unique weapons mod?
A. Yes, if it gives you the best version of the weapon it works with this mod.
Q. Why the shitty naming on the files?
A. Cause I'm stupid and it's not worth changing it right now with all the versions I have.
Disclaimers:
1. Although you now do more damage to compensate for your really slow attack speed, you still suffer from the other issues of having really slow attacks. Blocking is a waste of time because your attacks are so slow they likely won't trigger in time for instance.
2. Battleaxes are now a bit overpowered because for some reason Virtuos made them the fastest of the two handed weapons but they also had the second
highest damage right before the warhammers, the only issue is a bit low range. Warhammers are still relatively the worst here depending on your playstyle, they're just slower versions of battleaxes with slightly more damage . Claymores have range so that's their strength but warhammers got nothing but I guess they're good for one shotting things.
Thanks Myrmodon for your x2 damage mod and scripts, it made it easier for me to find all the 2 handed weapons in the game and give them higher damage.
